I’ll doubt that will happen. I get called that nearly daily, despite me going, “This sucks, and I can do better…” And then I actually do. Either in the form of a server setting or mod.
For example, much of the building issues would be solved by 24/7 raid times on PVP and dynamic build damage. It works. Don’t know why its not set that way. Instead of being beholden to set times, you get to choose your own time by simply logging in. That requires absolutely zero dev time. Its literally a text file edit in notepad.
Try to minimize it all you want. PvP is what we were sold.
We are HERE, however, to discuss moving forward on Official Servers. Stop derailing.
I still think there needs to be some sort of special gift for all the people losing their servers. This would go a long way toward some sense of “parity” or fair play.
PvE-C and every aspect in combat is relevant for PvE-C too, since its PvP without raiding.
I’ve had experience with PvP before but everything was a getting bombed by huge overlord clans making PvP unplaiyable for the small group I played with
But Funcom never acquiesces to the “gimme free sh*t because I’m important” crowd - so that ain’t happening - ever - in any would in the actual universe!
I gave my suggestion but that got poo-pooed from the folks that love their exclusivity of those unique DLC’s. How about a unique armor set for us that transfered from lands of the dead (get it…dead server) using AoC Necromancer armor design that gives Vitality and Survival bonuses (+2V,+3S; +6V,+8S). The perk can be called “I survived the first server trim and all I got was this t-shirt”
This. Setting the max clan level doesn’t change anything. Before the TOS, I agree: it was unplayable at times.
I tried hiding the bomb goods, but after one clan’s raid following right after another (after another…), somebody found them. Yes, my log showed 3 different clans attacking within two hours.
Ack, I’m just a solo player and haven’t ran with big clans.
I have a different answer. My answer is that it’s actually burned out PVP players who wanna change it. They are burnt out on the actual game so they come here and kibitz kibitz kibitz. There are about 3 or 4 play styles among them so they sit here in the forums and argue over fantasy changes that will never happen but that would in some fantasy would, make their playstyle “better”.
PVE players then read the exchanges and want to get in on the feature spitballing. That adds yet several more layers of difference and argumentation.
Meanwhile Funcom seems to collect all the ideas offered and do the exact opposite of whatever that is. This begins yet more rounds of people claiming they know how to “balance” the game and offering yet more fantasy solutions.
There’s like 3 to 5 people in these forums (who post messages) who both understand the direction Funcom is taking PVP & PVE and generally agree. They get called fanboys and white knights. Or are occasionally called “the mob” or “the wolf-pack” and almost all of the fantasy spitballers like to argue against them.
So that’s the general dynamic as I see it. Three general groups - two of which are quite fractured - all arguing with each other about what’s happening and how to interpret it. Good Times for sure!
The “better idea” is a nightmare of idea that no one would get done in time…
And thats Making servers check land claim spots and cyclying you thru till it finds a way to copy paste you in 100% form.
But you know… that’ll never happen or be programmed well (by anyone XD)
Reads like nightmare and sounds like one to program…specially if a player is in well used spot.
Imagine being at end of list… oof…
I would toss in other idea of, Allowing player who got forced move, a limited immunity to Seigeing for week or 2, so they got chance to rebuild an army.
Thou… anyone can counter this with spam and false reports as the norm.
I can’t say any forced move is fun…or Fair. I’ve had it happen in several MMO’s/Online Games. Never fun, never easy… specially when you got several years invested.
Funny thing is as a pvper i asked the question of turning off pvp for a week to allow proper time to build up some. Got sent to devs, and surprise radio silence. Another proof of devs not really caring about the pvp community.
I don’t think it’s proof of uncaring (regarding PVP specifically). I think it’s that it wasn’t their plan to do so - so they didn’t. Since I have been in the forums (not yet a year), the chances that FC listens to any of us about anything (including harsh bugs) and acts on it in under 60 days, is just about zero. It seems like after 60 days or more even, if whatever it was was also already in their plans then some approximation of whatever it was may come into affect. But the percentage of “ideas” that are also already in FC’s list is also so extremely low we can just about count those as zero too - besides some bug fixes maybe.
Yeah I feel kinda gulity, because I was one of the people who asked asked for an option to have official build rules on SP, because it sometimes made it annoying to test builds in SP when you didn’t know exactly where you would be allowed to build.
But I never saw anyone ask for this to be a permanent thing in SP, I suggested a toggle between official build zones and no build restrictions in SP.
One of the reason I rarely suggest stuff now, FC have a tendency to overdo it.
