Since triangular pieces lose TOO MUCH stability compared to the square ones (the loss is the same, but you need more of them to cover) … building a map room INSIDE a circular building is next to impossible.
ALSO, it is WAY TOO BIG.
Even if there wasn’t this stability problem (AND THERE IS A PROBLEM) this thing would still be too big for bases that are not just a big box without any sense of design.
Bases must be cool, but a room 7 foundations wide and 4 foundations tall with only 1 thing inside … it’s not cool. It’s ugly. It’s DISGUSTING.
Many people build their map rooms outside, cause it’s impossible to build them inside and still have a base that you can look at without have to vomit.
I made a MIRACLE to build a circular room 6 foundations wide and still that f**ker doesn’t fit. It’s frustrating, really.
Since you’re making a building revamp, I suggest you add this to the things to do. I know you can’t resize an existing structure, but you can create a new one (maybe even more expensive) that miniaturizes the huge map room.
A building 4 foundations wide is more than enough and it’s tasteful size. We don’t need huge structures, we are not the giants of the Unnamed City. We are HUMANS and need Human-size stuff.
I know the original design was from the Unnamed City people, but Humans do have BRAINS as well: if we can build that thing, we can build a reduced size variant of that as well.
Please, I know I’m complaining and you don’t care about people’s complain, but do think about it: there is absolutely no reason to not do this, if you care about aesthetic of buildings (and I know you do, or you wouldn’t have planned a Building Revamp).
It is extremely difficult to close a map room on a polygon construction but not impossible. The map room after it is placed accepts some pillars though it but in specific points. It is very easy however to close it in a square construction. Play a bit in admin mode and you will will see that impossible is nothing .
Wow. Time for ancient architecture skills. Here is the inspiration but you can do variations therein. The key to circular rooms is to pillar one of the outside wedges of the 3rd circle. If you are wanting to place it on top, remember that the map room can be climbed out off but not in so an elevator, ladder, or stairs can be used to get up to the maproom from the floor below. Also if you use treehouse foundations, you can get a maproom in a tree with that one foundation but it would have to remain open.
