That’s why I tell people to report stuff instead of just complaining xD in my case this will be the 3rd post reporting it, couple with some tweets to all conan related tweeters I knew haha.
Anyway, as longs as its fixed I can wait, I could drop some good lines with lots of criticism but I really came, like with killable thralls on pve, just to report the issue so its fixed.
Have any Admins been able even get the Purgeclan command to work? I can start a purge on myself with purgeplayer IE: purge self, and I can empty and fill meters. but I cannot get a purge to start for other clans. when they do decide to work it is completely random. I have seen 2 purges in the last couple weeks.
On my Private Server - purge worked in its full glory prior release.
Until someone (still prior release) reported having used the maproom to teleport closer to a marked-for-purge-location. They received the instant “purge defeated” message.
I re-tested on Singleplayer: Triggering the purge, using the maproom or teleporting via admin command got me the “purge defeated” message.
The only way to not have the Purge being purged was to wait for the mobs to start attacking. Then teleporting would not spook the purge. I spend some 4 hours going back and forth, discovering spots where the manually summoned Purge won’t even trigger no matter how many building parts I put down (i.e. close to an obelisk) and breaking it with teleporting.
After release: No purge ever happened on the private server, despite using the same settings as before. So no more testing possible.
In singleplayer after release: I cannot recreate stopping the purge by admin-teleporting anymore, while using a maproom still instantly breaks the purge, (edit: no matter how close or far the maproom is away, can be half way across the map!), causing the purge to be “defeated”.
Official Server 1809. Users report no purge effects. I have seen a vacant base being purged near Mounds of the Dead. I have been purged twice in two days – three times over the last four.
One of them was different (no quick follow-up message) and caused some damage via Silent Legion. I was under raid by players at the time, so afterward when I got to my Northern base, there were building injuries and no dead thralls. So 1 for 3. The other two times when I got the Purge notification, it was then followed up by “defeated the purge” notification, same as others on the server.
I’ve been playing almost every day since the purge was implemented and I haven’t even seen a purge trigger. I’ve had my purge meter completely maxed out, yet never once. Nobody on my server has. My admin has messed with the settings every which way and we’ve yet to even see it. Either that, or what we do see is sooooo minimal that thralls do a good enough job of making sure we don’t even know that it hits.
Well the Purge was applied to Testlive on April 12, so it was tested by the community for nearly a month before official release.
For me the Purge worked fine until the “Purge iteration 2” patch on April 25.
They made big, untested changes too close to release. Not a smart move in my opinion.
I’m gonna be completely honest with you. Purge v1 was wretched. And as you have assiduously as usual deduced there are changes of substance in v2. My suspicion is they dialed up the frequency, and thus needed to lessen the damage. While solo surviving a whole server, If the avg player had actually been purged as many times as I have, he would have thrown away his entire PC. To me, call me generous, sanguine, whatever – it’s like the PVE-C thing – Funcom’ll take the heat for making the correct decision.
As an outsider my belief after some regrettable consensus on the server is that currently the purge would be much too tough for Solos who want to build a clan as they go. If it’s a happy accident or a nerf I think we can both agree I’ve made substantial claims that it is not bad/even okay overall for the playerbase.
I started playing only a few days before Purge v2 went out so I don’t have a lot of experience with v1.
But from the experience I have had, I liked it. I was purged 3-4 times a day and I was happy with that.
Ever since v2 rolled out, I was purged exactly 1 time; it took 1 week to get a purge and I’ve had 0 ever since. I started a new character at official release and have been 60 with a full purge meter for a long time.
There are countless others that also never receive a purge and many that, when they do, it simply ends before the first wave ever appears.
It is completely and utterly broken, there is no question about it. The numerous threads about how broken the purge system is show that it is ‘not’ okay for the playerbase.
That’s not the context of “okay” that I intended. What I intended is that it is overall not game breaking, considering that it errs on the side of player safety, rather than just a Single Player beast mode.
I’d consider a major feature of the game not working to be game breaking.
It also essentially prevents players from using legendary weapons as without a blacksmith that comes from them, we cannot repair those weapons; that is, unless you want to continually farm keys and hope you get the weapons you want.
In single player, it renders base defenses utterly useless. Hell, we don’t even need base for any reason. I spent the first two weeks after official release without one, I just lived outside because I knew a purge would never appear, no matter what settings I use.
As I said earlier, and I hate repeating myself, it is working for me. In single play 1 out of 3 is not good enough for you, but I say as a player competing with actual humans, one visit from Silent Legion in three days is quite enough.
