Make Silent Legion Helmet be like the sandstorm mask

I’m asking for a change in the the Silent Legion Helmet such that it acts like the sandstorm mask.

First note that I have a few armor sets with no head gear. All my followers have the mask on. They blend in together, they look the same, and they loose any fashion statement.

I want better protection with a helmet that matches the armor set that each are wearing.

Godbreaker helmet is a sandstorm mask already

Thanks for the reply, but the subject is the silent legion helmet.

But with the godbreaker helmet being a sandstorm mask there is no real point in having another heavy sandstorm mask. And in addition to that, for the GB Helmet you need 14 armor scraps while you can craft the silent legion helmet “for free”

Maybe that is true for PvE. I’m playing PvP and having to start over a bunch of times due to being wiped. Even after a year of playing I never got close to finding/making godbreaker helmet. It is just unobtainable. I still managed to get through black keep after awhile. Now, it just makes sense to fix the helmet. (Besides, it makes a fashion statement with matching gear!)

I see it as a balance issue of what is obtainable, so i’m suggesting to feature the silent legion helmet with sandstorm protection. Now we (would) have a choice on further progress rather than everybody fighting over the same gear.

More fun!

I have never touched the PvE mode either. I’m telling you this from a PvP point of view: If the silent legion helmet had gas protection, it would be way to overpowered because you could just craft an unlimited amount of gas masks with high armor value and durability without actually having to farm for it. It would finally be impossible to use poison arrows for thralls. Now you actually have to farm armor scraps for your thrall to be immune to poison

See now you might have to fight with your own toon without the OP help from followers. Heh, I like the latest patch 41 for making it feel like we are part of the fight. Whereas before you let the follower do everything. Raiding might take another hour or two (not impossible), especially for bow/enc builds. You might need to pack acid arrows, instead of poison.

I am always in a fighter build and have no real problem with killing thralls. However, there are situations where there is no other option than using arrows. And it would take ages to get rid of those helmets with acid

Okay, but I’m thinking about how HB and BI builds differently by mats. It would be stupid to get rid of HB builds because there already are BI builds. And, one or more clans are camping Frost Temple, so an HB builds lets us continue to play.

I’m comparing the helmets that way. Two different paths in endgame gear.

I am for that too.
Which I would still like when the redeemed Legion finally makes the helmet for strength or mobility.

He’s got precision as an attribute, that just doesn’t fit heavy armor.
That’s why I haven’t worn a helmet since Update 40.

There are several options for gas masks, and, judging from their properties, there seems to be a trend.

  • The standard sandstorm mask: light armor and terrible durability, craftable.
  • Yoggite mask: light armor and way better durability, craftable (and, while the recipe is an elusive one, it’s easy to craft once learned).
  • Witch doctor’s mask: light armor, more or less same durability than Yoggite, +10 survival, non-craftable.
  • Commander’s helmet: medium armor, good durability, non-craftable.
  • Godbreaker’s helmet: higher armor than other heavy headpieces, basically unlimited durability, gives a +3 to grit and is craftable but you need to farm armor scraps and spend gunpowder. The Silent/Redeemed Legion can’t compare to the Godbreaker because at some point you just swim in star metal and alchemical bases. Imagine you needed one or two hearts of the Kinscourge to craft a single piece of Legion gear. Even then, that still wouldn’t be as expensive as Godbreaker, because the latter forces you to spend part of your offensive power to craft it.

Basically, this tells us that it’s probably intended that masks affordable for mass-production are weak. If you want better masks, you either have to farm for drops in the Unnamed City or you have to be able to clear Klael’s dungeon regulary (and compete with others if your server is populated). This gives advantage to clans, but it’s only natural that coordinated groups of people reap more rewards than solo players.

That means that, with the exception of Godbreaker’s helmet, gas masks are weak by design; apparently, the immunity to poison gas need to be balanced with crappy headgear or by pouring a good amount of time and resources into each individual piece.

Anyway, if you’re concerned about durability, consider the item kit that doubles durability instead of an armor plating kit. If your thralls are geared in full heavy armor, they already are near 80% damage reduction and using light gear instead instead of heavy gear for the head isn’t going to make a difference. A Yoggite mask with this kit has 960 durability, which means your thrall would need to be inside an acid cloud for 8 minutes straight to lose the mask (and the AI, while limited, tries to make them get out of clouds whenever possible, so it would take even more time for just one thrall). At that point, it’s just easier for your attackers to spam bleed and normal arrows to kill that thrall. If you’re not there to defend your base, it doesn’t matter if your thralls are wearing fiber clothes or full godbreaker armor; they are going to die given enough time.

As per the fashion statement… well, you’re in a pvp server. Function supersedes form, sadly. I’d like to fully kit out my thralls in Legion armor, but since each piece gives a different bonus I’m stuck with a mix from several armor sets.

True. I (mass) produced the hyena-fur gear, as that is versatile until ready to upgrade.

I measured raid time by armor set. :innocent: It’s gotta be Stygian or better.

lol. That’s about when I get raided. I saved my base last time, so I have more time to upgrade my thralls now. To get to this point is the weight I’m using on a gas immune Silent Legion Helmet.

Yes fashion matters else everybody looks like they’re building (pvp) borg ships.
