I love how Steam does business, I refunded quite a few times and they ALWAYS stay true to their policy, no question asked.
Imo they should also add KHITAN CAMP with T4 Thralls specific for Khitan Blacksmith/Armorer for the flawless version. And do the same for any future DLC. Maybe Viking next, or Persian.

That’s basically a “yes” then.
The problem about flawless is right now, that they nerfed those khitan a huge bit too much.
I think the bow has 12 damage now? Thats the same like ancient bow. (!) While requiring lvl 60 stuff for it… (the string for the bow, those shafts and else for melee weapons)
And at more occasions (someone mentioned the spear/polearm) as well.
If they would go back on there being flawless versions, reintroducing their old strenght, then those weapons would be completely fine. The problem was that a already second strong weapon at normal would become the strongest in flawless. That was the issue in my opinion.
But what did they push out instead? A nerfed to nothingness set of equipment.
Well. As I was more interested in buildingparts and decoration, the DLC was like a must have for me.
And those do look cool! (Due to a lack of materials I couldnt yet build a khitan base, only crafted a few decorations.)
I slept over it today, and I’m here drinking coffee with a clearer head.
It makes perfect sense what they are doing.
People are circle jerkers, just as we are doing now. A grand majority of players don’t even use the forums.
Funcom releases DLC extremely underpowered, so that nobody can accuse them of P2Winning (EVEN if they had made it equal to star metal on the stats). There is simply no chance that this can be seen as a P2W in any stretch of the imagination.
They want people to actually FEEEL what under-powered feels like. They want the grand majority who are anti-P2W to buy the DLC first, then after 2 hours have elapsed on those majority, they bring the DLC to equal Starmetal tier, because the word of mouth has stamped the content underpowered, for good.
It’s actually quite brilliant.
No It’s not. Funcom is sh*t at balancing the game and that’s it. No hidden agenda or philosophy here.

Either it’s me being in full denial of Funcom’s incompetence, or I am fully in-tune with marketing strategy.
Either way, only time will tell. I wanted to quit ARK last week. I am refreshing my timers now just in case.
No offense, Halcyon, but I think you’re being too nice. Everything you said yesterday was justified, this is not a marketing strategy.
Exactly. I get so passionate about this game because I enjoy it so damn much, but what they did yesterday not only made me get a refund on the DLC, but I uninstalled the game and won’t touch this mess anymore until they ever put sorcery in. If that day never comes, then I guess I’m done with CE, as well as Funcom. I even convinced a buddy of mine NOT to buy the game last night. If that’s their “marketing strategy”, no wonder the rest of the game has issues.
nods A friend of mine wanted to return to CE. He rage-quit because he kept waking up in the desert naked. he went through 5 full silent legion armors, and lost Lovetap + Axe of the Lion Legendaries. This was on PvE, and he logs out inside his base.
Yesterday he asked me how Conan Exiles was after the patch… I had to dissapoint him by telling him the patch made things worse… Fish Traps not working, constant server outages, memory leaks…
Then the Khitai DLC was the last nail in the coffin.
He said he really wanted to come back cuz of us, not really because of CE, but that this is such an utter mess that he thinks it’s better if we just chat occasionally, than get frustrated.
Another thing is he regretted making a male character and wanted to re-role a girl. But then they nerfed exploration experience… so he gave up on that prospect.

It’s sad, isn’t it?? The friend I convinced last night, well, for the past two months I’ve been trying to convince him to actually buy the game. He doesn’t have a ton of money to spend on games, so he likes to do research on games first, to make sure he spends his money wisely. He was always on the fence with CE because he does take into consideration all the negative things people say about the game. As he’s told me, he believes Funcom doesn’t know how to properly manage the budgets given to them, and his concern is that it will always be a broken mess.
Well, I know I can be a pain when it comes to certain topics, but a lot of that comes from love for this game. Even with some of the things I say here, I do enjoy the game and I kept telling him how great it is. I enjoy it so much that I have over 850+ hours in the game, I found a great server with great people to play with, and am even an admin on said server. I was hoping to break the 1000 hour mark with the new DLC, but, yeah, not gonna happen now.
He laughed last night when I told him not to buy it. I don’t blame him. XD I went from trying to convince him the game is going in a good direction, to pretty much “F- this sh-” XD

Very Very disappointed with DLC as well. I waa gonna buy every other dlc they would release, but if they dony fix / patch this half baked, useless and over hyped one, im not buying anything else.
Im still pissed about the ORB thing where they stole us lots of time due to bad testing and even a worse fix.
Failing now with this dlc is really pushing my limits as a customer.

That’s also sad, because you were definitely a big defender. 
Here’s to hoping they care enough to keep their fans, rather than lose them.
Makes one wonder what other “tough calls” they are going to have to make every time something goes south.

@Halcyon You are spot on in your original post. I felt exactly the same. Having wine and playing and seeing the memory leaks and the New Frame Stuttering for me. Played for 6hrs last night and a couple this morning working on the new Khitan jungle base. I love the artist’s work in the DLC…they once again are to be commended on really awesome work. But the rest? Really? What The Frak? I had to put the headphones down and play in silence for awhile. 
The issue is like many others…I REALLY like this game in the immersive open world do anything sense. It is a bug riddled mess that is downright frustrating…and I am able to ‘Play Around’ most of the issues since I have my own server. Funcom and their Game Designers and Coders are simply sh*t…no way to sugar coat that one. This is starting to smell more like a cash grab…but I have do have plenty of hours…and the game does essentially work…and is fun. But after this DLC and minor update…I am not even going to wait for the mega patch. Time to hit the uninstall button and come back to this game perhaps in 6 months. I will miss it for awhile…but my heavily modded Skyrim runs perfectly…just no Multiplayer (CE was to fill that hole).
Thanks Funcom! From a mostly quiet long term fan.
