When I played “the Witcher 2”, I did not understand why having a blueprint of the weapon, I could not use instead of a simple iron ingot more perfect?. Or having a blueprint of the armor, what prevents me from using more advanced components?
For “Conan Exiles” I have the same questions.
BUT! In addition to this question, there is something else that causes discomfort. For example. I like Aquilonian medium armor. But because it’s cold, and because of the passive Vitality bonus, I have to put it in the chest because I need warm armor with a strength bonus.
Same with building blocks. I live in the North, I have all the DLC, but I have to build walls out of black ice or in the Khitan style (if T3). I want turian-style walls and I don’t want to move to another biome!!!
I want to offer my idea - the ability to change the blueprint . This will allow you to get the desired look along with the desired functionality (in Addition, it will solve the problem with Turan DLC). I see two implementation options for items (they can exist simultaneously).
- In the interface of the workbench, when you select the blueprint, we see several cells where the required resources are shown. I suggest giving the ability to replace these resources via drag-and-drop in these cells.
(Does not apply to Acheron technology.)
I depicted the effect of components on weapon damage. For example, the basis took a frequent set of components. (The first three columns are handles, they give a damage multiplier. The last two columns are the metal from which the blade is forged.(I fantasized with precious metals))
WARNING. The table uses numbers only as an example.
In the case of armor it is much more difficult - the compositions vary too much to determine the General scheme. I came to the conclusion that to create a summer or winter version, you need to divide the Padding/Lining into the appropriate types. For example in winter version will be required fur for protection from cold on 1, and layered fur for protection 2. And summer - silk for heat protection 1 and layered silk for protection 2.

The problem is that compared to fur silk is much smaller, and at initial levels its production is even more difficult than usual. For possible alternatives, it is necessary to introduce fabric and laminated fabric into the game.
In addition, to the blueprint of the armor, you need to add a cell for an additional component that will change the passive bonus to the attributes. (by default, this cell is empty and if you do not use an additional component, the bonus will be default).
I think that the role of an additional component will fit the Lotus.

Building blocks obey the same principle.
Brick + Shaped Wood = heat protection.
Insulated Wood (only for T2) or black ice + insulated wood (only for T3) = cold protection
- Menu to edit the blueprint . The impact of resources remains the same. Sample editor.
- Select the blueprint type. “Sword, Pick, armor-torso, etc.” 2) blueprint Template. Affects the appearance and type of components. 3) List of templates. When you activate each cell, a personal list with possible components opens. 4,5,6) Components. 7) an Additional cell for the measurement of attribute bonus. 8) Preliminary painting. Non-standard Dyes will be required when creating.
Custom blueprints should be saved in the “Features” section, in a separate tab "Custom blueprint.
To make it work, you need -
1). The function allows you to hide unnecessary blueprint. (This feature is needed anyway.)
