Ah but Funcom specifically developed Exploit Hunters for that purpose! Excellent question!
You are allowed to do what you must, but only if it doesn’t break real rules. I mean, there’s an up and a down. Due to landclaim if I can get into a temple or underground, you can’t touch me. Those were oversights. Flaws that needed correction.
This on the other hand is the gameplay mechanic. I’m supposed to build a big honking castle, protect it, and you’re supposed to unseat me. Because BUILD is the central element, one will be doing it to survive and dominate. Funcom hasn’t thrown any fighting contests. What binds us PvE and PvP? Building.
That’s the position you wish to take? Care to provide you counter points to why or how Umborls is writing a falsehood here? This way he may defend himself properly.
Exploit Hunters was merged with Zendesk, you can report exploits there.
I was calling you disingenuous. You are taking his statement out of context, even though he has deliberately explained the context. YOU are lying, therefore.
What he’s saying is actually kind of a black mark for Funcom: they didn’t pay much consideration to the development of the game, when it comes to Official Servers. That’s kind of the rep that’s dogged Funcom for about a decade.
This has been the stance I have had for nearly four years and is the basis of nearly every point I have brought up in this thread. It makes absolutely NO sense to put in a change in the game that affects everyone when it is only to rectify the actions of a FEW. A very MINUTE FEW at that, at least according to YOU, by your statements claiming that hackers, cheaters, and exploiters (which is where foundation spamming and land claim abuse falls under) are not running rampant.
Its much simplier and makes much more sense to simply ban those offenders and let the dev’s do what they do best, creating wonderful content EVERYONE can enjoy.
Obviously it’s not a few or they wouldn’t be doing it. And if it affects official servers so badly, it affects privates even worse in many cases.
I don’t see me saying that. What I see me saying is Funcom has decaffeinated a lot of bad cheaters. Now they’re wiping builders when BUILD is in the game slogan.
We’re looking for a bit more clarification, I don’t know why the disinformed disinterested are so unhappy by this.
The problem isn’t people wanting clarity, it’s people demanding arbitrary semantics to push where the line is drawn. They’re trying to argue every miniscule detail to conjure up some gotcha moment allowing them to get away with things. The root of the issue is mentality. If you go into the game with the mentality you want to build in obnoxious ways to block others, no amount of clarity against that will stop people from trying. This is why I don’t think more is necessary. The rules are defined enough, but when the players have gone feral they’re choosing to ignore the core message behind them.
I’m actually embarrassed for you. This is full-on cringe.
They are watching and reading. Conversing on behalf of our friends, our servers and the future of the game acquits all of us who are seeking peace and clarification. Those who oppose, gang-like, are indicted.
@Cattibria please just remove the people who cross the boundaries as opposed to locking the thread. @Umborls has indicated to me that they intend to answer to some degree my follow up questions when time allows, I would hate to lose that to peoples inability to behave themselves.
I don’t think it is worth while arguing in this thread specifically with people that want to see to our way of play removed. They either think the worst of us official players or would rather FC prioritize their fun over ours. Probably not going to convince them there are good people and experiences on official servers (I sympathize with those of you trying).
Good thing is we don’t have to - FC has decided that clarification was necessary and have opened themselves up to dialogue. I would encourage everyone to post your feedback/questions, hopefully @Umborls can discuss with us more soon, the less bickering they have to sift through the better answers we will likely get.
Its an open forum, its like gravity its there. In addition game development suggestions have been made that would directly have an impact on private servers, especially those running PS4 and Xbox systems who don’t have access to tools to bypass them.
I came to this post a bit late yet I believe that I have great gaming experience from privates and officials so I can give some feedback here.
Before I start I want to thank you for your activity in this thread.
Privates are more, yes.
Privates are awesome because admins are there for any player, trying to cover game or gaming errors, giving a stable and secure gaming experience.
Yet speaking for Playstation only I’ve experienced a lot of private servers crush.
No you cannot build as much as you like.
Now officials are the real deal of the game. Why?
You cannot go admin mode and get everything back on result to destroy your gaming experience.
No parameters are changed so every single thing in the game counts. You have reasons to test everything, go everywhere, farm everything.
So officials, speaking only for pve mode are the best choice.
What is really missing all these years is the Barbaric mode pve official servers.
Conan exiles has the best balance on the hard mode than any other survival game I ever played. It is hard but not annoying, perfect as it is.
Why?? Devs have done a stunning job balancing this mode, why you don’t take it online? I see a lot of complaints and cries here finally stopped about easy pve, blah blah blah, blah blah blah.
Please consider to implement just a couple of pve official barbaric difficulty servers.
Thank you for everything but most of all for your time!
The enforcement on officials needs to be stepped up a few more notches, and the rules are 100% clear. This will provide the best playing experience on those servers. No development is needed to further that goal.
Funcom decides what rules to enforce and how to enforce them. Asking questions and getting answers to them will not change any of that. So when you’re saying those people are “the problem”, what kind of “problem” are we talking about?
I know they’re a problem on the forums, because they can turn a discussion toxic, but so can other people, in other ways, for other reasons. You and @Taemien have proven that beyond the shadow of doubt by derailing this thread completely.
Again, I’m seeing people here who have proven they do not have that mentality, and they are also asking some of the same questions as the people who do have that mentality.
These questions matter to them. Why shouldn’t Funcom answer those questions?
Good, so you don’t need any questions answered. That’s fine. What I don’t understand is why you’re trying to shut down the whole discussion.
