@Halk Speaking of this, I play pve on 2 different official servers, in one of them I am 8 months there, on the second I play with @sestus2009 for 2 weeks now. In the first one Zeb is there since day one. Maybe she left the forum but she still plays there. I cannot tell you what I own in Zebs server, it will take me days to Wright down . So, speaking for my self only and my friend Sestus can verify my words, I have no problem to loose everything and start from the beginning, I don’t even need my lvl and my knowledge, still I believe that if this thing happens then this forum will explode with complaints, don’t you think? I respect you, Taemien and SirDaveWolf a lot, still I think that this idea might had catastrophic results for the pve world.
Have you actually tried doing this before? Its not pretty. Database corruption is very much likely.
My point is, who decides which servers are the most “dead”? Wouldn’t it be just as easy to wipe those servers, sans levels and feats, put in a building limit, then see how many players return to the empty and cleaned servers? IF you are going to nuke servers, then it would be a perfect time to see if the overbuilding and spamming are the issues. Worse case is no one returns to those servers, then you have an answer, can shuttered them down knowing the player base is what it is, and the chance to grow it has passed. Just a thought.
Well, add one more cheat to the list. Apparently you can make the timer on a summoned god last as long as you need it to.
The alpha on my server got wiped out tonight by a single god summon, despite owning the largest base on the server, because of that cheat. Wish someone would jump on investigating the report I sent in before there’s nobody left on this server…
It’s not true. I had a private server for 9 months, I was the admin, and I never used the admin panel. I know many servers are like you say, but not all servers. Server reset… Just one time on 9 months. For every change I asked to all players. But no-one help me with the payment, so I closed all. The best thing would be that every players pay him slot.
Bugs, not “hacks”
But aren’t most of the bugs “hardcoded”? Im nowhere near enough experienced with modding or even coding, but i often hear that some things are “hardcoded into the game” which goes beyond what modders and toolkits can achieve. To my understanding, that means that the core of the game is not accessible to modders, that is reserved only for developers. And thats the case because nothing would stop anyone from learning how they made the entire game and make a copy of it.
So basically “fixing the game entirely” relies completely on how far devs will let you go on their game
sure not all servers but my experience was majority of private server bad experience because of admin problem. and was serving has fresh meat for people around admin. i know there is some good admin but they are not majortiy, so keep the good work.
@azaroth True, very true. Some private servers had admirable administrators and believe me I played in a lot of servers in the past. Most of the private servers however didn’t have so good admins, but I cannot still say anything bad for them. The reason is the fact that admins pay so you can play in their server, so their money, their rules there for I cannot blame them. On the other hand this is the reason I favor officials, because all the players have equal chances and I have to thank no one about it .
I agree about favoring officials. Too bad cheaters, exploiters, and general nonsense have made them a desolate wasteland.
+1 here aswell.
“And every single time, you know what hurts even more than the time lost? Knowing that Funcom will never lift a finger to help repair the damage done.”
And do you know why? Because YOU HAVE ALREADY PAID for the game. Have you seen all the drastic changes they are making for Spitah? This is because people have stopped buying it (their approach was unworkable in the context of a pvp server). If people want to get Funcom’s attention, what they should do is stop buying new DLCs, expansions and others until they start moving (it is a company and it moves for profit)
It is nice to play and know that you have the same possibilities as everyone, isn’t it? That’s why I totally agree that hack problems is first priority. Don’t stay away from the game, play a little pve, cheaters doesn’t matter there . If you want some excitement go and build in the mount of dead with sandstone foundations, the cimmerian berserker purge will destroy everything
.
No, seriously now. You play the game too long, new players need you, they really do .
The problem is they created this bug themselves and now leave it for us to have to deal with as they just do not seem to care that this bug is game breaking. To be honest I do not at all think any of the devs even play it anymore or they would be fixing some of the bigger issues.

Don’t stay away from the game, play a little pve, cheaters doesn’t matter there
The cheaters are even worse on PvE Servers.
You, as normal player, cannot do anything to them. They loot ur stuff and you never get it back from them.
Undermeshing, speed cheating, moving through Walls are very bad in PvE only because you cannot do anything to them.
O M G. REALLY? I envy so much the pc players that has all the mods, faster gaming experience, better graphics. Imagine that I spent 4 hours to place correctly the lights in my elephant tower for the contest and I couldn’t take a proper night photo, because the tower was very high and I had to take some distance. So from this distance I could see no lights . The magic on consoles is low, really low. Still we don’t have hackers (or I didn’t meet one). I want so much to go pc and play with some persons here in the forum, still this hack issue is a plague. Finally I guess I have to feel sorry for you more than envy you. Please don’t take it wrong, I believe you understand what I mean when I say : feel sorry : .
Today we have the same problems again.
I confirm everything that the author of the topic said. I personally do not need any kind of compensation for damages. But over the years of the game, I would like the trend to be changed. “Funcom responds too late to problems or does not respond at all.” Ask any player who has encountered cheats or the use of bugs. Most of the bugs, it seems that they work through the emulation of the admin panel. Is it really impossible to make your own tool safe? There was no reaction at all to the last 3-4 applications for cheating, and it was obvious. A month later, a message came that there were too many applications and we hope that everything has already been resolved by itself. Look at the battles of the major clans of the Euro region. Most often, cheaters are used from one side or another, or both. Finding the undermesh base, you understand from experience - and what is the point of writing a complaint? It will most likely not be considered. I was told that cheaters are profitable. Even if they are banned from the steam account, they will buy a new copy of the game. This is money. I do not know if this is true. But it is better then to introduce an official donation for cosmetic things.

How many legitimate players need to be lost before it becomes a wakeup call?
Well they don’t care. Game is a PvE game and they target this.
It’s easier for a game dev to focus on PvE only. Because balance/cheats/exploits are hard topics and problems that need to be adressed.
