First thing, I have seen I can do multiplayer (PVP,PVE-Conflic and PvE) I choose with PvE firstly since I think I should learn the game and fighting other characters won’t help me at that.
When prompted I had to choose a server… now here is my question : I i make a character on server X do I always have to enter server X to play that character ? Which servers are always online and won’t do server wipes ? Cause I don’t think i’ll have fun if I do 1 month of learning and then have to redo everything cause the server shut down or smt.
What’s the difference between the servers and the Single player/Co-Op. Is it some kind of simulation on my Machine and only me and the people I invite in the game can play it ? So that would be better for me and my friends if we ever wanted to play together right ?
Does anyone know some survival tips when it comes to food ? I manage to make a base and stuff but I lack food and always die because of hunger because I can’t find anything to kill or that I can kill as a beginner using the sword.
What are the first things one should unlock to build ? I went for housing, campfire and weapons but after that I don’t really got an idea of what should be best for a beginner.
Does this game have builds ? cause Seeing the skill points I was thinking…well how should I put my skill points ? I would like to specialize in combat mostly but maybe there are already builds for this and I would love it if someone can point me to a video or thread with these .
I am sure I’m not the only one with these questions but I did not see a Q/A thread and instead of checking for each question I wanted to add these into a post and see what I get.
Ok, I will try first playing solo and see how it goes.
I did find some guides on YT but I still have questions related to the servers and how they work.
Just gather Plant Fiber, Insects and Seeds Insects are edible by themselves, and if you cook 5 Plant Fibers with 1 Seed you’ll get 10 Gruels. It’s the worst food you can get but you will not die on it.
Re: servers
A) official servers, which are tagged in the server list, will never be wiped.
B) your character is bound to the server you created it on. You can not transfer your character or any items between servers. You can only have one character per server. (You can delete the character and recreate on same server.) You can join as many servers as you like.
C) most official servers have a ping limit of 140 … this is to try and keep the lag we experience in the game down by having us play at the servers located closest to us (essentially region locking). The “no ping” official servers have no ping joining restrictions and hence no region lockouts
D) funcom does NOT provide Admin/game master-like support for the official servers … basically we are on our own if we encounter hostility or anti-social behaviour, or have a crash and lose gear etc
E) pc platform can use mods … solo or multiplayer. To see servers with mods you need to check the option to view them. Private servers (with or without mods) are run by other players and they can set whatever rules they like. These servers can be wiped or shut at owners discretion. Chat to the players/admins before you get too involved in a private server to see you are ok with their rule set.
Co-op games … yes you can invite another player into your game as co-op or you go to them but there are limitations namely:
A) there is a physical tether distance between co-op host and guest … the guest will be teleported back to host if they get too far apart. Including if the host dies and resurrects at a base far away
B) a guest can only rejoin the co-op game when the host is playing … so you can’t continue solo in the co-op if you joined someone else’s game
You can get around that by hosting a server on your own pc rather than renting one. Note: PS4 & Xbox can’t do this, they have to use an external server hosting service.
Another important thing to realise is about the clan system … when you join a clan ALL you have buildings, pets etc change to clan-owned status. If you leave the clan you can’t get them back … all you can take is what you can carry in your inventory. Anyone in the clan can destroy or build. Only vaults are locked access to leader or officer, everything else is open access.
Ensure you trust the people you are joining a clan with.
