I play official pve and I try to be helpful and/or leave people alone. I have a small base by the Muriel’s hope oasis which has a King Rhino nearby. Someone dragged the Rhino to my base not once, but twice in the last day or so. I had a guard at the front door that was in the open. He died, ok. But three other fighters, a dancer and my Shoebill who were inside two different stable fences were also killed as was my cat which was on a second floor balcony. How? I thought you couldn’t open other people’s gates. And a rhetorical question, why do people have to destroy other’s things for no reason? I’m truly pissed!!! I have had to change the fences around my base now because people are *****.
Builds close to a world boss, on a path, and wonder why people running by using the path draw the world boss to your keep and aggros your fighters.
Ya, I know but some one the the public server I’m on has build close to world boss and on a short cut. I can’t help but draw the boss to their bass every time I use the short cut.
Ok for the help cats wander. I’ve had the close by shoebills eat a few of mine.
World bosses can go through walls and gates. Well, over them.
But here surround your bases so the boss can’t get to the walls and us a BIG gate.
One of my clan mates wandering around the crocodile pond accidentally disturbed the boss crocodile this is by sinners refuge instead of running the longer way around he he took a ramp someone else built it followed him up 5 greater animals and several Thralls later it went home. Unfortunately I was not online and he just started playing the game didn’t know better @Birder. @DeaconElie how high of a wall can boss crocodile climb I might need to add to it more than I already have. Thanks or should I start making palisades.
if so witch one’s wouldn’t be a issue if not for the ramp
I had a base there at some point. I built it as a tower on that lake with a public access map room on top. There was a small bridge with a jumpable fence gate. People could jump and access the map, and the rhino never got it.
But really, if you insist building next to bosses, you should have leveled/geared thralls. They will fight the rhino at some point or another. Don’t use animals.
They can go over fences, and I’ve seen them glitch trough single doors; just through walls with out ceilings.
If you have stable set there is a frame that you can use with the fences to give a open feel, then top that with a fence.
The stable is one of my favorite DLCs: raiders of hyboria, The pieces go with most of the other DLCs.
Yes I have it. The The only one of the original Dlcs I am missing is Riddle of Steel have to see if the wife had it. Thanks again. The local Kudo kept glitching through wall until he had a permanent accident.
My base is at the bottom of the cliff across the lake from the boss. You literally have to run all the way around the lake to get to it. Considering it happened twice a couple of hours apart killing all of my geared (but not yet leveled but one) thralls in two different yards, but not the rabbits somehow, I think it was deliberate. They got some good gear off the thralls for sure. I’m moving to another area and my map room and transport stone won’t be public because they’ll be behind bigger walls.
What gets me is that all of those were killed inside the fences, but there was absolutely no damage to any part of the build. Not one thing needed any repair.
Normal NPCs don’t damage buildings.
I don’t know how they break into our bases. But I’ve once found a boss Reptilian monstrosity in my bedroom, in the second story of my base. The wall facing the boss spawn didn’t even have any entrances!
Fighting that beast in an enclosed space was one thing. Getting the smell off my bedsheets was another.
It was needing a power nap. Your bedroom probably looked cozy, @Kapoteeni .
I am sorry m8. Bases close to world bosses mean just one thing, easy skeleton keys. I placed some golems out of my base, guarding my open map room, but that’s it, no other guardians outside my house anymore, even when i am not close to difficult mobs. If an old player returned to this game, it’s under the impression that any thrall can solo a world boss, so what happened to you had a “lesson” in the end for both of you. Keep the knowledge and move on.
Wow, I’m totally gonna read that book now.
From what you have described, I’d be inclined to agree with you.
Fastest way to get good gear, is to steal it from others, just as true on PvE as it is on PvP. Most likely your culprits were lower level players just starting out, looking for a quick boost.
Help tackling a world boss to get a legendary key? Great! Get some half-decent armour / weapons to boot? No brainer!
I can understand you being annoyed at all of this, but honestly, I highly doubt any of this was ‘targeting’ you or was personal in any way, your base was just conveniently there.
(Either that, or someone simply felt like griefing you!)
Just one of the aspects of playing on official servers you have to accept and be aware of when you build your bases, PvE or PvP.
You might well be very respectful of other’s builds, but not everyone plays the same way as you.
Also, as others have pointed out, you have built a base on or near quite a major landmark, so you will have to accept foot traffic for two major reasons:
- A water source, which naturally because of its location will always attract other players, simply to replenish their water supply.
- A world boss
So, in future, if you want to minimise the risk of other human interference near your bases, avoid building in these types of areas!
Wells are great alternative to water sources, and using them allows you to build in areas you might have written off as uninhabitable before, and now with teleportation via sorcery, you don’t even need to be near an obelisk!
There are some great places to build ‘off the beaten path’ across the map, if it were me, I’d take this as a teachable moment, heh, and build somewhere less convenient for others.
Even with higher walls, and a base redesign, expect more incidents like this to occur in the future, it’s human nature to take advantage of a useful ‘opportunity’ when it arises.
Honestly I’m surprised this hasn’t happened to you sooner
Good luck
I’m confused as to how your thralls died. One of my thralls can kill the rhino boss solo. How did a group of 3 die to it?
Obviously I don’t know for sure, but one would guess that they were low level thralls?
Honestly a lot of my thralls would struggle solo also, to be fair, but then I don’t min-max, and I very rarely use legendaries, all depends on how you play.
In fact, a while back I lost a Dalinisa Snowhunter I was levelling up to the very same Rhino. I thought it had been despawned since the area had been built up quite heavily, so ran right through , and my thrall died almost instantly (Dalinsia was only level 12 ) - The Rhino was not gone, just invisible
On thought that you could not loot another clans dead Thralls in PVE the last time I tried you could not. A couple years ago. Some one had left a hundred or more Thralls along the newbie River for weeks. @Crompox
You are right. It is still that way. On the official PvE servers, you cannot loot the dead thralls of others, nor even the dead body of your clan mate (before the Age of Sorcery, I lost my inventory so many times like this, because I could not go back to my body in time while my clan mate was just waiting next to it). In PvE, you can still not be stolen of your chests nor crafting stations even if you leave them in the outside, unlike the PvE-C or PvP servers in which you have to mind not to place them next to windows. Of course, I am just talking about the official servers, not the private self-named “PvE” servers which actually set their settings in a way you can be looted like on a PvE-C/PvP server.
Well, technically you are both right, but there is a way around this, at least there used to be ( I haven’t tested it in a while)
While you cannot loot a thrall’s corpse directly , you can still loot the loot-bag that spawns after. It’s essentially the equivalent of hanging around waiting for the decay timer on a base, except on a dead thrall’s corpse instead.
The last time I did this, was on an official PvE server (X-Box) - As I said though, it’s been a while since I’ve done it, so it may have been patched since.
I’m kinda curious to see if it still works now…
I do not know about an other clan’s thrall’s bag, I never tried.
HOWEVER, I tried to loot my clan mate’s bag once after his death, because I accidentally farmed his dead body together with the mobs’ bodies lying next to his. It was impossible to loot his bag (mind you I got an earful for that ).
The day you drop by my server we can try it on of of my thralls.
Yeah , I have never been able to directly loot either another player’s corpse or loot-bag.
Their pets and thralls however…
