Funcom Apologizes for Launch Phase Issues, Will Reimburse Dune: Awakening Players for Lost Vehicles and Items

Wtf FC??? Kissing up to Dune players but screw us Conan players when we get hacked or razed by nefariousness means? And we get told tough sh*t?! We were just the lab rats?!

Yes, and the change in the building mechanic from crafting inventory pieces to using the build hammer was when the theories of implimenting systems into CE to act as tests for D:A swirled.

The build system for D:A even uses triangles and squares like CE. The climbing on the ceiling animation is also just like CE. The more you look, the more you notice these crossovers. I’m actually convinced that the battle pass and Twitch drops for CE were changed not because it took too much time and resources from the CE team (like Dennis and Andy told us), but because Funcom wanted those artists and programers to make sellable items for the new game instead of their old title.

And somewhere a bag of spice fell over. :man_shrugging: Who cares?

Because I’ve played Conan exiles since day 1 EA and I care.

How’s that basement feel folks?
Everyone ready to admit we are just the foster kids in the basement funcom is collecting the checks for to pay for their golden child’s new clothes. And you think we will see any part of that child’s success?

It sux!! I’d say, I’ll be in the dark corner rocking while sipping my diet coke…but I’m more likely to be a hyper c*nt running about singing 80s punk songs and flipping the bird funcom way!!

Personally I feel like writing to Bethesda…"hey guys, know this game called CE? Wanna try something like it? (Totally away from Skyrim/ESO).

If its any consolation, D:A players have less to do than CE players. The shine is wearing off and guess what. Theres nothing there lol! Unless you like pvping all day, and even then theres no reward. Combat plays like an FPS game and even most FPS genre games have a form of ā€˜levelling up’. FC should hire someone competent to design their games. The technical people have done amazing work and its all for nothing. Same goes for most games though, the designers are the weak link.

If they would just communicate with the player base. Just ask us what we want, hell, we say it anyway! Put battle pass stuff in Bazaar, add quests, dungeons, yearly repeating events that go with the lore or holidays. Just don’t kill a game that has us ā€œright thereā€

I find the graphics of D:A to be so much better than CE. When I popped back on the other day to have a look around Siptah I was turned off by the UE4 stuff. My hope is FC makes CE2 with UE5 using D:A graphics and other learn’t lessons. I don’t hate FC, I mean they made enough money with box sales of D:A to fund the next project I’m sure, but I dont think they’ll make much more from D:A due to no one left playing it lol. I think I’d like them to spend some of that D:A box money on some soul searching and research about what players want.

LOL

You STILL pay them money after all?

Have you not learned that you vote with money in capitalism?

It does not matter if there is nothing there.

Dune in the name carried them (Funcom) hard. These thirsty Dune fanboys bought the game without thought. The last Dune game was 2023 and this was an RTS. Before that it was ā€œFrank Herbert’s Duneā€ in 2001 and that was not great. So basically 24 years without food for the Dune community.

So these Dune fans longed for a new Dune game and Funcom games are all shiny and nice looking in the beginning. Enough to get over the 2 hour refund mark and the first positive review.

So Funcom cashed in. Now they do damage control for their new baby until they go to the next project.

Same story ,

I see dune , and reminds me exactly what ce has in 2018,

Ita like a deja vu

All is reapeting again hahaha…

Will be interesting to see Dune’s longevity without the extensive modding capability of CE. I suspect the plan was random quests and events along with the randomness of some aspects of the game itself to keep people engaged long term.

Can they do it or was it just a spice dream… Stay tuned.

Like Conan Exiles, a sand box game…but also like Conan Exiles, will the content be lacking and easily done, not much change and players left to literally sit and play with just sand? Hm…makes one curious indeed.

If the active players keep dropping like they have it will be down to Conan levels by fall.

True. And FC may be giving refunds to lost items and hotfixes and updates and so on and so on…but we lab rats do know one thing. None of that will fix any of their games until they get it together, pay attention to the player base and the needs, not just wants, but true needs; to play a good game for long term.

What makes you think what is happening with that is any different than what was happening to this in the beginning?
