Funcoms counter intuitive designs

My main one I get a kick out of is this one…
Increased stack sizes in most mats, but now cracking down on overbuilding.

Here is why it is counter intuitive.
I can farm and carry more, store more, but I can’t use more. Why have bigger stacks of mats if all they do is stay in chests? Just find it ironic and proof that the left hand is not talking to right hand all the time in dev meetings.

Very fair point. We have talked about defensive strategies and I’m wondering if they are prepping the idea of more mats for building structures but those structures have more HP…making it more hardy against explosives.

They increased stack sizes because number of stacks in containers also contributes to lag…

Are you people really this desperate for a gotcha moment? Go touch some grass, fence stacking is gone.

My game lags every time a chest quick loot window loads.

I think they should remove chests.

Please, please be joking. I’m 90% sure you are, but this is the internet. You can never tell

Causing excessive lag is against the terms of service. It can be exploited to prevent your base from being attacked. Chests should be removed from the game.

Ah okay to be fair some people only have a few chests.

I think a better solution is just make a secret limit and ban anyone who go over it.

Here’s the one I’ve just come to realize:

They encourage forum discussion, say they are very interested in our feedback, and promote active bug reporting.

But the chances of them using any intelligent suggestions or actually considering any sane feedback is just a wee bit over 0%.

And the chances of them fixing any bugs that were reported is below 2% for sure.

I do like the cut of your jib, but I’m afraid that I must continue to take the platonically flawless logical position that the only fair way to deal with exploits is to remove that which can be exploited from the game.

Not really shrinking the chests because I can carry 200 slots on my body, and added oils for 50% faster harvest, quick travel on CE, all equal more mats when I return home. Thus I will still have roughly the same amount of chests despite the stored stacks. And if they were shrinking storage, then why not just make things decay, because now at some point even builders will hit the ToS threshold and just start storing stuff. Again, counter intuitive. Can try and rationalize, but it is what it is.

I do see your point but in my humble opinion it’s only an exploit if it’s overused.

And they obviously can’t set a hard limit on chests. Empty chests cause less lag than full chests.

Maybe 100 empty chests are ok. Maybe 20 full chests aren’t. You won’t know until you get banned.

It’s just a fun new game mechanic!

Yeah, another one, many vocal pvpers dislike meta of offline (and the ones who quit due to babysit base burnout) so they make it easier. Again, no plan of action, just action by devs.

To be fair…next month’s fixes are already set as well as the month after. Unless you can find a program crashing bug, it will go into the queue and sit until it’s number is called…probably about a 3-6 months window for most bugs…critical ones move up quickly and ones that don’t affect anything really at all (floating gazelle at Exile Refuge) will stay low.

I agree, it’s like a loot box in reverse where if you get “lucky” you get banned.

Ah, good Ole Rudolph.

Yeah watch he carries a SoC or something.

Or you could stop collecting 100k stone every single day… if you don’t need a resource there is no need for a massive reserve. I keep two stacks max of spare building materials after I finish my base just in case. Nothing else is necessary. That’s a pretty weak argument and just goes to highlight the gross excessiveness that the TOS are trying to cut down on

Ah I could…if I knew what I was doing and had blueprints when building. I use about 4X the amount of mats for builds because I keep changing it mid-stream when it doesn’t look right. My scrap rate is huge. I think I’m going to get docked pay next week.

But what else is there to do? Run dungeons 1000 times. Drop loot off corpses, which again means after level 60 the game grinds to halt. Soooo, again counter intuitive design. Level up, grind, but not too fast or too much.

my main issue when building has been fixed with pickup. Reversed walls were the bane of my existence!
