Food healing/regen and Vitality bonus....or lack thereof?

**Game mode: Online private | Single-player
**Type of issue: Bug | Misc?
Server type: PvE
Region: Americas

I have noticed that sometime recently something seems to have happened to food regeneration and the bonus healing mechanic you get from having points in Vitality. I have never used a Vitality below 21 so am not sure where this bonus starts at, but until recently I always got aprox 5-10% bonus healing HP’s from eating food that seemed to be tied to my vitality stat. And when talking to other people about this it was also agreed that this extra healing beyond the base healing amount of the food item was somehow tied to the Vitality stat, but it was unknown if there was bonus HP’s added per tick of regeneration, or if there was a bonus amount of time being added to the full regeneration cycle of the food item.

Was this perceived bonus in error? Was it being acquired in a different way than I am thinking? I should note the test of this both several months ago and now have made sure I do not have any other kind of “passive” healing going on at the time, including “Soothed”. I did not see any mention of this in recent patch notes but I also realize all changes in the game simply cannot be mentioned in the patch notes as it would become a book. So I am curious if this is a bug, unintended, or it was a change made when the “Soothed” system was added perhaps?

In testing this I noticed it first on a private PvE server with no mods and no setting adjustments related to healing or food as best as I could tell. I then tested this on a Single Player game with no mods with the same result. I ran a Steam file check and it said it found 2 files that needed to be redownloaded which it did. But again after this and in single player again, still got the same result.

  1. Take any damage, the more the better for testing purposes.
  2. Make sure Vitality is at least 20 I am assuming, but not enough to invoke the passive regeneration perk.
  3. Eat any food item. Only healing is the base amount of the food item, no longer any bonus based on Vitality.

Hello @Rangerman, thank you for reaching out!

The only bonuses that may affect the healing effect of certain consumables are the level 40 and 50 Vitality perks, there should be no other means of boosting the flat amount of health provided by healing items.

It’s highly possible that you were standing next to a dancer. They increase your healing benefits… Or used to at least.

also there is a soothing bonus now if you are in a certain temperature range that give a passive healing effect
