Last night 1530 had 3 different speed hackers and 3 people lag switching at the same time… Accounts are dirt cheap and anyone who sucks at pvp can get cheats with no effort. The game needs someone to moderate real time like 1x a day. The 2 week+ time to get a ticket answered isn’t cutting it.
Let see. 3 shifts, per server. 1 person per shift. $14 an hour. 1,3 day and 1,4 day work week. by 750{?} servers.
So half a mill a week. You got half a million bucks to spare? A week.
Yup… it sucks so much.
Or they could have a subset of paid servers with clusters admined.
Or they could get BE to do it’s actual job. It feels like they got the basic package there.
It’s so bad right now. Used to be that they actually hid pretty well.
Now there’s clans of them too. They don’t care because you’re 100% correct, they can just buy another account for the price of a coffee.
Doesn’t have to be 24/7. A little presence would do a LOT.
1-2 people on a single shift each day, 5 days a week, actively monitoring reports to see which server to hop on. WHILE also working the current ticket queue.
That’s about $1600 per week and would greatly improve the player experience. That means higher player retention. More $$.
Its funny watching people mention the fact there is 750 official servers. I will bet you $1000 that 90-95% of those servers have little to no issues on them, and the enforcement people would like would only have to be on a handful of popular servers.
it seems that in the last month i’ve been running into large groups of hackers on just about every server with a population above 25 at raid time. before it would be 2-4 hackers at a time now it seems like its always 10 or more
I’d bet 90-95% of PVE servers will have no less then 6 ToC violating builds.
But how many of those servers have reports coming in? Does a server with 5 people on it (with building violations) yield the same reports as a server with 30-35/40 (with building violations)?
I bet they dont.
Let’s remember that this topic is about the huge problem with hackers on Official PVP, not landclaim violations.
Lag switching has been a problem since launch and still is today. I see lag switching garbage every day on official pvp servers. Funcom should ban game licenses and should also fix latency tolerance of servers so this isn’t even a problem.
Playing on 1530 tonight there are 3 no question about it hackers running around. One maybe. and another group spamming stuff in chat to lag/crash people who see the chat box.
The chat thing isn’t a hack though.
Just play on private servers. I’m probably triggering all sorts of sensitive people here since this is the second time I’ve plugged my own server today, but I’ll tell you the same thing I told the last person: Official servers are notorious for cheating, bad moderation policies, and horrible lag. If you’re looking for PVE-C, my server is the most popular non-RP server: 104.128.58.121:7777. We have been going strong with an absolute free speech policy for about 6 months now, and it’s been great. We don’t ban anyone unless they’re caught cheating, and we do actually watch and ban cheaters. We have both Siptah and Exiled Lands linked together for travel between them. Our servers run on better hardware than other servers, which is probably the main attraction. But if you’re looking for PvP or PvE, check BattleMetrics for servers with a 7777 port. That at least means they’re probably dedicated and run on slightly better hardware than typical shared servers. Best of luck.
Apologies.
But my original post still stands. If Funcom invested time into reports on hackers the game would be vastly more enjoyable. Instead their focus is elsewhere, as is their communication on the matter.
Where is their focus? Don’t say Dune, those servers don’t exist yet, and I know you’re not so naive to think developers handle tickets.
Age of Conan?
The Secret World?
Anarchy Online?
Oh wait. I know… Its Empyrion’s two official servers. That’s gotta be it.
probably focused on another useless animation like dive and the new finishers. Maybe after a finisher you can don the Arnie sword dance automatically as the camera pans around you.
Focus is about leadership. which CE has none for actual useful long term game loops and customer satisfaction.
No, I dont mean another one of its games but rather its focused on land claim violations rather then what I consider actual issues in the game.
Like I’ve said, if we had land claim flags, and hard coded limits it would free up the moderators to deal with hackers and exploiters.
