Gain access to higher more powerful sorcery but you must write your name in the book of Azathoth, which would mean your stamina and health for your character are now permanently corrupted at half, you cannot cleanse it, re-roll your attributes, or from a dancer or any other source once you click accept.
Then you get access to things like Star calling, Blood moon beast, actually being able to have demons defend your base. Includes demon bats for your roof. You still have to go out and craft pages etc to upgrade at the thurmaturgy bench. I would like to see a demon building set also at some point.
…and be at the mercy of Funcom when they change/nerf something on a whim?
So now you’re at permanently half Stamina and Health and can never respec or cleanse corruption… their next update gimps Sorcery even more, and your only choices are to either suck it up or delete your character and reroll.
Yeah but since you made the sacrifice for your character they would have to keep the new powers at least, lately though I see your concern there is no consultation, so perhaps to keep access to the higher powers you have to do a ritual that gives you the powers for say 2 weeks but during that time you can’t cleanse the corruption. Sound better?
Seriously, though, I understand that in a professional and mature organization, this will be the case. No decision would be made to change the rules on a whim because the company thinks it might be neato, because such a change would negate and punish the effort of long time players.
Funcom has demonstrated they will SQUIRREL their way through releases, in search of validation for poor ideas.
This far, I have been able to realign and still find joy in the game, but it is getting harder with each misstep.
Both of the last two betas were so poorly done that I stopped my playthroughs. No one pays me to play this game and I already have a job I can’t wait to leave for retirement.
No. Never. Don 't ever ask for something that is permanent in a video game, it will only end in tears.
It is inevitable, as sure as the sunrise every day, that this would lead to a series of problems as the game moves forward. Removing the ability of the player to re-configure their character is never good for players, no matter how it feels beforehand.
I go along this line of thought not without reason, often when a character gains any meaningful power especially as a spell-caster it’s more often then not assumed to be over-powered, take lightning storm it was bugged but got nerfed below its intended purpose, while a mere ram is now the most dangerous thing. To justify a greater tier of power, the community would need justification for it.
Though you did miss my previous response where I wrote a more flexible means of the process, it would have been fair if you had of read all the posts first.
Thanks for the info will make some good reading, wouldn’t be surprised if there was some back information I don’t know about, I looked on YouTube found a video on different conan lore types of magic, but most of the info is probably in the books themselves.
