Ideas for new spells

Hello Devs

So I was thinking since we have a spell that collects all resources in the local area, why not have a spell for collecting thralls in the area. It could go something like cast the spell to knock unconscious all NPCs in the local area?

Yes. Or why not just give everyone every thrall straight from the beginning? And every armor, weapon and so on. That way you wouldn’t have to spend time actually playing.

In all fairness, a single attack that knocks out a whole group of thralls is already a thing. However…

It’s only on Siptah.

It only works in specific predefined areas and thus it’s only for thralls dropped by a summoned surge.

It costs varying amounts of decaying eldarium depending on type, tier and number of thralls.

Not being the lore expert that @Jimbo is, I cannot say that such a thing exists in canon, but I would think a sleeping spell would be lore friendly.

Mass Snooze might be a bit overpowered, even at a tier-three spell level. However, producing a small, localized gas cloud like a poison orb that inflicts concussion damage might be a balanced mechanic.

I would prefer they change the spells that currently are pointless or work poorly.

  1. I would want the “show corruption” basic spell to actually DO SOMETHING. So far I havent figured out any use for it. It says it shows corruption, yet I can stand next to an obelisk and it shows nothing.

  2. The user of invisibility spell is easily spotted by players. It works well in pve but not in pvp. It would be cooler if it was true invisilibilty, since you cannot attack or harvest while in it anyway, I dont see it as gamebreaking if the invisibility was proper. Also then the reveal corruption spell could be used to detect the user of the invisilibility.

  3. The descriptions need fixing. Mass cull says it harvests all minerals. It actually harvest any harvestable nodes such as trees also.

It is currently bugged and does not do what it is supposed to do, which is highlight sorcerers.

That WOULD be a decent use for it, although in my opinion it should also ping corruption areas.

Mass sunder, random 1-5 stacks of sunder to all living things in the target area :grinning:

Yes I like this idea.

And you are bang on with the lore - there is an account of a spell that was used on entire towns of people forcing them to fall asleep using a “silver lotus” potion. You can read that in the novel “Lord of the Black River” by Leonard Carpenter (great story by the way).

Great idea!

I sense you are being sarcastic. I didn’t need a spell to work that one out.

Number 1 - it’s for other gamers. There is a spell to hide your corruption from others. So the spell to reveal will tell you what gamers have a high level of corruption and are therefore potential problems for gamers in battle etc. A PvP mechanic I suspect.

It also doesn’t pick up branches off the ground. Discovered that one today.

It certainly is. In The Shadow Kingdom, the serpent-men employ some form of this on Kull’s guards, leaving them with no memory of the incident happening at all.

However, I would also be inclined to agree this would be overpowered for game sake. A more localised, or even single target would be closer to balance; or even if instead of making them instantly KO, make them more vulnerable to concussive damage and do it the old fashioned way, with an easier time.

I don’t know if you meant my idea with that, but I was thinking the sleeping gas would do more like 15 concussive damage per second. That would be about the same as a toxic gas, except non-lethal, and would be the equivalent of a basic truncheon to the face for every second that they are in the sleeping gas.

Gravity well - creates no fly zone in area above for short time.
Lightning rod - lighting stikes hit mirror mark only for duration.
Bind demon - makes demon follower perm until not on follow/scouting.
Res follower - maybe done via summoning portal with huge amounts soul essence.
Summon follower corpse.
Find treasue - makes wisp fly to chest locations.
Summoning ritual - creates temp summon portal thats lasts 5 mins but can be placed anywhere.

A few of top of my head

Wrong canon. Demons are not your pets in Conan lore.

Devs have already said this is coming.

I’d like a couple of follower based spells. One would be to change your follower’s look and another to pick up any combat thralls so you can store them. The latter could end up resetting your thrall’s stats I suppose, so it’s not too op. Its primary purpose is so you can reclaim a favorite thrall, such as in the case of transferring servers or putting one in storage, or just to trade with other players. Since we now have a perk reset potion, it wouldn’t make sense to keep the perks. Also, as I said, it would be too op to pick it up and still have god roll perks and fully leveled. So think carefully who you want to pick up and store.

What are you talking about? There are literally dozens of Conan novels where sorcerers have demons as pets…??? That’s called canon lore mate!?

Name one.

Black Colossus comes into mind - and that one very specifically demonstrates how loose the sorcerer’s control on their otherworldly minion is. And this wasn’t a random dabbler in magic, but a 3000-year-old master of magic.

In Phoenix on the Sword, Thoth-Amon (also no amateur) simply unleashes the horror, not even trying to control it beyond pointing it in the right direction.

As far as my memory serves, canon seems to support the idea that demons are fickle and it’s easy to lose control over them. Assuming one ever really controls them.

(As a side note: there’s literally only one canonical Conan novel in existence - the rest are short stories and novellas.)
