So I made a group of devotees infront of the obelisk at the volcano. I placed some archers too.
I asked a guy outside the clan to make a run for it. After about 10 seconds (server was 30/40 something) the thralls started to react and attack him. 3 out of 7 devotees attacked him and all the archers started firing.
When he ran towards the gaseous area, crossing 2 bridges (towards where the cook and alchemist t4’s always spawn), he went on a maproom and disappeared.
I observed the devotees who a few of them followed him all the way through. They were walking back to their “post” so to speak. They would take another route when they understood that their path was blocked. It worked well seeing him orient away from structures and blockades I was impressed for a moment. Until he thought the lava was a free way back. All devotees went into the lava and died sadly.
The archers kept firing from a very long distance, I was impressed by that.
Sometimes archer thralls with axes or bow and arrow bug out and start firing into the sky, I do not know how this happens, but they seem to do that for a while not correcting themselves, then suddenly correct themself at some point.
Axehurling thralls sometimes equip themselves a fist sack of some sort into their invetory and start punching everything, very weird.
If you equip an axe hurling archer thrall a weapon such as the spear, he will equip both and spam kicks for some reason.
yes they can do that, which is reassuring for us “the masters”.
yeah devs need to work on what the AI considers as an obstacle. Risa the brutal and an other random patroling NPC in the voclcano seem to be extremely fond of lava… (same story for snakes and big scorpions BTW)
Yes it’s weird, sometimes they still manage to shoot from very very far and some other times they just run closer to their ennemy or even stop firing since they consider their ennemy to be out of range. It’s kinda inconsistent, exactly the same way the entire AI is inconsistent as well.
i have heard of this bug and fortunately i have never experienced it.
Yeah this is very annoying. Most of the time you can correct this issue by removing the axe from their inventory (while they are fighting) and put it back again in one of the 5 primary slots, but here again kinda inconsistent too, it seems to also depend on how close the ennemy is.
There is also a frquent bug that makes your thralls keep on shooting / swinging after the death of their target for like 30 - 40 sec (fighters will first walk backwards untill they begin their endless fight against thin air) . You can either go out of range of these bugged thralls, or harvest completely the corpse of the fallen ennemy if you want to fix this issue instantly. At least, this worked for me very often.
lol, i didn’t know that, thanks, i must remember of trying it out next time i’m messing around with my thralls
Last test about dancers efficiency with different type of weapons compared to fighters and archers.
I have compared how imiu of derketo (black hand t4 dancer), cruaidh the crusher (black hand t4 fighter) and conchaka of hyrkania (black hand t4 archer) are doing with spears / daggers / bows / and throwing axes against a green locust.
Imiu needs about :
8 spear hits
14 daggers hits
29 bow shots
14 throwing axes shots
to kill the locust
while conchaka needs:
8 spear hits
15 daggers hits
13 bow shots
6 throwing axe shots
Cruaidh as 100 bugged/ stuck with ranged weapons (both the bow and the throwing axes) so i couldn’t get his performances with ranged weapons but i assume he should be about as effective as imiu the dancer with these.
4 spear hits
7 daggers hits
So this is not new: fighter are twice as good with melee weapons than archers and archers are twice as good with ranged weapons than figters.
But what we have learnt here is that dancers are considered as “non skilled” combat thralls. This means dancers will only do half the damage an archer does with a ranged weapon and half the damage a fighter does with a melee weapon. They have some kind of “handicap” with any type of weapon you give them. In conclusion you can give them pretty much anything you like, just keep in mind they won’t be as efficient as “true” combat thralls like fighters and archers (wich makes total sense BTW)
well to me with explosive I would only use it when face with groups of enemies (like a tightly packed group of imps for example) as to me that is most likely what the arrow was designed for
I understand at least one thing about the NPCs who follow me, they attack my enemy only if I am touched. If I piss blood, the NPC finally reacts ! lol
But I think she (my female follower) does not put as much energy into fighting when she wanted to kill me before I knock her out.
I captured Dalinsia Chasseneige (I do not know her English name) somewhere in the North, I tested several things with her, and that’s where I understood that they are poorly programmed. Especially since they do not pass the doors ! They should be able to pass the doors, it’s something that exists in many other games !
Dalinsia Snowhunter. Since you’re in the Desert River area, may I ask you to recruit a couple Darfari and Dogs fighters? Just this morning (on Live) I watched my three (2 Dogs 1 Darfari) fighters decimate many Rocknose in the area without my taking so much as a scratch. This is contrasted with my Shattered Springs T4 Archer who would not deign to shoot this morning, even when I was being roughed up! I am wondering if you are willing to participate, whether there may be cultural differences in fighting stature?
Do you recall at what point in time or patch you perceived your thralls not passing through doorways?
we will have to get a closer look at these arrows when they go live.
But from the very little i have already seen, they will allow you to get the similar effect of orbs but from a longer distance and very quicker as well. It seems there will be almost only advantages in using those special arrows compared to the orbs, beside the fact orbs can be thrown behind obstacle (which can still be usefull in some scenarios).
But assuming you’ll be looking for explosions for 2 main reasons in PVE (to crack meteors shell and to have fun on mobs) this won’t change PVE that much imo, except if these arrows have indeed too many advantages compared to orbs, and then i’m afraid we won’t be seeing orbs anymore, but mainly bows and special arrows.
She DOES put the same energy IMO, when she is working. (dalinsa snowhunter)
yes their pathfinding is definitely not on point, but could be worse imo.
if i remember correctly it has been quite a long time, if not always since thralls cannot go through doorways.
But they should be able to" teleport" (in follower mode) in the middle of your base if it’s large enough though.
But yes this can be problematic if you place your thralls behind a doorway and an enemy is aggroing them from outside.
For now you have to organize your base / defenses in consequence.
