Don’t get rid of lock on

Would you think it was okey for me to use an cheat against a proplayer in another game just to get closer level like that proplayer that probably spent alot more hours than me to actually get to his level? So no I dont think new players should have a chance to a player that spent 5k+ hours to actually improve and get better.

I dont say they shouldnt. I say they should learn how to play a game without an built in aimhack that is bannable in 99% of the other games.

And “sorry everybody” I actually dont think “everybody” is using it. Maybe for PVE wich I dont care about. But in PVP most players actually have the abbility to aim by themself.

Almost all games that have controller support, have it. CE supports controller play so it has it - it also happens to be somewhat useful with M&KB. A cheat is something that is against the rules or spirit thereof. If it’s not against the rules then it is not a cheat. WTF… let’s just redefine the entire dictionary to make our points seem more correct. First it’s “playstyle” and now it’s “cheating” LOL - WTF?

Controllers usually have some sort of aim assistance yes in FPS genres not a aimlock. And since Conan is a little bit different I dont see a need for it. Since I know controller players that are as good with aiming as M+K players thats not using it.

And the point where you didnt understand what I meant with playstyle even after explaining it for you. It’s your problem not mine.

How I see stuff and you see stuff is obviously different. But what suprises me most is that you who aint playing PVP for obvious reasons should have your opinions how it should work and not when you dont have any insight in how it actually works, even tries to convince me that played PVP since EA both officials and privates what’s should be possible and not is for me just a mystery.

If you had something that only touched PVE I would not be that guy who tried to convince you. Since I dont care. I find my ways to make PVE part work anyway.

Others including myself do.

More elitist BS… You’re wrong tho… I do play PvP. So, nya-nya! :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe lock-on should cost stamina. Period.

Several people already pointed out that it’s extremely valuable for players who use controllers. And that’s not just console players – there are PC players who use controllers – so “get rid of it on PC” is not an option either.

Yeah, no. I’m pretty sure that if I went on a PVP server using lock on, skilled players would still kick my ass, because I suck at PVP combat.

I know people use controllers for PC like I mentioned aswell. And the people I know of doing it is doing as good as mouse and keyboard players. Since I dont see why it’s extremely valuable because of that I assume it is because they dont want to practise and take the handicap to get “better” without putting in effort.

No doubt I dont say that. But you would have higher chance to land hits. Like with example daggers. And now in testlive targetlock is even better at targeting enemies, and you can also sprint wich I think wasnt possible earlier.

And no doubt you would with some training get better at PVP if you decided to play it. Not so much better by using targetlock tho.

So in my opinion its pretty BS that it is needed. People manage to play good without it even with controller or mouse+keyboard. It’s just an bad excuse to not have to put in as much time and also keep up with the ones who did.

So if it’s already in the game and not so overpowered that a more skilled enemy can’t beat a less skilled one, then why should it be removed?

Okay, so why do you care? According to you, you’re still better than the lock-on users and they won’t get as good as you are because the lock-on prevents them from learning how to do it properly. So what’s the big problem then? Why remove it for those who find it helpful?

Re: removal from officials.

Lag + Feroxic Dagger spam.

That’s the distilled reason this one has seen.
In the event that there is a ping spike or other server, hardware, or what have you event and FPS collapses, win goes to the Feroxic Dagger auto lock. There are other weapons where this shows up, but the Feroxic Daggers are the worst offenders.

While this one does not duel, this one has watched several duels or other less formal exchanges, and it’s pretty obvious when someone’s auto target let them win through a bout of lag or server weirdness.

Because weapon fine tuning is sometimes challenging (there are precious few moderate balance adjustments, more likely nerf into the ground where it rots, a memory good only for nostalgia and out dated memes), the call for Feroxic Dagger nerf is quieted, and instead the tools that allow it to be impactful outside of optimal situations are targetted.

Besides, calls for reigning the horses in saw much more and swifter impact than howls for Feroxic Dagger gelding. Point of fact, much quieter calls for the meaty bits of weapons other than the Feroxic Daggers were answered with alacrity. So, perhaps the request for Feroxic Dagger nerf merely realized that it was no mere brick wall they were headbutting, but an adamant edifice.

Regardless, it’s the current incarnation of a point of consternation for a year or so now.

Like I been saying earlier, it helps them to keep up with the better players that not using it. A target lock should only if it should exist be available on NPC’s.

I am better yes, since they need lock on to be able to fight me? You get me?

I said you would get better in PVP if you decided to play it. Not so much with target lock. Reason of that is, because they rely on target lock. They dont rely on themselfs. If you use target lock for 1 year, you wont be a better aimer if your turn it off that 1 year later, no matter how much PVP you played with it.

So better people learn how to play a game by themselfs and stop relying on an built in aimlock.

Nah, I don’t buy that… Truth be told you can’t tell in such a case. Allow me too use your own sentences modified to fit my observations:

In the event that there is a ping spike or other server, hardware, or what have you event and FPS collapses, then both the active participants and any observers will not be able to tell WTF is happening at all.

While this one does not duel, this one has watched several duels or other less formal exchanges, and it’s almost or completely impossible to tell what was happening or whether auto target let them win through a bout of lag or server weirdness.

The only untruth there for me is that I do duel. In fact most of my PvP experiences involve dueling or skirmish support - as the clans I’m in try very hard not to raid offline people. So it’s a fight first and the spoils as they say, go to the victors.

Or perhaps someone at FC actually tested it and realized that such calls and claims were mostly if not completely, exaggerated nonsense? That was my experience with them tested many times over. Poison acts too slowly to make much difference in a heated exchange and if there is a lull in the action an antidote is able to be consumed. Poison seems only to be the actual cause of death when the affected player is 10 pixels from death anyway. Does poison contribute in a typical duel? Yes. By how much? About the same as 25% of a slightly misplaced light attack on average. People calling that “too strong” are only doing so out of butthurtedness.

Those on the PC can use the lock on features just like those on the console. The real difference is that lock-on on the PC stays on while on the console it is there just to align, get the HP bar in view, keep walking forward on console while on PC it strafes.

Most of the (auto) facing I do is in 3rd person view. It is only auto with the lock on. The joystick is faster than the mouse on facing. The mouse is faster at turning the camera around. For The majority of the fight, I don’t use lock-on.

P.S. I know stone daggers are OP but with some skill you’ll get out of it, at least on the console.

I really don’t get this whole “pve players us lock on” mentality. I’ve primarily played pve since early access (not exclusively but primarily) and I DESPISE the target lock feature. I do not ever use it for any reason at all. I really couldn’t care less one way or the other as to it being removed or if staying in the game or not, I just wanted to point out that not everyone who plays pve as their primary play style uses target lock, or can even tolerate it.

No, this one does not think they shall allow that.
Unless you are willing to allow others to modify your statements at whim because actually answering a post is too difficult when Strawmen are so easy.

This isn’t a thread about whether Feroxic Daggers need a nerf. Heheheheh. In many ways, it’s very carefully not explicitly about that. The statement was an answer as to where some of the aggressive campaigning against auto-lock is coming from. Please do this one the basic dignity of reading their posts, and the posts they are in direct response to, for context, before looking to pick an off topic quarrel over a non-issue.

Note that this one honestly doesn’t care whether auto-lock is banned on officials. Nor does this one care whether the Feroxic Daggers had damage greater than the Sword of Crom with penetration on par with the Lemurian Axe and also added double stacks of whatever debuff the firespark arrow does.
Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy

However, for those whose circus this is and those who direly want all the monkeys, it’s a topic of consternation. One that never fails to amuse in all honesty. This is, for some posters, just another theatre of that same meta slap fight. Not everyone got that memo tho.

TLDR; Mistake not this one’s observation or explanation of a situation for approval or condemnation.
This one will be very clear when supporting or detracting.

Also, when making up effluence, kindly do not invite this one to the water closet with you. As an adult, you are perfectly capable of making turds without this one’s association to the raw material or process.

Sure, I’m OK with it. They do anyway whether I’m OK with or not, so…

Hehe, hey… Nie mój cyrk, nie moje małpy!

I think he’s actually correct on that one Tele… In fact based on how the server handles lag compensation, I am pretty sure that what you’ve all been seeing videos about as “hackers” killing people from far away… is nothing more than artificially induced lag and auto-locked daggers and not some elaborate hacking software.
Just pointing this out, I am not sure of this thou, never dealt with anything like that it’s just a guess and it fits with his description of the situation.

Is there a solution? Or, is this really about locked-on daggers causing lag.

I agree that we shouldn’t remove lock-on. It just needs to be fixed so that my character doesn’t swing around the side at rabbits when keeping aim on the forward target. It does that without lock, too.

No, from what I gathered auto-locked daggers tend to win fights especially when lag is involved.
That’s because the way Conan handles client-server exchange, as opposed to other games where the server and what’s on the server always takes priority… Conan tries to meet the players halfway…

So while in a typical MMO or online game if your client reports that you’re in x,y,z position, because you moved there while you were not connected / lagging the server ignores that if it can’t trace it back or other players aren’t reporting that indeed you are there, so at the end of the lag spike you would snap back to your original position (and often times be dead if you were in combat), or simply run in place and the client wouldn’t let you move till stable connection is resumed… etc…
When you report your position to Conan though… it actually grants it to you… It’s like the server asking “Wait… weren’t you somewhere else?” Game: “Nope!”, Server: “Alright! have a nice day!” and grants it in a gullible fashion updating your position and your actions since the lag started… that obviously can be taken advantage of…
So when you have auto-lock on top of that, it gets a bit more dangerous, as it makes it easier to land hits in the middle of a chaotic lag-spike like that… and those hits simply get updated to the server making people take damage without anyone even being near them… (on their end)

At least that’s how I understand it based on reports around here… So instead of asking the BIG thing and addressing the elephant in the room… and asking the devs to simply redesign their servers to deal with how lag is prioritized… they are trying to go after small, often seemingly unrelated features of the game that amplify this issue.
So it’s not the daggers causing the lag, it’s their use during lags that ensures almost effortless killing of other players.

I really think they should call for the big change in this case thou… and if someone’s lagging either disconnect them… freeze them running in place etc… and overall try to improve the way this whole network exchange works

When the router gets that lag it can’t save any message. If it doesn’t go well, it will try to bounce. If that causes the infamous lag… then the router will just drop all requests not recognized.

So hmm, I think most of the traffic comes from LOD issues. The garbage collector is too aggressive. It will also cause lag as it runs in the background. On the PS4, it just needs to relax and not garbage (occluded) textures so fast.

I hate the lag, but it is known why around prime time the lag spikes. It’s just not well known and FC plans to keep it that way.

If that were the case we likely would never see rubber-banding… Yet, it’s very common. No. The server takes precedence not the client - like all other games.

I have. I’ve seen it. No, it’s an actual hack. If it were server manipulation like you’re suggesting the 3rd party observer (me) would be seeing something different.
