I honestly do not see the big deal with this part of the patch , what do you need thousands of oil for exactly? A suit of epic costs one day of farming seeds and fish. Not to mention you can salvage epics in mounds of the dead on EL or surges in siptah or world bosses. I guess oil to burn? Coal works almost as well and is thousands of it everywhere. So I am not sure what the main issue is here. Food was nerfed so no reason there maybe I am missing something? I did not like the patch either but this seems to be on the nitpick side of things. I personally wish farming and fishing was way more like ark I personally believe fishing in conan and farming is absolutely lazy and a cheap way of doing it, it needs to be more active and not passive its boring.
None of this will matter once next hotfix drops. We are missing a recipe to create oil that should be there but was missed. Not sure if they will change it but should be one bark one ichor gets 5 oil. Then there will be no need for traps other than a source of food which will mean there will be no need for spam. My video is just a workaround for people who want large amounts of oil until the next patch drops.
Was there any official confirmation from Funcom that the recipe was missed, as opposed to intentionally removed?
Well for starters there is a part of the community that plays pvp on official servers , for them it’s not one armor but multiple iterations , we aren’t asking for more passive things , having to farm insects is a good change instead of auto filling but if you change what used to be a passive auto generating thing , to an active self destructive thing , then you will hear complaints for sure , I would like fishing to be more fun and proactive to , but untill it is the case you can’t wish from people that needs oil to settle for how it is implemented at the moment especially compared to what they were used to
I don’t have much to complain about in the context of this patch(as a single player), more than anything i was curious about how this change was meant to cut down on spam. I imagine it’s much more of a burden to the pvp crowd.
You don’t know my life!
This would be more workable. I still dont like the idea of breaking a perfectly good tool for oil and ichor, but I can stockpile ichor (ps4) in the meantime. Farming creatures breaking my tools and weapons kinda sux… I guess I heard legendary repair kits are easier with the new benches so that should help mitigate a bit.
The decay in the trap mirrors them starving and dying in the trap irl. If you think the timer needs balancing then im not going to argue about that. I like this particular mechanic because it’s a mirror of real life but in a way that fits in game.
I agreeabout the bait and I’ve already said that the traps should catch fish without bait, but should function better WITH bait(again mirroring real life but in a way that works in game).
Not really, starving takes days. Nor is that a good idea for balance. The main problem with fish traps was the passive generation as that meant more traps = more fish without any actual work involved. I used to have 20 traps laid down and that meant there was a ton of fish sitting there every time I retuned to base and I never placed a single unit of bait in one. There was no point in baiting them.
There is also no rate of passive generation that fixes this issue, slower generation just means more traps. That makes fish trivial. Same for shellfish where I would actively throw away a few hundred shellfish every time I harvested. They were essentially worth less than plant fiber.
IMHO, requiring bait was a good idea. Having a timer makes it tedious and boring, aka, not a good idea. They will need to reduce the rate you get bait if the timer goes but I think the result would be a MUCH more fluid and enjoyable experience without trivializing gathering fish.
They need to do something with shellfish too imho, right now I cant see a single reason to actually make a shellfish trap. They do not seem to have a point anymore.
So, yes it does happen. Over time. Hence the timer. As I’ve said earlier, if people think that time needs to be adjusted for balance, then I’m not going to argue that point.
Agreed. I still have 1 out that I bait here and there mostly because I’m from Maryland and if we can’t have steamed crabs there’d be massive Civil unrest.
LoL and what aggressive clans like I typically play with are going to do is start blowing your fish farms to smithereens which will drastically hinder your armor production.
Let the Oil Wars begin… Mwahahaha!
How will you do that if you pick up your fishtraps and go before anybody even knew you where there. Like I said … no glue.
I’m sorry why was this post flagged there’s 0 inappropriateness involved in anything he said?
Is someone here just weaponizing reporting things they disagree with? :I
Just figuring it out that people do that? In all honesty though it has gotten a lot worse since all the changes the knights are out in full force flagging anything that might even be percieved as a negative of the game
Oh, for Mitra’s sake, give it a rest with that whole “white knights are censoring criticism” trope. What most likely happened is that someone out there thought that “you don’t have a clue how PVP works” is a gratuitous personal attack and flagged.
Wasn’t me this time, I don’t think that’s worth flagging, but not everything is a massive conspiracy to “protect Funcom from criticism”.
I saw where someone wanted the fish traps gone. Not sure that makes sense in a survival game since in a survival situation you want nutrients for lowest effort. On land you set snares, in water you stake out a weir or build a trap. In a primitive setting, I’m not sure where else you get oil other than by pressing fish or plants.
However, I DO think I have a solution to the oil/fish trap problem: give us boats, and put sperm whales in the water on the east side of the map by the islands. We already have spears. Problem solved.
Some of us , didn’t wait for Funcom to give us boats , we built em !
( if only they could sail !!
)
I present to you my pirate fishermen
boats :
sorry for the colors of the 3 lasts screens (fake sandstorm incoming made em brighter )
Very cool!
Logic here is now you have to farm more things to make the same amount of goods you used to.
It’s just the FUNCOM’s way to keep you in game.
Yeah. Truth be told, there are jerks criticizing Funcom, and there are jerks defending Funcom, and both appear to be getting flagged pretty equally. But I have not yet seen a civil, constructive criticism flagged on either side. And even posts with quite a lot of vitriol seem to stay on the forums for weeks, so I don’t really see any evidence for systematic cencorship around here.
But, as Professor Osmo A. Wiio put it, “In mass communication, the important thing is not how things are but how they seem to be.” Various conspiracy theories and outright disinformation is spread by malicious people, even those in high official positions, as well as gullible, well-meaning people who can’t tell a fact from, erm, alternative fact.
Heck, I have a mild case of paranoid personality disorder, and I don’t even own a tin-foil hat.
I’ve always used 1 trap per area… its small set up with campfire and press and fridge etc. It looks “normal” But I also have a few bases.
Ps4/SP
I show up to base, grab whats in there. (use to be 50/50/50 + some) throw it on campfire/fridge/press and dump items off and nab cooked fish into compost and then head out.
Now… 15.12.1 fish/crawfish… kinda like ewwww…
I can’t picture new update on PC. Sounds like my whole set up will be broken, instead of going out and exploring…it’ll be sitting in my home staring at fish traps. XD
