This is something people don’t quite understand.
Even games such as World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV have multiple companies that their developers and publishers source out to. Especially for networking. Almost no one does everything in house unless they only have a few hundred players maximum.
Ultimately the responsibility is on FC they did choose Playfab. But that begs the question, what would have been the better decision? Try to stumble through it themselves and do it in house? That risks outages that are more common. Who does cross play, authentication, and monetary database services better than Microsoft?
Is there even better affordable and more reliable options? Since this community is so quick to dump on one entity out of ignorance, they obviously don’t have an answer to those questions. I didn’t even have all the information at first but was quick to correct my stance when presented facts. Shame more don’t do this.
Applause
I know this.
Funcom has not addressed the players or hosts and there’s no evidence that they’re engaged in fixing it on THEIR end.,over the weekend.
My point is that we won’t see a resolution until the real techs come back to work on Monday.
But, yes. I plan to close down my 3 servers when player activity dies down.
Playfab appears to be fine:
That this got flagged is an abuse of the flagging system.
The game has been virtually unplayable since Friday, February 24 at 8:00 PM ET. As more and more folks try the brute force login technique, the issue is exacerbated.
At the very least, Funcom should be giving us information via official announcements, even if those announcements are just, “We still don’t know what is going on.”
But, that’s not happening.
Because it never happens.
I have enjoyed the game, but, let’s be honest, there are other games that actually work.
Plus, Playfab’s partial outage issue was solved 14+ hours ago.

Can also see the players perspective and act accordingly (like dont worry guys timmers has frozen, or servers will hit a rollback etc …).
That’s a good point. I asked for a decay timer freeze and I didn’t get any answer from Funcom.
It sucks.
Thing is, that wasn’t the context of the thread. The thread was started by someone saying that Funcom “doesn’t know how to do IT” and the discussion was about who, exactly, shіt the bed at what point.
So yeah, I agree with you that the level of customer service sucks, just like I agreed with @croozi that Funcom’s monitoring and incident response time leave much to desire.
Pretty much the only thing I disagree with is this whole “you can’t blame Microsoft” BS. Sure you can. That’s pretty much the downside of this whole cloud computing thing. When there was a huge AWS outage in 2021, shіt hit the fan across the board. From the time I spent working for Amazon, I’m pretty sure some heads rolled after that incident, but that’s small comfort for everyone who was affected. So yeah, if we don’t like how cloud computing makes software more fragile, yelling at Funcom for using PlayFab is a pretty weird place to start that particular revolution.
Where is the client/customer service they should have?
Unfortunately, this is it. What you see here is the customer service they know they can get away with.
The game has been out for years now, and throughout those years this has been the service level we’ve consistently received. It’s not like they just started reacting more slowly and not communicating enough. They’ve been like this for years.
And yet, they’re raking in enough money to keep going.
Who’s to blame for this? If you ask someone like @Taemien, it’s the players, because shіt like this keeps happening and we keeps playing. If you ask someone like @croozi, it’s Funcom, because the right way to treat their players isn’t to just do the bare minimum they can get away with.
If you ask me, who cares? The blame game is pointless and it won’t change anything. In the end, each one of us will decide whether to keep playing – and whether to keep giving them money – after yet another shafting we’ve received. Call me a pessimist, but I’m not holding my breath in hopes that things will suddenly change.
You’re kidding about Microsoft, aren’t you.
Since when did any Windows OS bugs get fixed within a day?
The authenticator process (Playpal, is it?) is a step child of Microsoft (imho).
Not sure what you’re going on about?
Anybody ever use these guys?
Detailed game statistics and history for Conan Exiles. View charts of total player and server counts based on server data.
BattleMetrics used to be the main source of information about which player was playing where. Unfortunately, some people used it to stalk players across servers. IIRC, that’s one of the reasons why Funcom implemented that whole feature that makes players invisible in the player list during PVP time.
GPortal is only responsible for their server uptime. My server is hosted with HostHavoc and GPortal has no control over that. Only console based private servers have to be hosted at GPortal, not P.C. servers. This isn’t the fault of the server hosting providers, they can only be responsible for their service health, not anything that’s the purview of WTFuncom’s authentication service contractor’s responsibility. We still cannot get onto our server and it’s been over 48 hours. No word yet on when it might be fixed.
MIcrosoft does not leave things broken for days on end
True. They leave things broken for years. Including such critical pieces as a way to gain full local admin access to any computer running Windows without password. This exploit has existed since at least Win XP, and is still exploitable on Win 11.
They’ve got better more recently - no-one can afford not to take cyber-security seriously these days - but it’s still not uncommon that they refuse to acknowledge some zero-days even when they’re slapped in the face with them.
Even the Big Four (Microsoft, Google, Oracle and AWS) suffer from service outages, so it hardly surprises me that a small company like Funcom can have them too. And the risks involved in the aforementioned four’s case are somewhat bigger than a decayed base in an online game.
As of this post-EL- 1500,1726, 1750-got in IOS- 6157 6111,6437-got in- So 6 out of 17 servers ive got bases on.
Eleven failed authentication. Tried it once per server.
well you see there is so much wasted dev time in this game
Thrall emotes = wasted dev time
Sheathing animations = wasted dev time
Journey step update in the upcoming patch a HUGE waste of dev time
imagine if there was some actual content coming in season 3 instead of just reskinning the bounty event with farming red crystals FOR THE SAME BORING REWARDS. lmao!
well you see there is so much wasted dev time in this game
Not sure how this is even relevant to this thread. And how do you define “wasted dev time”? Do you mean “content you don’t personally like”, which is a rather more subjective, but probably more accurate, expression?
While I do agree on the lesser need for some of the recent additions. The reworked Journey system is not wasted time. CE is extremely hard to get into without a guide and/or friends to explain the majority of mechanics so a more streamlined guide to how the game works is a fine addition to the game.
Without “new blood” the game and community will eventually decay and devs will drop the game so the addition of a beginner-friendly guide at least gives us a little bit of hope they won’t simply drop this game.
