Heart-eating horses

Okay, I realize that in the grand scheme of things, this is just a nitpick, but why would a horse eat the Heart of a Hero?

Yesterday I put one in my horse’s inventory. When I came back to my hovel, it was gone. I guess the nag got the munchies and decided to combine cardio with snacks :stuck_out_tongue:

Does anyone else think this is weird?

Doesn’t it expire? or am I wrong about that?

It does, but not in less than 5 minutes. I literally put it in the horse’s inventory (along with other stuff) and hoofed it home. My base shack is pretty close to the northwestern gate to the Unnamed City, so it couldn’t have taken me more than 5 minutes to gallop there.

Then yeah it probably ate it, I think almost any food or consumable that the player can eat so can pets and followers.

my horse eats human flesh often

Its a bug I think that is fixed in every odd numbered patch. They eat everything that the carnivores (I think) eat in addition to their normal diet.

They eat human flesh too. Its funny, but also a bit annoying. And weird.

Horse wouldn’t happen to be named Rusty would it?

Hm, so maybe I should report it as an actual bug.

for(auto item : this->inventory->items)
{
    if(item->IsFood())
    {
        auto foodItem = (AFoodItem*)item;
        foodItem->Eat(this);
    }
}

Thanks for bringing it up, I didn’t knew because to my followers, I always sort by heavy in my inventory and then I put only the heaviest. I noticed that in some followers, to their diet list they have a gap. I assume this gap is for a reason (consume everything), because in my challenges my followers eat bugs, mushrooms, etc… Whatever I find near me so they can be fed. I also noticed that they will first consume the lower of their food chain, that’s why this gap is on number seven of the row if I am not mistaken. The good part is that they don’t eat aloe, this would tickle me, not that is necessary to put aloe in the mount, it’s light, but sometimes, especially on pvp servers you don’t trust worthy items on followers, so if you can relief your self from some kg it’s good.
Anyway, again, thanks for bringing it up, I wouldn’t want to loose a heart in Siptah this way, it would be annoying.

In the Conan world, I would be suspicious of anything that didnt want to eat your heart…

@SirDaveWolf, that for-loop would be an accurate representation if human thralls ate plant fiber. I know we’re just spitballing the code here, but I’m guessing it’s more like if(this->CanEat(item)) than if(item->IsFood()) :slight_smile:

Yeah, but what I really meant was: as soon as it’s a food item, eat it, no matter what :slight_smile:

Yeah, I’ve seen that in action. What weirds me out is that a human heart is a food item for a horse. Maybe it’s my urban upbringing: I’ve never had a horse or had to take care of one. :man_shrugging:

@Barnes
I am happy for you m8, still if you had a daughter then you would even loose your mind too :rofl::rofl::rofl:, the heart is hers from the first cry, now she is teenager and I am loosing my mind too, the most difficult part is that you have to be happy when she has a new boyfriend :angry::rage::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:.
