Funcom Response to Blue Ranger?

I’m saying OF COURSE tickets were opened. If Funcom isn’t doing anything even though there are many tickets open, what do you expect but for the many of his victims to talk about it.

no but I have steam id’s for 2 of the alts

so as said it is good, and for you information something like 4 years ago, when the giant hack toon was used on pvp server massively, FC has done a rollback to restore server that were hitted. i sincerly wish you they will did the same in this case and this is what i recommend you to ask on forums massively, just my 2 cents.

How? This really does not effect funcom. It isn’t costing them as many players as the bad UI did, is that fixed?

I personally don’t expect anything to be done before the next scheduled update which is what, 4-5 months away?

Realistic.

I, in my naivete, thought we’d see rollbacks starting on 11-23, and an offical statement listing banned accounts. Instead – here we are.

I think funcom has rolled back… twice in 7 years?

Name and shame does no good. They did it on pubG, and when you see rabidferrit28, that would be their 28th alt banned.

Banning hackers is pretty much a waste of time. Seriously I have played quite a few BRs; closed betaed a couple I’m glad never got released NDA. But as long as you are fighting by banning hackers you really are not solving the issue, the game being hacked. The best funcom can do from here is recode access to the admin panel, but then that turns in to a never ending job.

Hypothetically, if you were to buy this hack yourself and use it as it was used of Officials, do you think you would be banned?

Why on earth do people play on officials? I understand that the idea is that what you built potentially lasts “forever” whereas private servers come and go. And private servers are all over the map in terms of both quality and longevity. So I get that.

But guys, it’s just pixels. It doesn’t really matter if they go away. You can always make something new. And private servers tend to err on the side of being generous with players when something goes wrong.

For instance, on my own server, we are currently building out a new server for our new season with a lot of changes to the game in order to make it a more authentically Robert E. Howard lore server. Meanwhile, our players continue to play on our live server. And when we switch to the new server players will be able to level their characters with a potion kit, will have their additional knowledge points returned to them with fragments of power, will be given very generous building kits and we may even run a week of letting all our players have Creative Mode so they can simply rebuild what they lost. And our players are totally excited and looking forward to it instead of moaning about having to put in all that work again. We’re even replacing their T4 thralls and mounts and pets. Because why wouldn’t we?

Long story short, I have been playing this game since Day 1 of EA and I have never set foot on an official server. And I have zero regrets.

Exactly the words the hacker used.

The hack works on Private servers. Allegedly.

I’m sure it does. Of course that sorry excuse for a person would have to put in an app and be accepted to our server first. Not impossible but pretty unlikely.

As to, “Exactly the words the hacker used.” he’s not wrong. But there’s a huge difference between things that are beyond anyone’s control like a server shutting down and a malicious arse hole destroying all your stuff because they are miserable pieces of filth.

I used to build model plains. $30 for a good plane. $10 for different decals, another $10 for super details. Hours of building and waiting on glue, paint, adding decals and done.

And just throw it in the garbage. After all it’s just plastic.

Also private servers tend to keep backups regularly and would be quick to ban and rollback after an attack like that…

Why do I prefer the official server? ip and id are safe.

Hackers don’t just destroy bases and don’t want that. This person is definitely bored doing what he has been doing for the last 4 days. It also uses forums and chat to make it fun.

The main purpose is to attract you to something else. Today, the biggest desire of hackers is to mine crypto money.

while you are playing games. While watching TV series, he always wants to earn money in the background. So think twice before downloading this hacker’s cheat.

Private servers have admins who pursue the same purpose. It is difficult to distinguish who is good and who is bad. You don’t know who to trust. There are good ones and there are bad ones.

I don’t blame anyone. But that’s why I only play on official servers in every game. Or I can play on my own server ( me purchase).

We are not in the 90’s anymore :frowning: the internet is very dangerous.

your contribution to the conversation was to blame people for being there in the first place and then brag about how good you’ve got it?? did you read that post and actually consider how it would sound to others?

when you first start the game, the official servers are right there. most people pick the one that’s highest populated at the time. it’s that simple. to the uninitiated, it’s easy to assume funcom’s servers will be the best run, because they’re the developers of the game. and as said above, a lot of private server owners are control freaks at best, and megalomaniacs at worst. you don’t just know who to trust right off the bat.

a lot of people on pve officials are very nice. i wasn’t hit as of yesterday, but i’d moved on to a private server i really enjoy and logged into #1520 to check on the state of things. a ton of people were hit by this. at no point did i think to ask those people who were hurting why they were still there to begin with like they were at fault for what this no-life loser did.

“it’s just pixels,” but as you so elegantly laid out, your server is taking measures to prevent players from feeling like they wasted their efforts—aka, losing pixels. -_-

I mean… if a private server admin asks me to download a crypto miner infested executable… I would probably skip over that server :joy:

Or any executable at all. I mean, WTF? As an official server player, I understand people who don’t want to play on private servers. But of all the reasons people for this, how did we get to crypto mining?

Ah but would you store it in a storage shed that is being paid by someone else that at any moment would close it off and leave you with nothing?

This is the 1’s and 0’s @Alexandria is suggesting here. While the attachment maybe real, it’s flawed in that it’s not truly yours. This goes back to the falsehood that FC still promotes to this day. That officials are a safe place to hold up because they don’t wipe. But at the same time, they view officials as just a gateway to playing and not worth excessive expense to maintain.

If officials had periodic wipes, many issues would have resolved themselves in that body vaults would die and that would damper zerg clans and gives new players the ability to experience a fresh and empty world.

Most of the problems with CE and officials (even the hacks) can be traced to this mentality that they should be monoliths and not just temporary play.

I am on official since day 1 and although i have been on privates as well, I wouldn’t want to play anywhere else

Yea that sounded weird to me as well, as I haven’t heard of anything like that before

I’m thinking maybe we both misunderstood and the parallel being drawn between the hacker and private server owners wasn’t the crypto miner, but rather just the generalized “wanting to make money” aspect?

If that’s the case though, it’s very easy… the difference is clear. One of them is a malicious hidden program inside of another program… while the other one is what? greedy server owners operating item shops and charging players fees to play? Because there isn’t anything else they can do within the confines of “just the game and the associated servers”.

So while this second one is also not legal and a very repulsive practice… there’s a major difference, since it relies on people willingly giving them money while being fully aware of the situation… People should be responsible when spending their money…
