I really feel you. But look at it as an opportunity. Many other great games out there just waiting for you to try out and maybe even fall in love with.
When I stopped playing wow, afterr Cataclysm came out and everything changed and I didnāt like the the change, it was like some heavy weight was take off my shoulder. I played Mass Effect and other really nice single player games, until I went back to MMORPG, and found Star Trek Onlineā¦not a great game, but a great installment within the franchiseā¦never missed a day of loggin in since.
Now I can see, that more good than bad came from leaving WOW.
As a customerā¦
As a personā¦
Donāt stay where one is obviously not wanted.
I guess the decision if i keep good wife isnāt too difficult⦠canāt join my own server no matter what i doā¦
Canāt be the wi-fi because joining official servers works just fine.
I will try it again the next days for sure, but iām not willing to pay the rent for a server i canāt even join.
Infuriating
Thatās infuriating
I tried to log onto your server there @UNfun, to see if this would prove more successful than logging in on Singleplayer. Myself and LostBrythunian had a pleasant ad lib during the process, but unfortunately I could not log on/load the game, and neither could he. I will give @sestus2009 server a go sometime today and report back.
This is beyond infuriating gentlemen. My partner is stuck in the same situation as I, and she upgraded to a pa5 at Christmas and still cannot play it, so itās not the console. I purchased this game (twice actually), and as it stands I have been unable to even play it for 40 days now, since it was rendered defective by Funcomās update! And all the while Private Server admins out there such as @UNfun and @phoenixcommand were/are paying good money for something which does not work. By rights Funcom should be considering reimbursing them for the days they were still paying rent and it was unusable. If I hire a car for 3 days and it ceases to function after 1 because the companyās shoddy repair work rendered it undriveable, then there is no way I should have to pay for the remaining 2 days. Then you go to see their customer service department and they lock the office door, turn off the lights, shut the venetian blind and hide under the desk. I am sorry Funcom, but right now you are behaving like dishonest crooks.
@Caroll @AndyB
Please come down here and 1) share whatever potential workaround and suggestions you have up your sleeves, if any. And 2) update the playerbase on a tentative ETA for a fix for this issue.
For my issues, gportal was able to fix it real fast and was really responsive. Problem is I have zero idea what they did to fix it, as it was at least reachable on their end.
It would seem I have had a positive development on my end. And at the very least I feel I should be transparent about my situation and āput it out thereā in relation to my own staus on this issue.
So needless to say I have still been trying to load my game sporadically, primarily on weekends since my game first became affected by this issue. Just over one week ago the game loaded, it actually freaking loaded! (apologies I did not share sooner, I have had a lot of RL things going on) I am at a loss to explain why from a technical standpoint, but by goodness, after all of this time, whatever it was I will take it.
It was achieved not on my Singleplayer game (at least not initially), but at first on online servers. So first I tried @UNfunās Good Wife Hunting server again, and thereafter @sestus2009ās Wyrms Bane. And lo and behold, the game loaded. So I thought lets try and capitalise on this good fortune. I tried my Singleplayer game and it worked! IT ACTUALLY WORKED! Though the way in which it loaded in was a littleā¦irregular. Happy to elaborate upon request, but I will not include all details in this post, as it is already rapidly becoming bloated.
Now it may be tempting to dust ones hands off and say āwellā¦problem solvedā but I would politely urge restraint against such conclusions.
Please do not get me wrong, I am humbly grateful for this unprecedented good fortune, and whatever forces may have have spurned it back to life. However, my partner did not share in my good fortune, and she is still unable to play the game at all on her ps5. Moreover, the issue is still ongoing for numerous members of this thread. Therefore, I would still strongly urge that this issue be treated as one of the foremost priorities and patch it in the NEXT hotfix or update, whichever comes first.
Now you and your partner can play together again⦠sounds nasty, but also fun!
But i know what you mean by RL obligations, i also didnāt have much time, but i hope we see each other soon⦠and the other boys of course!
Ok so I do not want to keep beating a dead horse. So until such time that a resolution is to be found, I am just going to let this thread fade out of circulation once I make this post. It is what Funcom was unwilling or unable to do to assist affected members with this issue; a list of suggested workarounds which I have cobbled together. I am sorry they are fairly generic, but this is the best I as a regular player could manage. Here they are.
Possible Workarounds
Try the following:
- restore licenses
- uninstall then reinstall the game application
- go into safe mode and rebuild the database
- log into an online server, log out, then try to log into your usual save game
- disable living settlements for now
- try to log in both online and offline
- if you can, switch from quality mode to performance
- do not log out with a high encumberance, and ditch all uneeded items from your inventory before you do (keep it in the green)
- try to log into the Isle of Siptah first, then the Exiled Lands thereafter. Or vice versa if Siptah is your primary game
- if you are only a newer player, recreate character
IF and when you manage to log in again:
- if your base is large, log out on a bedroll or smaller outpost build away from it
- station Liu Fei and Freya away from you main base and your log out point
- avoid having a surplus of followers, especially crafters out in the world
If anyone else has any others they would like me to add to the list, please feel free to let me know. And a thanks to all members who helped make these discoveries.
With the hotfix released today, are any of you who have been experiencing this able to get into your singleplayer game?
Iām seeing varying success from comments on forums and elsewhere.
Yes and no crashes. all good so far. draw and sheath weapons isnāt working. I can live with that. I have living settlements turned off and I plan to leave off. Why go looking for trouble until they sort it out. Update. The weapon draw and sheath is working fine. I just hadnāt played the game in so long I forgot what button it was.
Nope, still in Loading Screen Purgatory.
Same here. No single player game on EL for me since October. In fact, I donāt care anymore.
(blatant lie, I miss my finished and work in progress buildings really much).
Canāt even make a meaningful bug report because game simply hangs and has to forced quit so no user-available logs on Playstation.
Crom coins spend since then? 0.
I stopped playing the game on Xbox One for years because after an update my save file just wouldnāt load anymore. Long story short, I put hundreds of hours, mostly building things, in to this save file and it just suddenly would no longer load. As soon as it seems to finish, the game instantly crashes. Now, thereās only one save file and Iām not about to risk losing those hundreds of hours of work. Finally, recently I bit the bullet and started a new game under a different account. On the second day, THE SAME THING HAPPENED to the new save, except that instead of crashing, the bar gets to 100% and just sits there⦠forever.
Once the game worked.
Now it does not. And it hasnāt for a long time.
This is NOT acceptable or okay. And from the looks of things, my issue is as far from being unique as it is from having ever been addressed.
At this point, Iām afraid to start a new game, either on the second account or an additional one, becuase, frankly, I EXPECT that at some point, completely at random, Iāll lose all my progress. Under these conditions, given that gameplay requires crafting and building infrastructure to progress, the game is essentially unplayable.
I finally was able to take my console to a friendās house and do the most recent update (well, several updates because it had been a few years) and do you think that fixed the problem? Do you think it made any difference? If youāre thinking yes⦠you would be wrong.
I thought about switching to a PS5 copy. Surely a more powerful system would handle things better, right? Only, it looks like the PS5 iteration has the same problems.
You need to fix this. Even if you donāt fix the game so it doesnāt crash (possibly by optimizing how in game resources are loaded and handled), maybe at least incorporate a two-file save system so when -not IF, WHEN- it crashes, it canāt corrupt the ONLY save file and thereās a backup copy available.
