Game mode: [Single-player)] Type of issue: [Enter one of the following: Crash]
Since the latest june 18/19 patch, whenever I play my single player game I keep getting fatal errors. Once about every hour it seems. The first one I just left fighting the abysmal remnant and was riding my horse through the village, fighting cannibals when it crashed. The second time I was just at my base removing my armor while engaged with the tanning station. The first time was during the day, the second time was at night. Both times I submitted the crash report that came up with notes.
Just wondering if others are getting more fatal errors since this last round of patches?
Thanks!
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Play the game for about an hour in single player mode.
Do anything - twice it’s occurred at about the 1 hour mark and both times I was doing completely random things that were different from the last time.
Thank you for the reply. No mods, just vanilla game. Each time it is crashing I am sending the report, so good to go there. Was mainly just curious if it was just happening to me. Have over 200 hours into single player and this is the first time I’ve had any issues and just wondered if others were experiencing any uptick in crashing since the patch. Could be completely unrelated, but thought I’d post to see. Thanks!
As it’s vanilla, does this only happen when you are at your base, or does it happen often when you are far from your base and out in the map? I have found that I have occasionally crashed out fatally when running up to really large bases. In my case, my graphics card is not the very latest and that may play a part.
FunCom released an update a year back to manage how and when a base you are approaching spawns in/loads into memory. When I approach some massive bases I stop when I see it start showing up and then wait before going closer and that works.
Looking forward to seeing other solution ideas.
Great question. Once it happened when I was fighting the cannibals outside of the abysmal remnants dungeon, so that would be a big base that had to load (but I was far away from my own home base). The other time happened at my second home, so a small house, some walls, and a few crafting stations. Graphics card is a nvidia 2060, so shouldn’t have an issue with the loading, but given how finicky some graphics drivers can be, it is certainly a possibility!
Weird thing is that I played on Sunday a lot and no crash. So who knows - could just have been ‘one of those things’!
I recommend doing a verification on your Steam install for the game, a patch might have incorrectly copied some key game resource and created corruption in your install.
