It’s always up to us players to play as we want. That doesn’t excuse bad game design.
I’m gonna have to try bourbon one of these days. Single malt scotch is my choice of whisky, but it never makes me poetic

I haven’t seen a problem when I try out the essentials of having a legendary.
I think the devs said there is a secondary decay mechanism without any further detail.
And, I think upkeep is p2w.
I’m sorry @erjoh but I think you’re a bit off track with this one
I guess there’s always “disagreeing”, but I prefer that when things are more… “balanced”
The change was just bad… and while the Ancient Lemurian Axe was kept at a similar power level it had prior to the update… I’m not sure you noticed, but they actively nerfed 90% of other crafted weapons so it’s not just a matter of “adding better alternatives”
Here’s a taste of it:
And while some of them received some amount of compensation in the form of a heavy damage value that’s slightly higher than their light attack now that they’re separated internally (in most cases still lower than the old light / heavy damage or similar), the bottom line is that the crafted weapons are objectively worse than they were, which makes the ridiculous power gap of the new overbuffed legendaries that much more pronounced…
Now sure… we can be all chill about it and try very very hard to ignore what’s going on here… but applying coping mechanisms and hugging a few trees, does not make this any better of a game design than how it was pointed out by @CodeMage and me and others
Okay that may be just me. I’m happy tonight as my wife is back home.
Ok wow. Didn’t know. I go from iron to star metal. Yeah those suck
Crossbow return confirmed.
I laughed at that they even nerfed the poor crossbows and bolts
EVERYTHING is way too easy in this game these days, it’s complete nonsense. I harvested blood crystals from one rocknose that was next to our base every time i went by it in couple of hours or so. I ended up with around 700 crystals and i bought Momentums, 2 Dalinsias, 5 THOUSAND bars of steel, 4000 iron, almost 5000 tar and so on. And of course the alc base and steelfire that come from the magi boxes.
There are so many things wrong with this game at the moment, the boss fights are a joke, harvest rates on official PVP servers are ridiculous and this one hour thrall breaking is absurd. The game offers zero challenge, the only thing that is interesting is to see if raiders find your stash when they walk in your base and kill every single of your top tier fighters who are equipped with the best armor and weapons with no problem.
And that is another thing, after the new authority perk the followers get better stats when they are following but are weaker than before when guarding. They stand no chance even against a single player without a fighter. Attackers get more and more in the updates but defenses are weakened constantly, no balance. How can this game be interesting to anyone anymore? Couple of days is ok, you start a new server and try a new spot for a base and gather so much materials that the chests are overflowing in an instant. Soon you have everything and nothing to do. Then you just log in every now and then to check if you have been raided so you’d get to rebuild.
Of course there are other servers than officials, but i’m not going to pay more money to be able to play this game as it should be played and we have no good experiences of private servers so that’s not an option for our group. Funcom should just sell the game to someone who has the means to fix the game and return it to it’s former glory.
What I hate about these revamps is that with all the changes we are in a permanent state of half of previously introduced items and systems being broken and out of sync with the current changes. I wish developers would make their mind up what game they want to develop and start introducing some actual content instead of messing with the numbers and core systems on every patch.
The balancing is a joke.
And the boss fights are way to easy for endgear.
But if they make bosses hard again… I want to be able to repair my weapon (not braindead grinding a new one all the time).
Legendary should be endgame, not early game, and also not thrall only gear which it became.
Players in PvP might not like this but this is how it should look with progression:
Stone > Iron > Steel > Hard steel > Star metal / Acheronean > Dungeon / Black-Ice / Obsidian > Legendary
At least this would make more sense although this might be too slow in PvP, its better than:
Stone > Legendary
Right?
Would be fun if FC announced that the entire Arms and Armour system was being scrapped and re-released. That they were setting up base templates for T1, 2, 3, and 4 weapons and armours. They would then apply varied ‘skins’ to all those base-templates. T1 through 4 and Named thralls would have to be used to make the respective levels of Arms/Armour.
To make it interesting, FC could add an Alchemical mix at the end that generated a completely randomised set of added qualities like shiny, toxic, feroxic, +xxx hit points, etc - so there’s an element of randomised unpredictability. Make them have to use an existing T2 item to base the T3 on, etc so it’s replacing the former item.
Then minimise Legendary weapons. Make them only drops of the high-tier creatures or NPCs. Make them only drops, not loot chests.s should find it really hard, even if as a party, to grab legendary items, including armour pieces (and make it only drop one or two damaged armour set pieces too).
The game has evolved, though the original PvP-centricism remains, many other players have expanded on that.
Of course, all of the above ain’t practical. Large clans would continue completely dominating the solo players, but in acquisition and build. It would be a complete nightmare to remove and replace all armours and weaponries. Discord and this Forum would go into complete meltdown. Modders and Moderators would go mad and start eating healthily and venturing outdoors again.
Players are never forced to use any weapon or armour, bit it legendary or stone-age. I think the harvest amounts are indeed too high, but many have forgotten that there was a ‘Forgive Us Please’ increase in harvest rates (that many have totally, expectedly exploited).
Also, whether I love it or hate it, FC must also release other games to keep in business (takes time & resources). I still curse the game house that made ‘Sword Coast Legends’ years back that went out of business. But then I likely wouldn’t have started with Conan Exiles so - meh!

Yes, but they are extremely few, which is why your overall point still stands.
My dude, where do you find that recipe on Siptah?
Is it even in the massive RNG at the end of vaults?
Siptah has eldarium. Did those get nerfed?
Yes, quite a bit
Just figured I’d answer this question: How can this game be interesting to anyone anymore?
I still do all the same things that I did before this update. Now I farm for legendaries a bit more and I pick up treasure on my usual daily grind to level up followers. I work hard to get the Purge to come, and I still really enjoy the challenge it brings and fixing up my base to handle it as best I can. When you have 15 Berserkers charging you, it can be difficult. When you go fight a Rotbranch that does 300+ damage per swing and just keeps swinging, it can be difficult. I still enjoy those moments and wish they hadn’t nerfed all the other bosses, but there are still challenges to be had.
PVP and PVE are clearly very different, but I still am having a great time playing this game. Not trying to convince anyone to think differently, just pointing out that some of the poor decisions haven’t really changed how much I enjoy the game, and that’s why I keep playing! Life is full of annoyances, but these issues feel minor to me (maybe it’s cause I’m a new dad), but if people continue to vocalize their discontent, we may see them switch back some of these changes
I really just want everyone to enjoy the game as it’s brought me so much joy and helped me through difficult times and I really believe is the best game I’ve ever played! Hopefully Funcom can turn things around for those that are totally fed up!
I’m going to once again bring up the proposal @forkyeah made regarding legendary weapon distribution and splitting weapon types between boss types. You can read it here, but sadly the thread was closed.
This is also a big issue, balancing as a whole is absolutely out of whack right now and it worries me that it hasn’t been acknowledged by funcom in any sense. Being able to get legendaries by the handful is part of a much bigger issue of the game no longer being “hard” in any sense.
And yes I know some of you don’t want hard, but the game at it’s core is not meant to be this easy. Server settings will allow you to scale everything down to faceroll levels, but at default settings it shouldn’t feel like I’m playing a basebuilder sandbox with some pitiful enemies thrown in for filler.
Distributing legendary weapons by type doesn’t improve balance a lot. Momentum and The Wyrd could be obtained from the same boss. Axe of the Lion and Battle-axe of the Berserkers could be obtained from the same boss. And so on.
If any redistribution is to be attempted, @Xevyr’s would be the most reasonable, but the fact of the matter is that nobody has presented a convincing argument for making legendaries rarer or harder to grind for.
So far, I’ve seen two arguments for it. One is “They’re called legendary, they shouldn’t be commonly available.” To which the answer is “That’s your preconception.” Asking for an item to be artificially scarce so you can show it off as a status symbol is not a way towards a well-designed game. There’s plenty of crap in the Bazaar to satisfy your vanity, leave gameplay out of it.
The other, slightly more valid argument, is that the current stats make legendaries too powerful so that other weapons aren’t (as) relevant anymore. This argument has two flaws.
One flaw is that it’s perfectly normal for whole swaths of items to become obsolete as part of the progression. Anyone who’s bummed out that craftable weapons aren’t as relevant now that the legendaries were buffed should 1) remember that this is what they were asking for when they were screaming at Funcom to make legendaries “more legendary”, and 2) ask themselves why they aren’t just as bummed out about iron weapons.
The other flaw is that you don’t solve the problem you’re worried about by making the grind for legendaries even worse. Make the grind too bad, and you’ll just make legendaries irrelevant again, because people are going to get tired of your shіt.
You people need to understand that we’re playing this game for fun. Yes, the so-called balance is a dumpster fire right now, but you won’t put it out by pіssing on our fun and making the game into a boring, frustrating slog.
It’s because they couldn’t balance their way out of a paper bag. For whatever reason, be it lack of resources, lack of time, or just plain lack of competence, they can’t settle on a coherent, well-balanced design, and go revamping things half-way and leaving them half-done until they come up with the next grand idea to revamp a completely different aspect.
And the only way you can think of making it harder is to make it rely even more on sheer, stupid luck? No skill, no challenge, not even effort, just mindless perseverance?
That’s why your proposal is bad.
Scarcity for items that are “rare” isn’t asking for anything besides the literal meaning of the word rare. Removal of legendaries entirely until some kind of better system is in place wouldn’t even be a bad idea at this point.
That’s a weird thing to say that adds absolutely nothing to the conversation.
There’s more than one way to make something “rare” in a videogame. Just RNG-gating it is a lazy way. The more you do that, the less fun your game is.
That’s why I’m against your idea. I don’t mind the game being harder. I don’t mind legendaries being harder to get. I do mind using the drop chance to control that.
It’s just. Not. Fun.
I would rather have them removed completely than contribute to the further enshіttening of this game.
