If you have no destiny quest are you unable to join Khitai factions?

As the topic asks..

If your destiny quest got stalled (and as FC staff is generally no longer around to reactivate it), are you permalocked out of Khitai factions on that toon? That would block faction gear, or at least the top faction gear, if so.

You normally need to spk w/Conan, which requires the Mark of Acheron be gone, which requires the lvl 60 destiny quest. Then you get sent to Astartes (or w/e his name is) inside the gate at the border, but he d/n seem to have the dialogue if you don’t have the quest.

My oldest toon (who I am just now finally going back and bringing up in lvls after basically abandoning her for my mains, for ages) is an arrogant ToS, so I felt she would backtalk questgiver Sharak, and got any further quest progress cancelled. AFAIK, didn’t have max quests, so it is likely because I backed out of it several times and retried to see what the different dialogues were, and I RPd her as mouthing off, and he made good on his threats of not helping her. If I have to skip destiny, I d/n mind (she would actually not want to oppose fellow Stygian mage, Thoth-Amon, as she believes Set will protect her and she gets to be immortal via the Mark, so it fits, RP-wise), but it gatekeping all the main Godslayer gear is potentially a problem.

I do not think there is any thing blocking you from joining Khitai factions. Just go meet Astreas and he should give you the faction choice quests. You can also join a faction by just killing their enemy if you are not using Astreas’s quests.

Astreas discuses the factions, but gives no intro letters to them, so no joining dialogue at recruiters so far. Will have to see w/a toon that can handle 80s, if you can get faction access solely from hitting the enemy faction.
