Playing on a PvE Official 2500 - after about 2 or 3 weeks of living at this base, I logged out on my bed as i always do and returned later to find i had died at 5:30am to temperature changes. Cool. Lost my whole set of dragonbone armor and weapons. Its not like earth shattering, its just frustrating cuz it seems like the only reason i lose loot, is broken mechanics.
Edit: I live near the brimstone lakes, in the upper right corner of C8, its hot, but its never been deadly, even when naked
Never log off with loot on you. Always store in a container. This is because bugs do happen and you can’t rely on the game at all points.
Do you live in an area that has temperature debuffs?

A key point that is never explained anywhere, if your armor provides you with any kind of temperature relief, when you log off, that buff is taken away. For example, if you are based in the volcano, and have epic armor to keep you cool, when you log off, youre likely to get heatstroke because the game doesnt think your wearing the armor.
Silly, yes…a bug, yes. But its been around for years and unlikely to be fixed. Best thing to do is like Kikigirl said, and put all your items in a chest when you log off. Heck, even when my bases are in the south, or in the jungle where there is no temperature effects, I still log off naked.

I live just east of the brimstone fields in the northwest of the desert. I have lived there for 3 weeks without an issue - logging off the same way every time. I dont understand why this happened now.
“Never log off with loot on you because bugs happen” is a poor motto for a gaming community to perpetuate. Devs need to address this if they care at all, or else Conan will be entering a nosedive if it isn’t already.
Sure, you can always bet the items that represent a considerable amount of your playing time and effort on the hope that the game you’re playing will never have a bug. Or you can recognize that bugs happen even to companies that have much better QA outcomes than Funcom and that a simple precaution can save you a lot of wasted time. It’s a weird hill to die on, but to each their own.
They do need to address it. That said, when there’s a bug that only happens rarely, under circumstances that no one has any idea how to reproduce, that bug might go unfixed forever. That’s just how software development works in general.

This happened to me in early 2019 and, as you can see, the game shriveled up and blew away shortly thereafter.
Bruh , total there’s defiantly less than 10k of us, like on the planet that regularly play this game.
when you go and look at current players on all the servers in the list , rarely there’s double digits on each server across the like 50 servers in each category, on console at any given time, like all of them together PS4+PS5+XB1+XBSX, all the private servers have 0 people and are usually less than a month old, maybe 1k people total playing at a time…and thats a big maybe. This game is a passion project for the devs and a guilty pleasure for us players. Im pretty sure if we had a like Sepemaru Con or something here in the states and all the US Exiles came we probably couldnt fill a convention center. So saying its gonna “nose dive” isnt really realistic, its gotta climb higher in the atmosphere for that…that said I do love this game and hope it does better. I’ll be playing even if it doesnt.
Did you log out next to or above your furnaces? Or a fireplace?
