Dynamic NPC difficulty

This is coming from the few threads that talk about the lower tiered gear that is just skipped by experienced players and the root cause of calling for looking at these to make them more viable (IE bring back the wonder of being a noob)…well @Taemien make the statement about how a sizable majority portion of the map is more towards the leveling and progression of characters. I can’t agree more as the only a small segment of the map is really important to experienced players and so the majority of the map is reviewed as a potential spot to place a base or not and the rest is ignored after you determined your base location.

Well what if instead of static NPC stats, you bring in dynamic stats based on the players’ levels in a zone around the NPC? Some calculation can be done so that the number of total levels in the area around an NPC dictates the difficulty of said NPC. That way the map always challenges us in terms of raw combat (granted a wolf is a wolf and therefore if you have mastered how the wolf attacks and moves, you can still take it down with that knowledge but it won’t be with a couple of combos)

I would rather not(because if 2 60s are in an area and one noob joins nothing will satisfy either)

I would move up the noob scale and downgrade eg to meet a little closer and make progressing more like fine tuning (diminishing returns)

A little off topic but i would rather not be able to punch a rhino or elephant to death

How would you feel about punching a camel to death?

More seriously, I generally dislike enemy scaling for the same reason Marcospt said - why would I level up if it doesn’t make me any stronger? I prefer a system where leveling up will give me a better chance to fight stronger enemies, and quite likely let me into areas where enemies are stronger in general (such as many story-based games) - but if I return back to the noob area when I’m level 9001 with Excalibur in one hand and a grenade launcher in the other, I don’t want to struggle against the rats I used to slay with a rusty dagger when I was level 1.

I can’t remember where, but I’m pretty sure this idea of scaling enemy difficulty was previously mentioned by modders to not be possible in Conan Exiles.
