I’ve been playing Conan Exiles since 2019 and I’m tired of going around all points in the lands of exiles every time I create a new character for the sake of learning statically located knowledge, which happens quite often (Reasons for creating a new character - Server Wipe, which usually happens every six months. I found a new server. My character got deleted after a long absence). I’m tired, boss.
I’d like to be able to explore all of this once. Exploring it all was really fun, it was an interesting adventure…the first 5 times.
I’m only referring to the emotions and food/alcohol recipes that are explored in the static points of the exile lands.
PS. Perhaps this feature should be accomplished via an Achievement.
Huh? You’re complaining about characters getting deleted and server wipes? Are you playing on private servers? This isn’t an issue with official servers, so it seems your problem is with admins on private servers. This doesn’t seem very relevant. It’s not Funcom’s fault that you keep getting your character deleted or keep starting over.
No they are complaining that learning all the recipes scattered around the map takes too long and vets should get an easy button to just get them all in their knowledge bank because they found them once already
I know what they’re complaining about. However, they’re complaining that they KEEP doing it due to character loss. That’s hardly the fault of the developer.
Why, for the input of this mechanic, should Funcom’s be at fault?
And what does this have to do with the official servers? You wrote as if private servers are something bad and unworthy. Also on the official servers my character is similarly deleted when I’m away for a long time.
I actually like this idea in it’s spirit but the execution as I see it is where problems keep popping up.
For instance, what recipes get the short cut and what don’t. I assume things like the dragonbone recipes, silent legion, warmaker etc aren’t expected to have this so where is the line drawn between recipes? Food, drink, and emotes only? does that include pet emotes as well?
Should it be as simple as a server setting that you click so that the server remembers the recipes learned by the player (and can categorize them so you get more individualized-food, drink, dungeon, emote, etc)?
All in all, it’s a worthy topic to discuss but probably won’t go anywhere.
More: I didn’t mean for it to sound that way…or maybe I did because I had a headache and low level of patience when I wrote that but it definitely wasn’t with malice towards you. Speaking as one that has restarted the game multiple times because…well just because I like reliving the advancements and trying different things, I can say I also hate going though the motions to collect all of those recipes…I know I only have one character that has them all right now because it was my starting toon and had plenty of time to go off and fine scripts of digital paper during the COVID time. Now?
Why does the developer have to be at fault for introducing some mechanics?
I’m not asking to solve the problem of servers for pirated copies of the game (I don’t know if such a thing exists). Private servers are a legitimate element of the game, in this thread I’m only asking for a little comfort for those who for their own reasons don’t play on the official servers. Why shouldn’t Funcom’s pay attention to comfort outside of the official servers?
I’ve been on multiple official servers and returned to said official servers multiple times. I’ve never experienced this—yes, even after a couple years. Either you forgot your server or some obscure issue occurred. Funcom doesn’t delete characters. During transfers this happened on occasion, but never without transfers that I’m aware of.
Funcom can add an option on private servers, sure. However, their priority is not to private servers for certain settings simply because they don’t admin private servers. Many of the settings are done by private server admins and owners. If it’s your own server, then sure, having a check box in the admin panel for emotes would be good. There’s already one available to learn all recipes. However the recipe one is not exclusive to food recipes.
My point isn’t to be a jerk about all of this, but merely to point out that something about your request doesn’t add up. The need for relearning emotes and recipes only is necessary when you’re server hopping frequently, or you intentionally (or via a rare bug) have deleted and recreated your character. This type of request is very niche and, as @erjoh mentioned, unlikely to gain much steam. There ‘s not a huge demand for such a feature.
Weapon and armor recipes are still too significant a part of gameplay. And to learn such recipes requires a minimum of a challenge (For example, “silent legion” - overcoming the complexity of the biome and passing the dungeon, at least in the style of jogging).
Emotion has almost no effect on gameplay. Only a few emotions (~10% of the total) are affected by the Challenge.
Food is a bit more complicated.
Do you even use these? I only use chili desert style of all the recipes, and now in AoW Chapter 2 food is literally everywhere, you don’t need to cook anymore.
It’s possible. I’m not gonna say. My experience of official servers ended in 2019-2020. Various pvp servers were always overrun by one or more clans and newbies were wiped out in the first few hours, and on pve servers some clans built buildings the size of several squares (my computer was hurting because of it).
It’s funny. At that time on the forum I asked for mechanics for limiting the size of the base and limiting the population of minions, because it overloads the computer and the server. All the commenters wrote that I should create a server and introduce this rule and independently monitor the size and population or look for a server with similar restrictions on the part of the administrator. On the advice of commenters I found such a server and now they write me the opposite.
Yeah, that’s intentionally deleting your character. Whether you recreate it or remove the bracelet via the chaosmouth quest line, it’s still intentionally deleting your character. You can’t possibly expect to have recipes and emotes carry over when you’ve quite literally cut ties to the server entirely. It tells you on that warning that you’ll lose access to everything by removing your character from the server. This isn’t Funcom “accidentally” deleting your character because you’ve been absent for a long time. You did it yourself.
That’s the point of my thread, to allow minor recipes to be memorized per account, not per character. Just for times like this when a player loses their character.
