Fatal error starting the game, all friends got same problem

Any comment from funcom? Anyone else also got the problem or is it “just” me and my friends?

The same for me today: PC, Steam client, files verified, Steam restarted - after trying to start game Fatal error occures and game exits. I’ve sent ticket to Zendesk and am praying for soon fix. :pray:

I played this morning, no problem. Go to work, get home again, fire up Conan Exiles and it crashes over and over. Tried removing all mods, closing and reopening launcher and “launching” instead of “continue” - no dice. Tried verify integrity, found one corrupted file, try to launch again, crash as Nvidia video starts.

Yep, worked for me and same workaround helped all the people on Conan Exiles Discord channel too. Had to have 2 tries at it as I had a “Mod Mismatch” error that caused it to loop back, but worked the second time.

Courtesy of @ComicVantage in the Conan Exiles Discord - and the fix does work:

  1. Start the launcher
  2. Unplug the network cable or disconnect wifi
  3. Start the game from the launcher and wait until the error message about connecting to the Funcom services appears
  4. Plug the network cable back in or reconnect wifi and wait some seconds
  5. Click “OK” and retry to connect.

Choose server and play

The workaround didn’t work for me. The fatal error simply appeared later on, after selecting a server and waiting for the load screen.

It may be a case of try, try again. But, at least Funcom have acknowledged and are looking at it. It is most likely something simple to fix and related to the verification authorisations and therefore BattlePass, etc (pure speculation my side :wink: ). Watch that space, have a cuppa tea/cocoa/coffee , and chill for a bit.
I am in and on private server, and no Fatalities as yet.

Did you trigger a Mod Mismatch by chance? If so, repeat the process - that’s what happened to me - got through 2nd time.

Ive just uninstalled and reinstalled and that worked for me pain in the backside but the other ways didnt work for me either.
