Yeah, I agree… but there should be a way to make it work. It likely has to do with the lack of a linked Funcom account like we should have had ages ago. It’s quite sad.
So I followed up with them prior to my previous update. Here’s my response their last email and their reply:

Me:
“So in short, Funcom never accounted for the possibility of refunding its own currency. I see. I have no intention of trying to pursue the route of trying to get a refund for in-game currency from Sony as that usually doesn’t work. Perhaps there’s a way to make to make good on this on Funcom’s part. I suggest making free upgrades to the dungeon set that account for missing or odd pieces. All we want are proper walls, wedges, ceilings. It should be a usable set. Not whatever this is that we were tricked into buying. Funcom owes everyone who bought this set at least something. A free upgrade would be ideal.”
Funcom:
“Thank you for your suggestion and feedback. It is a valid idea which hopefully our dedicated team can analyze.
Again, we’re sorry about the inconvenience this may have brought you and thank you for understanding.”

So, basically, I’m not gonna worry about getting a refund and hope they follow through with us in good faith. I’ve never seen a build set be this disliked and pray that they understand the problems with it. As I’ve said, this was a good idea, but execution was lackluster. Maybe they’ll provide a proper update to it free of charge. I doubt it, but maybe they’ll try to be at least a bit understanding towards the people that have supported them throughout everything, even with all the other problems that have plagued this game.
Do they have to remove those pieces? The situation is no different than briefly having someone in your clan who had a certain building set, and then they left your clan. You can’t build with that building set yourself, and if you ever remove the pieces, they’re gone.
Yeah, I understand we’re concerned about “abuse”, but let’s face it, the track record Bazaar has so far indicates that it’s much more likely that Funcom will screw customers than vice versa.
Part of the reason I’m passing on asking Sony for a refund. Knowing my luck, it’ll have some weird affect, like negative coins or I’ll get a notice that I didn’t pay for the ones I still had. It’s just easier to cut my losses, learn from my mistake of buying before waiting for a whale to preview it, and hope Funcom has the decency to make good on a free update to the set (not much hope though, I’m not foolish).
I was looking at this set the other day and even considered it, but with the lack of wedge (triangle) foundations in that style, I wouldn’t be able to make decent use of it in my builds.
As for just being a set of square foundations, I don’t really see an issue with them. While I wouldn’t turn down walls in that style, calling them utterly useless is ridiculous. I use only foundations from DLC sets I’ve purchased quite frequently. Combining them with other building styles to make unique things. I could easily use Lost Dungeon in the same way. Though I can’t due to the lack of wedges.
However… you see everything you get in the store. So not seeing a wedge did not make me go, “well maybe its not shown.” If it isn’t shown, it doesn’t exist. I definitely recommend that FC does change the UI to include a 3D view of everything they put up. In the past we used to see video introductions of DLCs, but since Bazaar rotations lack that pizzazz and flair that came with previous DLC releases, and thus their previews. Then a UI element may be in order.
You i wish the legal systems of the world started taking online transactions more seriously, otherwise things like this wouldnt be a problem for the consumer.
The UI would be greatly appreciated.
Another option, as Funcom is want to give complimentary sets to persons who make guides on Social Media, would be to give the keys or such to the targeted reviewer early, let them prepare their report on the items, and then have them release as the item hits the Bazaar.
While this one would prefer the in house approach of a more robust Bazaar UI, even using the tools current on hand (complimentary review samples for tubers), with just a bit of timing modification, options for a more comprehensive understanding of what is offered could be had.
Or, they could easily add a few lines of text, listing every item included in the bundles.
Listing the items wouldn’t have helped in this case. If I had known the walls and ceilings were foundation-sized cubes that don’t even line up correctly with ceilings and walls from other sets, I would definitely not have bought the set.
You see them listed NOW. The recent patch changed the bazaar to list the actual pieces after players complained. What was listed before were two examples of builds you could make with them and not the individual pieces. What they consisted of was not clear, and so funcom changed it.
Edit: And I just looked at the bazaar updated imagery… They have the wall and window foundation placed in such a way that it could be easily mistaken as an actual wall and not a cube. Still feels like deceptive marketing.
Buyer beware.
That’s true on this specific build set. But there sure has been a bit of confusion about other items in the bazaar also.
Or like the error when they released the Sit cross-legged and Sit kneeling emotes to everyone for free, but later put them back behind the paywall. The thralls I placed with those emotes are still using those emotes, I just can’t place new ones. And Funcom’s men in black haven’t broken into my house and demanded me to change the emote of those thralls.
I will admit, I’m honestly disappointed with this set (would it be possible to get a refund…? ).
It does have quite a lot of potential to go multiple sets, due to it’s unique textures - but the fact that it’s just a base block results in:
- only being able to build massive block “rectangles” (aka - “newbie cubes”), inflating the size of the overall build
- being unable to try & blend it more into the terrain, due to the absence of any wedge pieces
- no stairs also make it harder to fit into anything, and the Arena stairs don’t really blend too well
What I feel should need to be done to make it really worth it:
- Thin out the non-foundation pieces - i understand the concept was to have “thick walls”, but if you want to build the next “Château d’If” for your prisoners - I’d probably make the walls & ceilings only half in width or height.
- Add wedge foundations/ceilings
- Add stairs
- Add some form of “vaulted ceiling” or “rounded corners”
- (bonus, for additional flavour) add some wall variant that would have a horizontal “cut out” shelve, catacomb-style (either for body, valuables, or other times)
- (special bonus, if the graphic designer is bored - highly doubtful, but hey!): a vertical “cut out” alcove, either for a standing body in catacombs, or a torture device/chains, to mount & have a prisoner put there (could be another item in the store, akin to that Khitan thrall breaking cage)
Anyway, as it is now, I really feel regretting getting it (also - didn’t the very first price, right after server restart, went higher than the current 840 zen…? Or is it just me misremembering things…? )
Speaking of which - do we even have a track record of the purchases made in the bazaar, somewhere - or, as I was under impression until now - we’re not privy to even that…?
I’m glad you mentioned that. As far as I know, the information about the Bazaar entitlements* can be accessed through Funcom Live Services API, and I think that’s how your game client is aware of what you have. However, I haven’t seen any in-game user interface for accessing that, and I’m not sure if it contains purchase timestamps.
I’ll look into this and maybe add it to BUGLE roadmap
* I don’t mean anything negative by this. It’s a widely-used industry term meaning “stuff you’re allowed to use because you bought it”, so I hope that anyone reading didn’t get their feathers ruffled.
The “missing pieces” will likely be available with an upcoming Lost Dungeon add-on purchase.
Well this would have been my favorite set if this set had sloped walls so I could make a castle out of it
But again this is a dungeon set as I said
Indeed, when they introduced turanian, I was hoping it will be something like this. Instead it was all shiny.
