How to move a modded server file to single player?

I know how to easily move files from a server to singleplayer. However, the mods seem to break. Now I have the file in my SP, but when I log in the mods are broken. My buildings don"t show, items are floating, etc. However, if I log into my server, and then place the server file into my SP file it works, but only for a while. Basically, I think there is a temporary file folder for mods that gets saved and transferred to single player but only for a while. (Similar to how when ive played on a server, then gone to SP, the server’s mods tried to load first).

I am trying to move a giant build project from my server as I’ve invested 8 months or so on this city and castle. I haven’t played conan for months and am taking a break. I’d rather not continue to pay for a server, but I don’t want to lose my build, as I’m quite proud of it. Googling also only helps to tell me how to port things TO a server, bit not from a server while keeping the mods intact. Please help, thank you.

I’ve tried various things and can’t get it to work. I tried copying the servermodlist file from the conansandbox folder and placing it in in the mods list while also deleting the astrisk’s and changing the name to modlist.txt. A guide on this website told me to do that, that didn’t work. perhaps I should leave the astrisk’s? Perhaps I can try arranging the mods in the launcher to be the same as my server’s again. a user on reddit suggested trying to make a private server from my PC, but I only want to try that as a last resort. I don’t care about the content of my chests, my character save file etc, just preserving the buildings.

The problem is probably the file location of the modlist.txt for the server moved to SP. The local modlist.txt file has your local folders and maybe you just need to copy this to the equivalent folder for the single player “server” (or something along those lines). I’m not at my pc right now so I can’t say where it needs to go but I suspect this is the problem. Maybe someone else knows faster than I can get to it.

This has been my go to for running mods personally. You always want to match the mod list and order of the server you are connecting to (for many they let the game do this for them when they connect, but its faster to get into the game when you do it yourself).

This also applies to the map file (server file as its called in the OP). See when you launch into singleplayer, you are the server. Whatever is in the modlist.txt gets used, and its NOT checked. Its not checked because You are the server. You always ‘match’.

But if the map file is from a server that used a different mod list. Then you will likely see what is described in the OP. So what you’ll need to do is setup the mods in the launcher in the order you need. If you’re using the same file you’ve already used, the modded items should come back. Structures built with modded items will be lost as they lost stability. Placeables on non-modded structures or ground should also reappear.

If you still have a copy from the server that you haven’t launched from, I recommend using that. Always keep backups.

Server mod list and Single player mod list are in two different places.

Mods for servers are in Conan Exiles / ConanSandbox / and called “servermodlist.txt”

Single player is in Conan Exiles / ConanSandbox / Mods / and called “modlist.txt”

Make sure the mods listed in the “modlist.txt” file in the “mods” folder matches the server mods. and you should be good.
