Has FunCom ever given an official answer for why this is so difficult/time consuming?
This is not about techniques for killing NPC’s (like using gas orbs, or which weapon is best for doing it). I’m not asking how anyone else does it, any discussion of how we do it is beside the point.
This is not asking for people to speculate possible reasons. I can invent speculative answers just as well as anyone else. It could be for lots of possible reasons, but if FunCom hasn’t said it then it’s just speculation.
What I’m asking is very specific - has FunCom ever released an official statement explaining their reasons for making it such a waste-of-time annoying activity to kill unconscious NPC’s?
I can’t tell if you’re joking… this is a problem that goes back all the way to the very beginning of the game, years before Sorcery ever existed.
What I’m talking about is very simple, when you knock someone out you should be able to get a guaranteed one-shot-kill while they’re laying on the ground unconscious. This has nothing to do with Sorcery or the sacrifice altar.
Maybe not to you, but it’s been the cause of a constant stream of threads going back to the very beginning of the game. Clearly a whole lot of people who are not you think it’s “been an issue to argue about.”
Having said that, if you’re happy with the current status quo, good news, you do you.
They have always been an instakill for me. And most of the time I just leave the unconscious tharalls and take the one i want. Is this an official server issue?
So, just to clarify, you’re saying that you’ve been able to kill every unconscious NPC you’ve ever had laying in front of you with a single shot, from any weapon, any time, anywhere, with no exceptions. You never miss, you never fail, every time you swing/stab at an unconscious body you kill it in one shot. Is that what you’re saying?
It’s an everywhere issue, official, non-official, single-player. Do a search on the forums and you’ll see that it’s come up many times over the years. This is an issue that players have brought up since beta.
@IOOI@Oduda While I appreciate that you’re trying to be helpful, you’re missing the point. As I said in the OP, “This is not about techniques for killing NPC’s”, I already know plenty of ways to kill NPC’s.
The entire point of this thread is to ask one very specific question, has FunCom has ever publicly addressed, in any official statements, this flaw in the game mechanics?
Yes never had an issue
I play on private single player server and have player damage turned up a tad like 1x I only nock out the thrall I want anyway after killing the rest.
As this one understands it, and this is a many years stale memory, it had been mentioned that they wanted unconscious humanoids to not instantly die when taking damage so that they didn’t instantly die while you were dragging them home and there was some incidental damage incoming.
With the advent of the execution options, finishing off unconscious foes may be something to explore.
Now that you mention it I do vaguely remember player’s saying something about thralls dying too easily dragging them back to base or something like that. Was this around the same time players were also debating about thralls not being able to be dragged across water?
Let’s take a step aside.
Consider the problem of stunning slaves. We can give the thralls stun clubs and they will silence everyone. As you know, we do not have an official, unmodified way to change a thrall’s weapon on command or hotkey.
Then the artifact Truncheon (Coup de Grace) appeared, which we could knock out from the world boss - The Judge (Siptah, New Luxury).
It was assumed that this club would kill all non-named NPCs (1-3 lvl) and stun all named ones (4-5 lvl).
Two problems:
We have a lot of mixed up named NPCs specifically on Siptah (the name without the golden frame).
Coup de Grace works completely randomly - it can stun levels 1-3 and kill any named NPC.
Just the other day I was checking this out.
Just to make sure I understand your answer, you’re saying that even though there are a bunch of threads about this over the years, FunCom has never thought about it. Am I reading you right?
Hey, Funcom! Here, stunned and killed NPCs hang in the air, fly into the sky, and often just fall through textures! (c) 2017
