Itā€™s easier and cheaper to make half assed content like a tavern or this purge thingy or skins for the bazaar than making a new map with new assets, monsters, textures, sounds etc.

so will you have more overpriced things frome the bazaar their have not really a influense on your gameplay rather then get new content like expanding a map or create a new map? i will like to see a new map not for free like 10-15 euro for a new map like siptah and siptah is not really apart of the conan history that was something they made to have a nother map

If you would roughly translate the cost of a new map from the Bazaar prices then youā€™d have to pay something like 200-300 ā‚¬ for it. Thatā€™s how profitable the bazaar is compared to a new map.

As SirDaveWolf ironically mentions it is trueā€¦

I donā€™t see why Funcom shoulnā€™t make a new mapā€¦ they could start small and expand it over multiple ages.

The Age of Sand - Steel grade tools

  • Chapter 1: New map
  • Chapter 2: Map expansion
  • Chapter 3: Dungeons and challenges

The Age of Temper - Hardened grade tools

  • Chapter 1: Map expansion
  • Chapter 2: Additional exploration
  • Chapter 3: New dungeons and challenges

The Age of Ice - Epic grade tools

  • Chapter 1: Map expansion
  • Chapter 2: Additional exploration
  • Chapter 3: New dungeons and challenges

The Age of Violence - Legendary grade tools

  • Chapter 1: Map expansion
  • Chapter 2: Additional exploration
  • Chapter 3: New dungeons and challenges

W/e it may be like or called, its just a example.
What makes Ark more interestingā€¦ each map has their own features. Not everyone may like Siptah, but in the end its a new way to explore and engage on content.

Everyone will have their favorite mapā€¦ but Siptah feels afwully abandoned the way ā€œnewā€ content is presented now. Underground cave bases anyone?

i like the idea on expanding the map but 7 years only 2 maps in total and not even expanding and when people have tryed the maps so many times it cannot tell on your hands its begin to feel borring and empty and not fun to play in the long run

I agree

Siptah got pretty nice after they added new biomes, they were smallā€¦ but it was something new to look explore.

I would love to see more though, a chapter should expand on additional content like:

  • Bosses
  • Camps
  • New monsters
  • Dungeons
  • Gear
  • Mechanics
  • Points of interest
  • Story
  • Land/biomes
  • And moreā€¦

It doesnā€™t have to fit in one chapter, and people should understand the map with its content will expand over time.

I donā€™t think everything on Exiled Lands and Isle of Siptah has to be crossed over, just give alternatives on the new map.

expanding the maps by looking where are the diffencent faction come frome like khitan and all they dlcĀ“s and make bio to that by expanding the map

they could allso crowfound so they have the money to make a new map

You say that with sarcastic wording, but what you say is exactly correct. A new map is the most expensive addition they could do to the game (except maybe upgrading to UE5), and they would need to be able to recoup that cost.

Siptah did not sell super well, and I suspect Funcom never made back their investment on it, or at least failed to meet their expected profit, possibly contributing to their later decision to move away from the DLC model to microtransactions.

A new map is not likely due to the cost, further diluting the player base, and because it would not fit into the current monetization model.

Crowdfunding is also not a very likely possibility. I doubt they would be able to raise enough and would look super greedy in the process.

Iā€™ve said it before and Iā€™ll say it again - new map of the exiled lands BUT itā€™s the version on the maproom. Heck, Iā€™ll even be generous as to the amount of labor in retro-fitting the ruined areas and make it circa the war. Shattered Springs can still be there if they want, the bridge could even still be broken.

They could add new massive underground ā€œopen interiorā€ where players can build, accessed from caves in Exiled Lands similar to Blackreach or Siofra River.

It would kind of be within the same map, but would also be able to unload the overworld partially, without separating players even further with a completely new map.

Would be a nice spot to find new materials, treasures, architecture and creatures, and new fancy bazaar items.

Would also pose new challenges for players, getting the supplies from the outside, choosing new good spots close to entrances but well defended, etc.

Also, hanging cave ceiling bases.

New maps arenā€™t going to happen. Siptah was an experiment that more or less didnā€™t pass, I have little reason to believe it was even profitable. They also moved away from content locked behind a paywall.

New maps take a ton of time and effort. Officially made ones even more so since they need to have their own ā€˜shtickā€™ to them. Like Siptahā€™s Maelstrom. Otherwise its just a repainted Exiled Lands and not worth the purchase. Isle of Siptah was damn near an entire new game. I remember complaints about it being called Conan Exiles 2 when it came out, rather than an expansion. And that time spent on it should have been put into the game. Thatā€™s right, this community was very much against the idea of a new map when IoS was released. And probably would be again if another was in the works.

But then thereā€™s the issue of a new map splitting the playerbase. A free map would still do it since each map is contained on its own map file. Thatā€™s a new character, and transferring characters is pretty much impossible. We had character transfers but it was buggy. The reason why is its using database functions on live databases. Its copying a character to a temporary database, deleting the old one, then copying to the new server. There was a ton of moving parts there that allowed for a ton of issues and its one of the reasons why its no longer with us, and well its been years now, so I doubt its going to come back.

Mods can do this, but they require two servers (or at least two instances) and a webserver to facilitate. They do something similar as above except instead of deleting a character, they overwrite instead. This works pretty well, but both server have the same mod running, and they are directly linked to each other.

This method could probably work for Funcomā€™s servers. But they would need to link a Siptah server to each Exiled Lands server. And a third map would increase the amount of servers they already have. Unless they do an extremely aggressive server merger to keep the number of servers even with each server having 3 servers each, this isnā€™t going to happen.

Then thereā€™s the whole issue of some players being blocked unless they pay. A new map means a new thing to purchase. A new map will bring back old players, but not new ones to purchase the game. And bazaar items are pretty much already bought so the only revenue worth doing would be to purchase the new map.

This means you have ā€˜plebiansā€™ stuck in Exiled Lands unable to interact with those hanging out on the newer maps. This can provide for some unfair advantages in PVP or even PVE-C as people get access to gear and resources others donā€™t.

Isle of Siptah did only two good things for us. The DLC stuff it came with were great additions and alone worth the price. But also the modding tools that gave our map creators something wonderful to work with. This is going to be your best source of new maps. These modders can and have put out maps that literally put both ā€˜officialā€™ maps to shame.

Weā€™re likely going to see some method of getting custom maps to console before we see a new official map. And that is a far better method. Thatā€™s where the effort should be.

Oh, which modded map would that be?
Savage Wilds is still half-baked, but any other map might be even worse.

If you consider Savage Wilds to be half baked, then Exiled Lands and Siptah hasnā€™t even had their ingredients mixed yet. They donā€™t hold a candle to that map.

Well if whole tiles, filled with literally nothing excite you this much, then the official maps canā€™t hold a candle to it. If it comes to me, I spend time on a bunch of servers, which used this map. The experience was each time lousy - just lousy, especially due to the poor resource balance. But yeah modders are these community holy cows, who canā€™t do wrong as Funcom is always to blame and them to be praised :person_facepalming:

Dont hold your breath

New content - good.
New map - questionable.

New map means spending resources that cannot be used on improving the Exiled Lands instead.

The EL map seems to have more than enough room to add several dungeons, areas and so on, as modders have demonstrated. Whatā€™s better: A new map with four new dungeons or eight new dungeons for the Exiled Lands? Iā€™d say tha latter will add more content thatā€™ll be relevant to a shrinking player base.

dont be a dick
modders do what they do for fun, and for free. if you dont like it, dont play it, but talking shit is unnecessary.
