How do you use a purified weapon distillate?

I do not know how to use a Purified weapon distillate. It’s not letting me sell, use, or delete so I would really like to use it up, thank you!

Purified and regular distillates are used the same way. Open up the upgrade window, Empowerment tab, put your weapon in the big square, then the distillate in one of the bottom five. Hit upgrade.

If it says your weapon is max XP, use your other weapon, or start up a new weapon.

Can this version only be used on Epic weapons? Assemble is grayed out.
