Looking for something to sink my teeth into while I wait for access to Dune. Does anyone know if this offers similar open world sandbox gameplay and is there a way to identify a popular server?
Sorry, completely new here!

I gave the game a break to play some “monster hunter wilds” some time back it was fun but got repetitive after a bit “ The killing Antidote “ is another fun game if you like Resident evil like zombie shooters.
It is an open sandbox. No clue how it compares to Dune. In the gameplay videos I’ve seen Dune seems to be more shooting focused whereas CE is mainly about melee.
CE is on sale for the moment…
You can sort servers by population, at least on PC. I’d recommend searching at whatever time you normally play as population varies by time of day.
High pop server can be a double edged sword however. Especially on officials. In-game performance can be sub par with numerous people on.
I would also recommend avoiding official pvp servers unless you’re seriously hardcore about it and prepared to fight people who use less than fair tactics.
Be aware even the pve servers have some raging â– â– â– â– â– â– â– â– who will use glitches/exploits to kill your thralls and destroy your base.
All that said, it’s been an enjoyable game for quite a while.
Im trying soooooooooooooo hard right now to not say anything negative… Try it out? you might like it… its got a similar feel to how characters move, and its got gore and nudity! who doesnt love that.
Get the base game on sale. I never regret getting Conan because I got it on sale when they did the first major update. Think it was 1/3 off then.
Never buy any game the first month of release
I am basing my answer on what I do know about this game, which is a sandbox (small scale) game vs an MMO (large scale) game and how the developments seem largely different.
Dune might have a better feel (maybe even less bugs) due to the nature of the primary system that is used to manage data. When I last checked, that information was not available as it was concerning Exiles. (A wild guess tells me that was “classified” and therefore not available to the public). Just going on that alone, I’m making an assumption that management system used is far more robust than the one used for this game. This potentially means “less buggy”.
But I have no solid information to make a valid claim about it.
All I can say is: IF you are a fan of Frank Herbert and have read the books of Dune, give that consideration as to whether or not you want to give it a try.
As for me, I am a fan of Frank Herbert and have read those books and this is why I won’t be playing Dune.
