Favourite location for base?

Where do you prefer to place your base? Strictly PVE.

Do you prioritize:

  • Ressources?
  • Beautiful nature?
  • Closeness to friends and allies?

Personally I enjoy living in the oasis just north of Muriel’s Hope at 7E/8E.

What about you?

I’m up around Sepermeru. West side of it I think, just outside the city on a cliff. Love it up there.

I love the warm end of Bridge of the Betrayer along the shoreline and under the bridge extending into the water, great for resources at Godsclaw and a run over the bridge to the obelisk.

Thank you!

How do you protect your ressource in a base this open?

Bottom left of 9F. (Exiled Lands)
Middle of the grass area. there is like a lowered area in the grass. perfect for a round base =) our server rules on bases are 45x45. so its a good place for that.

Resources are really good, with no dangerus animal close by… easy 15-20 k stone for a close to base run without encounter anything beside other players. you have plenty of stone, iron and trees. also alot of highland barries for your horse and small amount of coal.

close to alot of boars, perfect for the first 10 levels on pets and thralls to farm… leather for tar, meat for food.

On the land side of the base there is a large retaining wall with garrisons of guards at the foot of it ( Berserkers mostly), I have never encountered an npc that will go into the water so they only attack from the side with the large wall and the Berserker guards.
This is a PVE server with no mods, I doubt this would stand up on a PVP server.

I like to build outside Sepermeru, on top of the cliff beside the Warmaker Stronghold. There is a plateau but also small narrow cliffs so there’s a lot of building possibilities.

I like the proximity of dungeons and the Unnamed City, the scorpion queen for my poisons, rhinos and relic hunters for leather, plenty of stones, iron and coal. Good thralls from the town. Also easy to farm for your God token in this town.

I get Black Ice from the Warmaker Stronghold and brimstone from Shattered Springs. I level my thralls in that lake or in UC. I ride to the Stargazers camp for star metal and it’s not that far if you take the path behind the Shattered Springs.

My favorite thing about this spot is the frontal sand storm, it’s beautiful and scary from a tower up on this cliff. I never get tired of it. And at night you have a view of Sepermeru with all the lights from its buildings and it looks the same as my hometown at night from a high hill.

I built on the eastern lake of the Oasis of Nekhet (B8) and found it a nearly perfect area. First, you simply can’t beat the weather (my previous bases had been in the jungle and the Mounds); although, you do need to carry a sandstorm mask or wear armor with sandstorm protection. Resources just outside my door included iron, stone, brimstone, trees, water, shaleback meat & eggs, kudo meat & hide, rhino meat & hide. Sep City is close by for more resources and thrall-hunting. Klael’s Stronghold is just down the hill for additional resource and XP farming. Oh, and there’s a locust queen with a ledgendary chest in the area. I accidentally despawned a jaguar when I built and that cut down on any danger waiting for me on my doorstep.

I left that perfect area for the highlands because 1) the scorpion purges were deadly dull, 2) the pipes in the background music REALLY started to get on my nerves when I had volume up, and 3) my buddies all live up north.

I play mostly on official servers, so none of the above is my top priority. Instead, I prioritize being impossible to wall in, so my favorite base spot is in the bottom right region of C7, right outside the northwestern gate to Unnamed City.

It’s a nice, relatively flat area. I have the Shattered Springs, Warmaker’s, Sepermeru, silver mine, and Oasis of Nekhet close by, so it’s a pretty good spot for resources and travel.

And I make sure that there’s no buildable gap between my base and the Unnamed City gate, which means that if someone wants to wall me in, they would have to wall in the whole Unnamed City. Not only is that bannable these days, but it’s also pointless, because I could still teleport to the Unnamed City obelisk to get back to my base.

Paranoid? Maybe. But I’ve seen too many d-bags and griefers on official servers.

Playing on officials too this was also my top priority for chosing this hill outside Sepermeru !

My first spot is was and has ever been the Oasis by Muriela’s Hope. It backs against a no build zone, so you cannot be walled in and has water, iron, wood, rocks, coal, and thick leather. (Four Rhinos wander there). Its also centrally located and easy pickings for thralls in the Den. Once I hit level 12 when starting on a new sever, that is the first place I go.

I’ve always like building into a water body, be it a lake or the shore. As this is pve, purges would be more than likely go after the parts of the base that are exposed on land then the one in water.

That being said, I love to build right below the Maker’s Hand as my startup build. Thrall camps and resources are all around you, UC, savannahs and World bosses are all just a short jaunt away. The water there can be fished and getting a t4 alchemist is easier there with sinners refuge or summoning place right around the block.

I always go up north to Riversend as my end all build. There, towards the northeast at the first waterfall, is a small area with an empty wolf den. You can funnel the purges towards the shoreline and a slope, making it a good way to handle multiple melee attackers. Its decent, quite near black ice and starmetal drops and a fantastic scenery for a storm glass / frontier build.

Another place would be the lake south of New Asagarth. You can ultimately use the cliff side at your back and use bridges as a way to funnel the purges. However, because they will destroy buildings, once pathways are not available for the purges to enter your build, they will teleport right up inside. Its a scenic place though and the music always lift my spirits there, unlike Riversend

It is your third in a row post that is really interesting, way to go @Hyperpapa, keep it going :+1:.
Well I believe that we all started from the noob River. So my favorite spot there was the highest plateau over the crock boss. Maybe it was the kudo, that very easily was finishing your meal problems, or the resources around that help you build something fast, or the Sinners refuge cave for the thralls and the brimstone. A little bit of all and more, that was my favorite spot. My best biome, most beloved, because of the music, the smooth weather, the swimming with good farming reasons etc, is jungle. I like to build next to the docks of the gorilla’s, something small., open my door from my floor bedroom and dive in to the water for some gold and silver (3 chests) gather my fishes from my fish trap and take them to my m8 @Croms_Faithful to BBQ them so I can feed my thralls and my pets.
However, the best place to build if you are veteran player is the mount of dead area. This place has far more the best loot from the npcs and the blue skeletons, you and your thralls lvl up extremely fast there and the purge is awesome, awesome.
Closing, to the north waterfalls maybe I fix my best houses ever. Wooden structures in these woods and waterfalls made me feel really proud for my build skills, still this dire wolf and some lags can make you really upset some times :joy::joy::joy:. But it is a place to build for sure. Thanks m8 nice topic again :+1:.

The best strategically reason to build close to den is the number of the bearers and ofcurce the chest in front of the four poor fellows asking you to pull the levers, I always give a minute to do it, I find it very funny :joy::joy::joy:. 3 rounds of killing bearers inside Den every day and you use your tools (almost) no more . I call their packs fortune cookies. Nice area, this rhino boss however must be a real pain in the a… :joy::joy::joy:.

I never build there for pve, once with my pvp team we build a fast base until we are ready to go to frozen areas. A pve build must be awesome there, I believe that @Barnes in one if his YouTube videos had built in that spot. I really like the idea of the night view of Sepermeru. Nice spot :+1:

Early game its all about resources. Late, its about the locale. I take an opposite approach to friends; as far away as possible.

I currently have a base there and I …oops…despawned him. Not intentionally as he was great entertainment, But my outer wall needed to go there. Surprisingly, nobody on my server has complained or even noticed.

It is an annoying boss but we both know that this is not completely right . On 3728 some kids had build exactly where the white tiger spawns over savanna, we had complains on the chat that persons were dying near sinkhole obelisk by invisible attacks of the white tiger. How they find out that it was the white tiger? After their death, while the timer was counting down until the respawn selection, their thrall was fighting the visible white tiger now. I really hope you ain’t going to have the same in your server. Ofcurce I play on ps4, I don’t know if pc reacts the same in these issues, still it would be best to find a way to bring back this spawn. You are lvl 60 and this boss is no threat for you anymore .

Sadly I would have to extend my wall out further and I cannot, as one of the theme park builders has built right up to it. So the only other choice would be to demolish my whole southern facing wall and let the purge in, which I am not inclined to do. And he is definitely not invisible, just gone.
