Greetings All,
How many Oil and Explosive arrows do you need to crack star shell?
Or is it like it used to be,evey one in unique?
Love the arrows!
Thanks
One explosive arrow, to my experience… Nothing more.
If it doesn’t crack with one, then try one or two more.
To be fair, sometimes I get the feeling it might even depend on where exactly you hit the shell.
But overall, in my experience all you’ll need are the explosive arrows, I’ve not used any Oil arrows at all at least
Spookums is correct. You only need one explosive arrow, but sometimes where you need to hit can be tricky. If you don’t crack it in two or three shots, the meteor might be bugged though, so move to a new one.
Well i am old fashion. I use 5 oil orbs and one demon fire. I never use arrows. I 've seen it once on YouTube, it worked, and since then i use this method. Still i find it realy smart to use arrows to the meteors stacked on the edges, but like you i need more info about the case. So for anyone interested i would like to know.
1st :All the bows have the same result?
2nd :You mention only 1 explosive arrow, that means no oil arrows?
If someone could answer to my 2 simple questions i ll be happy, thank you.
I think one explosive arrow should be enough (many times it is). But sometimes you can shoot 30 explosive arrows and the star shell will just keep smoking and nothing happens. Don’t know if it’s intentional, or a bug
Demon fire orbs work great, and if the first one does nothing (like they sometimes do) I aim slightly in front of the ore to get a bounce and that usually does the trick.
Thanks All for the help.
1st: All bows have the same result, yes. Trying to crack a star metal shell is just the work of the arrow.
2nd: no oil arrows ought to be needed at all. To be fair, I’ve found myself able to blow the shells without using oil at all in the past, even when I used orbs still, by just walking up to the meteor and chucking a fire orb directly into it while I was staring directly down at it.
Personally, my reason for using arrows over orbs is that, despite the somewhat steep price that the making of dragon powder overall is, is that you get 10 arrows per “creation cycle”, compared to an orb where you get 1…
Also, while I feel the arrows are expensive to craft on account of the Dragon powder (not saying I want dragon powders recipe changed, just that I find it to be a bit of an investment is all), I find the materials to overall make dragon powder easier to get, because none of them are based around whether you get lucky when using a cleaver on a beast. You can mine or make every piece needed for dragon powder. So in that sense, even if orbs might be cheaper, I feel the arrows are the cheapest because you get 10 arrows, where only one might be needed for a single shell, for a price you can harvest yourself to much simpler than taking a run for salamanders(or where you get your volatile glands) and asking yourself that one question Dirty Harry once asked: “Do I feel lucky?”
Edit: Hope this answers it mate, else I’ll try to explain better if you want ^^
Thank you for all your post . I ,by the way , farm volatile gland from the red mama and the green groom . At the starting of the game, this orange imps and your cleaver is the best way .Anyway ,thank you again for your post .
Splodin imps all day. So plentiful and easy that it makes demon fire orbs trivial.
For me it’s been pretty consistent with using 1 oil arrow followed by 1 explosive arrow.
However, if it doesn’t crack open on the first volley, move on to another meteor and come back later.
