I do feel the same. As long as legendaries cannot be repaired, I’m giving them purely to my thralls. My characters will use craftables only.
Im done with this - i certainly dont need to be lectured by the forums.
Have a nice day.
is thia official? Because i have my glimmermoon from same day as update. And i still have 50% durabikity on it. About 22 hours of gameplay.
Well, still waiting to see the devs to answer a very simple question: The goal of the change is supposed to incite us to go back to the dungeons BUT why should i go into a dungeon in the first place as the legendaries are no longer worth farming?
Depends on use and modification. I use durability kits and let my thralls do 80% of the work. Someone who is none stop fighting all the time with a weapon kit would burn durability much faster then I.
You’re lucky it only took 4 days. I’ve been looking for a new Hammer of Crom for 2 weeks.
The sword of conan was buffed ?
yes, apparently so far it won’t be able to repair it anyway… I seriously hope they change their minds.
I wish I could double love this comment.
I seriously hope they don’t. They are special, go away, and should be hard to get again.
Excalibur was excalibur for a reason. There weren’t several of them nor spares.
Do you remember reading that story about King Arthur when Excalibur broke and he had to throw it away and go ask the Lady of the Lake for another Excalibur?
Yeah, me neither.
And yet, there was still only one Excalibur. There wasn’t a broken one and the new one (or even perhaps reforged one) floating around. There was still only one.
As an addendum, in some versions of the telling, the sword that was broken is unnamed and not Excalibur, with Ex being obtained after based on Merlin’s suggestion. There was still only one.
Exactly. So maybe you don’t wanna cling to your preconceptions about what legendary items should be like. As @Sera67 put it:
For the record, I’m not against legendary items being “truly legendary”, whatever that’s supposed to mean. And therein lies the rub: what does “truly legendary” mean? “Impossible to repair” does not imply “legendary”, it implies “disposable”.
Yes, the one that got broken in those versions is the Sword in the Stone, whereas Excalibur was given by the Lady of the Lake. Which just illustrates the whole confusion about what “legendary” means.
Klael’s Toilet Brush would also be legendary, but not really something you wanna play with. So let’s focus more on the gameplay and fun, and less on people’s desire to feel special because they have the One and Only Digital Copy of the Cool Kids’ Item.
It is hard to take lectures of preconceptions seriously, in a post mired with them.
In short with less prose, I disagree with your premise entirely; where you see “impossible to repair” as “disposable”, I see it as “rarity and exclusivity providing value.”
I am sorry that that desiring “rarity”, “exclusivity” and the lack of permanence requiring questing to re-obtain making the weapon special, doesn’t mean fun to you.
It does to me.
Preconceptions indeed.
Cheers.
Exactly how does being unable to repair an item make it “exclusive”? Or even “rare”?
I’ve got no problem with questing. My problem is with gambling. Or rather, a specific form of gambling: playing slot machines. Which is basically what “questing for a legendary item” boils down to in Conan Exiles.
See it’s statements like that that get my creative juices flowing and create evil ideas to spread
There can only be one.
How about legendary gear as unrepairable AND decay timer. Plus there is only one per server active. We would have to adjust the spawn rate to say…100% legendary gear to avoid mutiny of the grind but once someone gets it, it isn’t in the spawn table until it leaves the server…either due to use or due to decay (say 1 week). That makes legendary stuff more of a gift than anything else.
It worked for the Highlander. Just saying.
Now I’m not saying there should only be one, but not everyone should own dozens like spare baseball bats. Legendary being truly rare, unique hard to obtain items (rng aside) makes them special. It sucks when everyone has a Blade of the Seven Winds along with 3 spares. It loses its specialness. I like where legendary’s are going (some still slightly underpowered) that they are relics that can’t be repaired and are hard to obtain. I am the dork that ensures only one type of legendary is owned by a thrall at any given time, and if that thrall gets one, they truly earned it.
There can be only one.
Well i can state that i can still run old thralls and do all the content. Legendary weapons or not.
Repairs or not.
Chapter 2 is going to be Age of Salt.
Its a suiting name if they keep going the wrong route.
Making things worse is not really the step forward, a games intent is to be fun.
I still like Conan Exiles, even with the changes… but I do hope repairing legendaries is possible again and the permanent damage with repair kits removed.
And for the love of god Funcom… rebalance some dungeon recipes… a harder to get weapon should never be weaker than a standard feats weapon (dragon weapons, black-ice and telith’s).
