Heading in the wrong direction when it comes to building size and decor

Don’t do to others what you don’t like to do to you.

Yet, like @DeaconElie said, most of the players play with this principle, not only to the building aspect, but to all

“there are no rules until you get caught”.

But this reply @Frillen was not to say how players play, but why players are triggered from the game design and promotion to do these mistakes when they play on official servers. All this time the solutions relied on “lesser evil”. I believe they can do better than that.

Now @darthphysicist to answer your question as a user and not as anything else…

“is coding worth based on the users”

Before every big update the servers start filling from old players creating humongous and non logical land claim.
When the new update arrives new players are coming to witness a game so broken like never before. Not only because of the quality of the update but for the mess new players find in an already ruined server.
Can you imagine Darth how many costumers, new ones felt like robed because they paid for a broken game?
Is this the truth for this game or the devs of it?
No. But convince them otherwise!
Who’s loosing more, the players or the company? The company of course, this game could have the triple population
So if all the number of people they loose doesn’t worth the coding, what does?

Official servers are the face of the game.
Cheaters will always exist.
Ego maniacs too.

Protect your costumers!

That’s kind of exactly my question. I don’t know the split between the number of people who play officials/SP/Private servers, so I don’t know how to gauge the impact. There are some players who would undoubtedly be put off on having a cap or upkeep system on officials and leave that are playing now vs the one’s that show up who leave because there isn’t one. I don’t know the answer to this. The problem is, if Funcom doesn’t even have clear direction on whether it’s worth it, that’s coding time not spent coding something else… and I think that’s the rub. I’m not even sure how easy an upkeep system is to implement (let’s consider it as easy as anything else tho). What if it was enough work that essentially we had a Chapter that was dominated by a new upkeep system that half the player base immediately disables? These are just hypotheticals of course, but it’s gotta be the case that FC doesn’t like spending resources on something that would just get turned off… that sounds very unsatisfying.

Never said something like it.
I am opposed to any comment that’s trying to present anything as easy. The only easy every single profession has is “easy talk” nothing else.
I only show faith to their brilliant minds, yet priorities in this game must be considered again. I cannot say how, i don’t know, i just say what i see, nothing else.

I didn’t mean it in a judgemental way… I could have easily said “as hard as anything else”. I was only trying to say let’s just assume that it’s a system that takes the same amount of work as say the build hammer, however hard or easy that is. “Easy” for a professional developer I guess is my context (of course it would be hard for me… or impossible…).

I would offer that one thing they aught to do is to put out another survey. One specifically targeted to official servers and what expectations people have from them in regards to various different aspects. And I do mean quite a good many different things. Ranging from things such as how they feel about the current moderation on them. How they feel about the current building system on them. How they feel about the current player sizes on them. How they feel about the current clan sizes on them. Many many other questions, some specific to PvP, some specific to PvE, some specific to PvE-C, some specific to “if you do not play on an official server, what can we do to entice you to join one?”. Just a whole butt load of questions on HOW players feel that their experiences on official servers are and what they feel they would like to see so that they, as a company, can see if there are trending themes amongst the player base that perhaps they themselves had not really considered but perhaps they may now think harder about doing. Add in questions about the harvest rates (are they too high? too low?), crafting speeds (too high? too low?), overall difficulty (too high? too low?), And provide sections for people to write in suggestions as well, such as what features they would like to see improved (maybe some would say religion, some would say cooking/brewing, some might say the entire survival aspect as a whole).

But with this information gathered, and the information that they have on their own end as far as the servers are concerned and what they have seen as the biggest detriments to the stability of the servers, perhaps they can come to some more valid conclusions as to what should be done to promote a healthy enviroment on the official servers? Yes, I understand that this is asking a lot from them (based on track record) but one can still hope right? Right? :sob:

You mean like 20 some clans building a tribute to phallus shrinkage in a settlement area that has tons of NPCs, resources, monsters and creatures and when someone go to such an area that maybe popular to go to for say thralls or star metal that the entire server suffers? What? Say it ain’t so.

I know… it’s hard to imagine, but it can happen.
