Agree.
Sorry, nothing for me to say here, as the report states, this is Single Player we are talking about =[
Pardon the imprudence, how old are you? I am 56. You donât have to answer, of course, but I recognize traits in you that I see on myself, and made me wonder.
65
He he he, told ya, two grumpy old farts.
When you level up your thralls, do you make sure they eat their food after each level? If you donât, the chance usually stays the same.
I remember exactly how I got an Ice Giant from Ladagara about three years ago. He seemed to have a strength chance of 88% or 90%. After it reached level 1 and got 1 strength point, I gave him food that increased the chance by more than 100. And at level 100 (I have the corresponding mod) he had a strength increase of 199 points. So all 99 times he was guaranteed to get 2 strength points.
This is just one typical example, of which there were many. But I always shoot my thrall when he gains a new level, so that he is guaranteed to eat food.
Youâve misunderstood the issue. The issue isnât that followers arenât eating after levelling (though, yes that is still a constant thing and effort always needs to be made to make sure they do eat - especially at low levels). The issue is that unwanted food is appearing from nowhere and they are eating that instead of the food they were deliberately given, so they are getting the wrong bonus as a result. The bug is that this wrong food is magically appearing from nowhere.
I didnât read through everything.
In years of playing, I have never had food appear in my thrallsâ inventory that I did not put there myself, or that was not dispensed by a Thrall Pot. Thrall Pots and Feeding Troughs have an enormous range, so be mindful that you or a clanmate didnât place one somewhere and forgot about it.
Are you running any mods? Because 99.9999% of the time we get these âstrange occurrenceâ posts in the forums it turns out itâs a side-effect of a mod or mod conflict.
Heh, if you read the report you would know I play with no mods. It also reads I play single player. If you are going to âcontibuteâ your wisdom, you should have the common courtesy of reading the report before commenting.
I get not reading the entire thread, but itâs always worth at least checking the basic data in the opening post.
Boulderkin has been able to eliminate feed troughs as an option as the issue has been occuring while out adventuring (and, unless Iâm missing the timeline, this is a comparatively new character (I recall Boulderkin discussing not so long ago that he would try a female character), so there is little chance of left over random troughs in unexpected locations).
Likewise, the actions of clanmates, other players generally, or possible mod issues, have all been easily eliminated as not being possiblities in Singleplayer, unmodded.
Like you, Iâve never encountered this particular bug before, but as I noted in an earlier post, I also usually feed followers for vitality gain, and it is all vit food that is showing up without explanation, so it would be possible that I might have missed it even if it was happening. It is also possible that this is one of those bugs that affects only one game mode, so while I might have missed it (as another singleplyer) you might never have encountered it because you play on servers (PVE-C if I recall correctly?).
The irony
If youâre on single-player this might be a result of some kindof leftover mod files or game file/save file corruption or something. At this point I have probably leveled thousands of thralls over the years and I have never seen - or heard - of anything like this other than the typical system of a thrall pot/feeding trough distributing the food (which doesnât even always work).
Perhaps something is #%@$ed in your save file⊠a remnant of a thrall pot of old, who knows.
But again the thrall pot range is absolutely enormous, and Funcom canât resist meddling with the code so itâs not even a guaranteed constant. Back when AlâMerayah was active I had a thrall pot at Sinkhole and my thralls doing AlâMerayah were taking food from it and messing up my leveling. I no longer build them - ever - and just hand distribute food. They never worked properly anyway.
What is the irony you speak of? I would like to know that first.
I doubt my feeding trough would reach from Murielaâs hope all the way out to the Black Galleon. Clean install, no remnants of any mod whatsoever.
- You are trying to apply logic to a Funcom game.
- You are making the assumption that anything stays constant between patches. The thrall pot/feeding trough have always been flaky at best - and in constant flux. Some patches they work, some they donât. Who knows. Iâve stopped building them entirely because they are just an exercise in frustration.
Ok, thank you for your response. I got a clear picture of your âcontributionâ and your vastly distorted sense of what the definition and uses of the word âIronyâ, letâs leave it at that.
I actually tried helping you, but it seems youâre beyond help.
You have built a feeding trough, and I guarantee that that is the source of the mystery meat in your petâs inventory.
The irony was in your snarky, condescending post about âcontibutingâ wisdom.
I struck this bug in an unmodded SP game a while ago. I did have a thrall pot at my base (at Star Gazers Ridge) but it only had cooked meat in it.
I was at the Sinkhole and raw meat started appearing in my thralls inventory (Dalinsia Snowhunter). I had only given her cooked meat. I just put it down to a glitch, dumped the raw meat and carried on.
I had forgotten all about it until I read the @Boulderkin post.
Bummed me out =[ all the time you spend gathering 22 lions to get one with at least 70%, which is horribly low, but it is the best I could get. The mind-numbing grind of the The Dregs for the damned meat⊠sigh, and then our super hot but crazy girlfriend of a game decides to throw that away and grab a stupid chunk of meat from god knows where and ruin all that work.
I am going to cheat my ass off henceforth, gonna kill the lion and the horrible 39 strength, 90% chance in strength Dalinisia, spawn higher lvl enemies to beat the crap out of the new ones I admin-spawn so they have to eat, and make sure every time they eat, they consume what I tell them to consume, screw this. God knows how many thralls have been hindered like that in 5500 hours of gameplay on Steam (noob). I have the power to correct this (By admin-spawning a gillion lions and Dalinisias), itâs called Cannibal Brute, heh. Before they eat I am going to make damned sure they are leveled fairly, and the hell with this crap. I think I will do this with all my cadre of thralls, this is unfair and downright BS.
Some dude is sure troughs are the problem⊠good lord, what do I do next, destroy the thrall pot as well? Thralls and pets keep presenting this problem, and I have had it.
I noticed it once too , I was training two thralls in UC and one had gruel , the other had steaks
after one fight I noticed that one gave some of the gruel to the other , probably to heal better - steaks are pretty inefficient for that purpose after all
of course it messed up the stats too but it was one level and an isolated incident so I didnât bother
Yes because NPCs and chests never have food in them
I could be wrong but I think thralls can access food from 50 foundations away. Been my experience thralls will take food where they find it and the container make no difference. So no the food is not magically appearing from nowhere. I honestly donât think that is possible, if it was all your thralls would be full of food all the time, and I can assure you they are not.
A while back, on the beta server, my thralls kept coming up with food and I had no idea where it came from, my base was still basic, low levels a couple benches, no roof, campfire, and my thralls kept coming up with lasting feasts. Asked the player that was built close to me and he said he had two fridges full. Mystery solved.
Ya I know Iâm on quite a few ignore lists, but I will still respond because I am posting as much for the reader as the response.
The confusing part is when I have a stove, campfire, fridges, and a dryer and the thralls donât take food from anything
Nothing personal but please read the original post and my reply.
Both @Boulderkin and I were more than 50 foundations away from any possible âhomeâ food supply.
Boulderkin and I found this BUG in SP. Your last post is rattling on about MP.
I havenât found this BUG in MP so logic dictates it is related to SP only. I appreciate you are trying to help but the game set up for SP and MP are worlds apart. Just because a bug doesnât appear in MP doesnât mean it wonât appear elsewhere.
If you have a solution, or a work around, for this BUG in âSPâ then please let us know.
