I am debating on giving this game a try while I wait for Once Human to come out, I’ve been playing around in Beta and it has made me miss what TSW offered. How new player friendly is this game? I know there are tons of changes from the original to this one so I am not afraid of the ‘fresh slate’ aspect. What I am worried about is how much of the spirit and feeling of TSW does this game possess? It was the overall ambiance and strategy required of the original that really stole my heart.

Secret World Legends is still very player-friendly and there is a more thorough tutorial for a fresh character. The community is buzzing along, and always willing to help! There’s even still Sanctuary chat, if you remember that!
The spirit and feeling is still there and will hit you in the heart multiple times with its exceptional atmosphere and writing. The Missions are as glorious as ever, including the Investigation Missions. There are some changes to combat in terms of player abilities, but whether or not you enjoy the combat is something you’ll have to experience for yourself.

try dx9 client if you havent already. also reminder that both tsw and swl heavily used pagefile in windows so make sure you have a decent sized pagefile.

Game is new player friendly cos at this late stage in the games life - or lack of - everyone and anyone is potentially an alt of someone we know, so they help out as so not to look two faced or unhelpful and then there are those who help out cos they need a spot filled themselves!
Just coming back again today after 5 or so years away from SWL and OMG how I have missed this game. Apparently game has moved over to Steam only now for PC?
So much has changed I feel lost, but my toons were still there at their levels so very happy to be able to pick up where I was; which was Tokyo area. are there new expansion areas after that ? I recall Africa was going to be the next, is there downloadable content or expansions since that timeframe? thanks for any advice or suggestions for a newly returned lost soul. back in original TSW I recall it was one of the funnest, creepiest, most unique MMOs I had ever played. had only given the SWLs a brief try after migrating from original when I took my hiatus.
Welcome back to Secret World Legends! There is indeed content after Tokyo! Multiple patches have happened since 2018. There are DLC packs that contain cosmetics and a few extra power items, but there are no DLC packs required to play through any form of mission content. You don’t need to buy anything to access what comes after Kaidan! All content updates are free to play!
Secret World Legends is still PC only, but it isn’t Steam-only - you can have a Standalone or Steam account, but it sounds like yours is already a Steam account. Some of the cosmetic DLC packs are Steam exclusives, if you wanted any of those. One is a recolor of the Unkindness outfit with its beautiful plumes and fabulous feathers, if you like. :>
