Any game I have ever played if there was a game breaking bug meaning that people couldn’t log in, it was dealt with within a day or two max. 15 days now I have been unable to log in and the replies are it’s being worked on but currently no eta on a fix. This is unacceptable. One of the worst parts is that the problem is because of pet turtles that aren’t new at all. How did you manage to break something so severely that should have had nothing to do with anything you were working on. In fact most of the issues from this update involved things that you shouldn’t have been changing in the first place. I have submitted 3 tickets and sent messages to the people that respond on the forums and I’m still no further ahead. Please reach out to me, I can give you my characters name and any other info you need. I just need her to be teleported away from the base or killed so I can respawn away from the base and then I can remove the turtles and go on with my life content with all the other issues. I think that is a very reasonable resolution but it’s been painful dealing with the lack of support. Do better!
So, they acknowledged my post by clicking that the report was received but no reply and still no eta on a fix. How hard can it be for them to delete turtles? Having an admin move my character so I can delete my old turtles also seems like a fairly simple request. There is either more going on than they are telling us or they just don’t care at all about their customers
I can confirm the turtles are the cause of server and client crashes.
For our servers, we had folks login and delete the turtles.
If you are solo, there is the chance to log in, go to followers menu, and break bonds with the turtle. It’s a race against a crash, to be certain.
Best of luck.
I haven’t been able to log in at all since chapter 4 rolled out, 16 days ago. Just says disconnected from server and the entire server crashes
I had the same issue. One of my clan mates used the method described, but I was not able to connect at all.
And you have every right to be upset. There is nothing about this situation that is acceptable.
There was 0 updates this week on where they are at on fixing things. Do they post somewhere else like Twitter that I don’t see or is the communication from this company really that bad? I just hope that they change how they do things when Dune come out or there will be the exact same problems. Official pvp servers will be unplayable because of all the cheating. Companies need to have more of a presence in and around their games
One of the issues is the flak. Even the community manager gets tons of derision thrown on them just for relaying information.
Why would I want to post some place if I couldn’t do it with out have tons of derision poured on me; well not me but I’m different. Rolls off me like water off a duck.
Regular communication is expected from any company and the negative comments pour in regardless.
No, it’s not the reaction. It’s poor management and marketing.
Getting flak for trying to help is certainly not going to make someone ethusiastic
Being upset is normal Funcom is doing a terrible job on Conan, but come to think of it, maybe there are only two or three people working? and they don’t give a damn, everyone else on the team is in Dune, the bill is king.
I’m not aware of the income that Conan provides you at the moment, but shouldn’t guys treat those who pay better? Think twice before buying Dune, there are much more competent developers and very good titles, remember, the consumer is responsible for that errors are repeated, if you pay for problems then you will receive problems.
For my opinion, I’d say it’s both. Companies should communicate if they value their customers - and Funcom has been historically bad at that. But also I can’t imagine anyone from Funcom feeling particularly enthusiastic at being the punching bag for decisions they probably had no hand in. Obviously, to at least some extent it is the job they are paid for (and we know that Andy does go above and beyond at times), but it would still be disheartening (unless you’re Deacon, lol).
The ideal would be some sort of regular communication - be it a dev blog, weekly puff piece, whatever - just something. I keep thinking back to another game (much larger company, terrible reputation - have gone as far as sending Pinkerton detectives to the home of a player for a mistake the company made!), but they do put out a weekly ‘announcement’ piece - linked directly from the game - that covers stuff they are working on (without details, of course), issues they are aware of, upcoming events scheduled etc. They are predatory b*stards, Funcom is by far the ‘better’ company, but that simple communication buys them a lot of goodwill, or at least patience, from the player base. I think Funcom could gain a lot more if they were to do something similar. (At the simplest level - if they were to just say something like ‘we are aware there is a problem on official servers with cheats using third-party software - we have people working on it, but it’s proving really difficult to deal with and may take some time’ - I would imagine that you would be considerably happier - even though the actual situation would be the same…)
No one deserves to have such vitriol thrown at them as they are receiving.
We can be frustrated and angry, we must use that to communicate in such a way that does not denigrate the character of any employee.
However, there’s mechanisms in place such as rules and moderation. Which is lacking here and on other platforms as well. They have the bonus of free labour from the fan discord but can’t mitigate in their own controlled spaces because they do not have the staff to do so.They do have the ability to control or address abuse; their willingness however, not there.
So ya, I can sort of agree that getting abused doesn’t make one want to talk. But really, all gaming companies get it, some even more than Funcom.
Getting verbally abused by the playerbase isn’t a reason not to communicate regularly such as in regular blog updates.
In my opinion, our indignation is not towards the employees, workers who do not make decisions and who follow orders, it is for those who do take them and decided what they have decided and that is what we have today, an absolute failure, a title full of bugs, very serious errors, I have played this title years ago and by far it was more stable and fluid because now, before my base did not accept me, what happened?
I think if a company has sold a product, then took the product, made it unusable, then they deserve every bit of flack they get. If this wasn’t a video game and it was anything else, it would be considered theft.
Why coddle them when they don’t deserve it? Why keep giving them slack when they don’t deserve it? We didn’t ask for any of these changes. They did this all on their own. It sounds like it’s well deserving repercussions to their silly actions (or lack thereof depending on how you look at it) that has the player base reaming Funcom and to that I say, “Oh well, deal with it.”
I appreciate your kindness… but Funcom has earned every bit of vitriol. They are wildly incompetent and disrespectful of their players time, energy, and money. There is simply no excuse at all and no free pass for the abuse they hurl at us with their forced updates.
I started out with patience and hope, but I’ve been playing this game too long and suffered too much at the hands of this team to have any respect for them.
Respect is a two-way street. Funcom has the power here, if they do better then they will deserve better from the community. They are receiving exactly what they have earned.
What’s with this trend of posting the devs’ faces with stupid memes? Do you think this helps? Or is this just bullying for the sake of bullying as you howl into the void? Funcom’s made some terrible choices recently don’t get me wrong, but how is childishly bullying the individuals on their team constructive in any way?
It certainly isn’t helpful, but it is just as you described: folks are simply howling into the void now because they feel they are utterly unheard. The community has spent years providing constructive feedback here and so much of that has just gone ignored. I can’t say whether that’s by choice on Funcom’s part, but folks are rightfully upset that a game they love is being subjected to such remorseless enshittification.
I just want some feedback. This upcoming Tuesday will be three weeks since the update and 3 weeks since I have been able to log in. I have lost most of my stuff but have been lucky that in our attempts to log in it has managed to keep our main base refreshed. Out of all the messages and tickets I have sent in they haven’t replied to anything other than once saying they were aware of the problem and currently had no eta on a fix. 3 weeks ago when this update went in and people were unable to log in they should have turned off decay timers until they had a fix in place. I came up with a fix that I thought should be easy for them to help me out with but as I said no reply. I just don’t understand what is going on and why they seem to be blatantly ignoring us
all i know is that im never spending a single coin on anything funcom makes ever again
