Malwarebytes has quarantined Conan Exiles\Engine\Binaries\Win64\CrashReportClient.exe as Malware.Heuristic.2044.
Ive gotten a few warnings about this, but this is the first time its quarantined anything. Any input?
Wow. That’s a new one. Wish I have something useful for you but I got nothin’. Will be interesting to see if anyone else is encountering this.
This type of flag is mostly false positive. It happens when the anti-virus detects a pattern in the file that’s similar to a real virus but is not sure if it’s an actual virus. This could happen because the executable might collect crash related data from your PC without your consent.
You shouldn’t worry too much, Funcom is a trusted company
Ok I appreciate your fast response, I will white list it then.
I use Malwarebytes too…Never did that for me lol…It does however block connecting to website stuff during conan…I turn off Malwarebytes now while gaming lol
Indeed. Think about what the executable does: it collects data from your device, and sends it across the internet. That looks very much like spyware behavior. So it’s no wonder that an antivirus software gets a bit anxious.
I’ve had to whitelist several Steam game folders in the past due to similar issues. And I’ve had to ask for a refund for some games because I haven’t trusted them enough to let them phone home.
Put it on the bug report forum, that way we may get a response. Meanwhile, just greenlist the executable.
O_o
Never said I do.
lol, ok well ill just leave it quarantined after reading all your conflicting opinions lol
