Does anyone want the old purge back to coexist with the new?

One of my biggest issues with the old purge, and assuming it works properly is getting an ideal setting is nearly impossible. The last old purge enabled server had this weird paradox where players would hardly ever see the purge and would go days or more without filling their purge meter. But others due to their ability to farm materials and such would see purges 3-4 times a day.

When you don’t need anything from the purge, getting purged that many times means you spent much of your online time fending off purges and refarming stuff to repair and replace hardened brick steel reinforced walls and such that were hacked down by guys with swords and animals that chew through them.

I did quite a bit of tests with online servers trying to see what setting would actually work for the majority of players and I found the best way of handling it was just not to. There’s no compromise that works.

And that’s when it works. When it doesn’t everyone just gets messages of a purge and then it fails and at that point… what is the point?

I never experienced the old purge. It would always happen when I wasn’t online… always. The ability to make it happen is great. That said the current purge is boring in terms of NPCs. Where are the animal and monster purges? I want a horde of locust to descend on my base.

I’m mixed on the subject. On the one hand, calling it a “purge” when you have to trigger it yourself doesn’t seem very… purge-y

On the other hand, I disliked the old purge since it punished building in creative places by simply having the purge spawn INSIDE your base, rendering any defenses 100% useless.

more than the old exiled lands purge, I miss the original Isle of Siptah surge. the semi random portals in the sky dropping man and beast alike to rampage in an area. poor sods driven mad by the foul sorcery.

could have been the start of a feature that allowed players to transition between maps, too. but that is a topic for a different discussion.

Old unreliable purge or new unreliable purge. sure, have both. i wish at least one worked often enough to be able to count on it.

That’s fair enough. I play on a private server with just my partner (and for a time a very small amount of friends) so this was never an issue for us.

I would love old one back, or even a changed version.

Summoning Site.
Clear out Summing Site, throw in some rare parts and gotta defend the place from Front gate and guys hoping down from walls. Can be Darfari or Demon Stuff from void.
(this way you can’t build, or be a sissy about it and block it off)

New Asgard, Take one of Side ruins not being used (ones south of God Scar maybe), give it abit of mini overhaul, Get Asgard, Critters, or Invaders,

Mounds,… could be a tough one, if you had hold up inside one of large huts.

Volcano got plently of room, as does ice fields.

Jungle, Got ruins just Northish of Boats to dungeon.

How much stuff you put in, starts the purge. You can set up t1 or get crazy with your friends.

With no loss to your base, people might be abit more carefree with messing with it.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a large number of defenders?

The reason I’m asking is because I heard it’s a limitation of the game engine.

To many “actions” performed at once, this sort of makes sense, because action in the game is “procedural” nothing happens unless there is a player present.

So too many players all doing things, or one player with too many thralls / pets, overloads the game engine and the server crashes.

I was just wondering if the issue you’re having falls into this category?

Kinda prefer this new purge system, since I can now choose to ignore it

Seriously… whats the use of a T5 thrall anyway? We can no longer repair legendary anyway.

After all the old purge only gave me wolf and monkey purges…

I think the old way was better because i think leaving a little mystery for the players is part of what makes the game fun.

Agreed. The old way was better. However, I do wish they would change the bar that let players know how close they were to a purge to be somewhere that you have to open a screen to look at rather than “in your face 24/7.” Other than that, just put the old Purge back as an option.

I tell you after the recent update i mean, i knew they made my thraws weak as it was, but mercy my best thraws can barely handle anything and they used to handle hords of enemies. I don’t like them shrinking thraws. After i got back on now that i see how weak they made my thraws im almost discouraged to take them with me!

Yah i for sure one hundred percent agree with you. I don’t like any game that just drops stuff in your lap because the mystery behind unlocking stuff when you achieved a goal is what makes me keep playing a game because once i have everything unlocked or where i cannot grow anymore then it takes sixty percent of my interest in playing it.

Yah i hear you there. If they would clean up some of the graphocs that are wasted under the graphics then conan would work better i think also because that would improve the purge a lot.

I just want the old purge back. I don’t really like the new one. The fact itself one can decide if and when he gets attacked by pressing a button makes me think it’s a rough implementation of something that’s not be thought carefully.

Old purges were controllable as well, but at least you had to play and dedicate yourself to control it. Now you just have to press a button. It’s … disgusting.

Also, the RIDICOULUS amount of damage purge NPCs do, able to kill you in 3 hits even with EPIC HEAVY ARMOR it’s just the wrongest thing in the game. It’s ok, we want a challenge, but not something that ridicoulus.

If they would deal 1/3 of their damage they would still be hard enough to defeat, considering the amount of enemies that come with each wave.

Honestly ? This new purge system sucks so bad. I don’t like ANYTHING of it.

I’d really like the old Purge back as an option! The new one is too tame as it goes where you want and when you want.
Besides, i really want to take my revenge on the Accursed Purge that made me chicken out three times in a row and i wasn’t able to do it because of the switch to Stygian Purge.

Me too, why not, as long as it doesn’t spawn in random bases exactly “in” my base.

The old one was the same in this point, i see no difference here. As the matter of fact, the old one was bringing crafters the new one doesn’t so far.

That’s the amazing part of the new purge system, i cannot see why this is wrong :woman_shrugging:t4:. A player now has purge lvls that can be handled from his own lvl, can define the difficulty no matter the lvl by adding thralls and has no fear of loosing main base, just easy gained gold, sticks and stones! Thralls are no gods anymore, so a player will feel the loss if he does mistakes. The loss feeling is getting high only when you loose thralls of course, but “easy mode” eventually is not pleasant.

Go naked on the temple of the loon, or in the citadel of the tower. Fight all the Accursed alone, slay them and get all the revenge you seek. I suggest you to go naked so your b…s will be visible as you slay them one by one… Revenge is beautiful and you’ll be chicken no more :wink:. Bottom line they came to your house in masses, you go alone and naked, who’s the real chicken here!
Stygian purge is amazing! The best pve content this game ever had and we should be grateful to devs for it.
The old purge system was really good indeed, had some bonuses, but it cannot be compared with the experience we have now.

I’m all for the option so people can choose.

Personally like the newer purge. You decide when and what level you think you can handle. I think thats one of the best parts of it; choice(or the ability to ignore it if you wish so). The NPCs you free should really be special purge crafters. Right its a tavern keep, the vendor(whose name I forgot) and a few lesser ones. too bad.
Right now you have to pull those old purge NPCs out of the admin panel, not that they are much use, they often just dress differently like the Aesir.
