The lvl 60, Epic Quality Royal armor is a total waste of resources! Since it is crafted from inventory it has no benefits from thrall material reduction, neither a exceptional / flawless version. The armor also has the worst heat resistance from all other epics (only 1 per piece, some Flawless epic like the Aquilonian have 6!)
Why would anyone make this armor? Funcom needs to fix the cost and fix the heat resistance, otherwise this armor is just a waste.
perhaps because its given to only the ones who played early access, meaning that those who didn’t - don’t have it. It’s also a fairly cheap armor to make and craftable from inventory.
I guess it would be a bit of an advantage to some players if it was better than it is. But i wouldn’t know for sure as I don’t actually wear it for visual reasons.
Craft something from inventory is definitely not an advantage in this game, Thralls reduce material cost up to 50%! So at best this armor will costs you the same as any other (if you have no thralls), or 50% more when you compare to other armors crafted on a station with any T3 or higher thrall.
Funcom didnt want something better and a unfair advantage, but this armor is not better, its not equal, its worse. It cost more, it protects the same, it has the lower heat resistance, its just a bad idea 1) Craft it. 2) Use it.
Maybe it’s a status symbol. Like running around in epic royal armor is basically saying “Look how wealthy I am, I can afford to spend all these resources on this armor! Bet you wish you were me, you filthy poors!”
Ordinary Royal Armor is way better than almost any other armor until 60, if you live in the Desert or in the Highlands. It’s a great advantage for us - “early accessers” So it’s just fair to make epic Royal Armor not so great but only decorative.
That makes sense, if its better at early levels than its more than fair its inferior at higher levels. It srill should have a better heat resistance, its almost unbelievable a epic quality piece of armor has the minimum heat resistance value in the game. It takes away even the “decorative” aspect of the armor as you are going to have heat level issues anywhere you go, if you plan on actually using it…
