How to control which purge is coming

Hi I just have 2 short questions:

is the type of purge fixed on your location of the base?
we have a base close to the broken basin which is our main base on a dedicated private server and it every time gets attacked by wolves which is nice because we are not lacking raw material, but we would like to have another purge now and then.

  1. is it possible to start for example a highlander purge with a console command or only start purges itself?
  2. is the purge type location fixed? so do we need to get another base somewhere else to get a purge with nice thralls inside?

at the moment we set the purgemeter that it fills rather quickly and have the level 5 which is not a big problem for our thralls to fight it because the attacks are allways coming from the same side.

i think the moment your purge meter is full (reached the first line), your are only succeptible to get purged in any possible area where you have placed foundations on the map, and there is a random factor to choose which one of these foundations/ bases will be targeted, it seems to me that i’m more targeted at bases where my character is standing but it happened to bases where my character was not too, so it’s hard to find the right pattern in this randomness.
i don’t think there is a special command to trigger a given purge, like a silent legion purge for ex, it all depends on the random factor which will determine your targeted base, and thus determine the area of the map as well + the type of purge you will be facing.
There is also a random factor that will determine if this purge will be humanoids only (NPCS) or animals. i have never experienced a purge of both humanoids and animals mixed together (keep in mind frost giants are considered as wildlife / animals).
i hope it answers to your 2 questions, eventhough i cannot say for sure about the special purge command.

Thank you Roro,

I think the chosing which base is attacked is where the most people of your clan are/ logged in or their bodies when they are logged out… because we are 4 players and 2 of them are often in our main base (uncunsious because logged out or collecting / crafting etc) it is allways the target and it is allways a wolf purge and it has most of the time 1 NPC with it who is a fighter or an archer.
this is what is a kind of boring… when you allways get the same purge … me and my friend who is active too are sometimes far away in another base or collecting something and still this base is attacked and it is a wolf pack purge…

that is why we want to have the possibility to call for a demon, silent legion or whatever purge the wolfes are getting boring

My pleasure

Ah ok interesting to know you have mixed animals humnoids in your purge, weird that it’s only 1 npcs though :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
when i get npcs purge it’s like dozens of them and without any creatures accompaining them.

Yeah i can well imagine you are tired of wolves, i was already tired of hyenas at the end of my first purge near the black galleon
But be carefull with what you wish mate , once you’ll find a bone dragon at the end of your silent legion purge, well i hope for your thralls that they will be fixed by that time otherwise you will just witness a butchery, because they simply don’t know how to hit that guy. but if your teamates are there that can be fun indeed !!!

Try to build new bases on different areas of the map and you’ll get different purges. if you want a taugh one, build sthing in the very north west of the northern biome near the 2 big cimmerian camps (mount of the deads), or build near the black keep, this is where you get silent legion purges. and leave the purge lvl set on 6, you won’t be disappointed

The base we have is just the main base we have another 2 which are in hyäna areas but way less fortified so we don´t want a purge there and they don´t change the purge on our main base

but we increased now to level 6 and see what will happen with this

Hi, if you don’t have any luck at level 6, try level 4  level 4 seems to have more variety of purges

6 as well brings just wolfs with their human bossen galvin the wolf (archer) or Darek Fingerbruch (fighter)

we try it out now to build some bases in other areas but I am not really sure anything esle than our main base will be attacked

Nice info ! I have no base in that area…
If you build somewhere else on the map, you will get purged somewhere else i like to believe.
I have about 5 bases on the entire map (all biomes included) on the server i’m currently playin and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM has been purged at least 1 time.

We have in the area of the Schlund another base it was never purged and frankly if it would it would die  there are no defensive structures in this base

@roro4066 how you manage to make the purge go to the next base?? we are building right now one close to the mound of the dead to check if we get other purges but at least until now with all the construction process ongoing the main base is still attacked… do you switch your bed to change which base is attacked?

All my bases have aproximately the same size. All my bases have a bed that i do activate when i arrive ( don’t think it plays a role in the purge targeting system but you’re right to mention that ).

All my bases have thralls, but i do remember having been purged at the mount of the deads while my base was not finished yet and while there were only 6 thralls placed.

But what is interesting and important to note, when i move to a new spot to build a base, I DON’T BUILD ONLY i also go hunting, npcs farming etc…and THAT could play a role in the targeting process imo. moving around the location of your base, loading the same cell multiple times. Hope you see what i mean.

So don’t worry, do your things naturally and it will happen there too.
If you could post a screenshot of your 2 bases + your purge settings, maybe it could help indentify things as well.
And i’m surprised you get purged so quickly, how many players are in your clan?

the purge settings are the reason why we have basically a full purge indication all the time  we wanted to try a lot so we put the lowest 2 settings in the list to a redicioulus low number … we do build for 5 minutes or so and the purgemeter is full

We did this of cause after our main base was full equipped with thrall defense and only with level 1 at the beginning. then we went step by step up to find out that we are only attacked by one side and increased our defense there. The last level was to put it to a test and let a view Level 6 Purges run against our defenses but the wolves are really no match for our highlander killer squad

I’ll post some screenshots tomorrow

Here are some pictures… base 2 is the base we are working on… it is located just south of the mound of the dead. We use T1 material during construction and harden later the outer places. So far no purge but we are confident our 7 T3 highlander guards could handle any L4 purge

our level base has no defense so far. there was never a purge and I highly doubt it would survive any without us beeing there

and finally our main base which has by far the best defense and is a in a good defensable area with only one natural ramp on which we build the main gate. It is our home for quiet a while now so it has a lot of nice things

Main%20base%20side%20entry main%20base

ok thanks for the screens.
So you do have 3 bases actually then?

1 in the desert
1 at the border between the south and the north (the only one being targeted so far)
1 at the mount of the deads in front of braga (your new one, correct?)

And your purge settings are ridiculously low (the 2 settings that makes the purge happen faster)

Ok everything is fine.
Now i would suggest that you all stay near your new base with the glowing skelettons.

1.keep on building

2.go starmetal and wildlife hunting south of the ymir teacher position from times to times so you’ll make your cell reloading regulary + it cannot harm to get some glowing metal / blackice / hides / fur / exotic meats / head trophies…

  1. keep on adding to your defenses
You live near the 2nd if not the best place to farm combat thralls, so it shouldn’t take too long before your defenses reach a descent state.

A purge will happen, no worry.

N.B: i never built at this side of the “cursed water”, so i can’t be sure what you’ll be facing, but if your location belongs to the same purge area to my mount of the deads last purge, you should be facing SPOILERS

Mammoths + frost giants + sabbertooths + frost giant kings. So prepare some archers, or axe / javelins throwers for your defenses because melee thralls are struggling with mammoths, and you could be facing 10 of these at the same time + all mobs previously mentioned of course.

one last question, are your archers placed on the walls all shooting when wolves are attacking?

Oh mamoths… that’s awesome

Archers:

  • I found out that archers are shooting regularly when you make them stuck at distance. so far we build a 2 wall high on the foundations and then celars with no wall decorations. when we had a stair up they walked down shoot 2 times and then go to cose combat. No stairs they stay up and shoot
  • If you put like a reiling or fence or this triangle on the top of the wall they stop shooting immediatly I guess then they have no line of sight.
  • with the wolfes they stop shooting when the wolves reach the wall so the next defense we want to try a 1 step wall to see if closer enemies are getting shot at then. This point I think to reconsider if we face mamoths and frost giants
  • the archers are fun, I sometimes make a wolf go after me and just block him while he is becoming spiked with 20 arrows … looks very funny

What I wonder is how big the areas are where it is considered to select the purge from… For example if we build down in the desert a big defense tower will it trigger desert purges? or how close we need to get to the desert dog camp to trigger a purge from them. the same with the watch dogs of the heirs of the north… how close we need to get to trigger a purge from them

-Your first point is interesting.

-Second point is indeed pretty clear.

-Third point is 100% logic, that’s why i always build “douves”, sorry for the french word… all around my town when i want a very effective setup (which is not always the case btw).
Build a second full wall all around your base / town with foundations and fences when your foundations are really too low so you make sure everysingle mob is stuck behind your foundations / fences and become easy targets for your archers no matter from which angle they come from.

And finally about your last comment, it’s very hard to be sure indeed, i think there are some maps provided by funcom that are supposed to show you which area of the map corresponds to a given type of ennemy (i’m sure some fans here will be able to give you a link to these maps), but it doesn’t seem to be uptodate imo and i prefer to experience things by myself or from hearing others to be more sure of what should happen in a given area.

Very satisfying feeling indeed

Anyway have fun, and don’t forget to come back here when it did happen at the mounts of the deads.
cheers

@roro4066 little update.

as soon as I placed my bedroll in the new base the first Purge of the cimmerian owners of the mound of the dead came

what is a little strange for me is that they are all naked/ will this be different in higher level purges? or is it an effect because we have a full naked server? … makes it harder for me to play with my daughter/wife araound .)

ok i’m very happy for you mate, that can only predict good things for the future :sunglasses:

Very interesting point of the bedroll then. i didn’t expect this to have an impact at all but i knew it was worth being mentionned. Thanks for the feedback and info !

Yeah no worry this is happening to every player.
You face a horde of primitive angry guys everytime it’s a NPCS purge. Hope this will get fixed at some point…because this is not new  but at least it worked, you get purged and not everyone here can say the same thing about purges.

i play with full nudity as well, and i think it’s pretty much the same on half nudity servers too (same things is happening with panties)

and good new is : where i got mamoths / frost giants at one base, i got naked cimmerian NPCs as well …

NB : mamoths/ frost giants can spawn during purges around the black keep too but it’s not cimmerian NPCS that you will be fighting there when a NPC purge triggers
