The big purge is nice, but it takes a long time to fill the purge meter and during the gap between 2 purges, the npc camps act totally passive even the player have base built right next to them.
What I’m thinking is, add mini purge logic for NPC camps if a player base was nearby. That, if a NPC camp, having player base built nearby, and the said NPC camp was fully populated, then spawn a mini purge party to attack that nearby player’s base.
The strengh of mini purge can be related to the strength of the NPC camp, so if I built near a southern riverside exile camp, then spawn a mini purge party there, of 1 or 2 low tier exiles, to raid me, and if I inhabited near the Relic Hunter city, then they should spawn a big “army” of relic hunters to get ride of my base.
You know this isn’t a half bad idea. And I actually wouldn’t tie it to the purge system. The idea of roaming bands of raiders comes to mind. Not all groups of nasties will want or be capable of damaging structures.
But it makes since to occasionally have to fend of a small group 4-6 of bandits, pirates, outlaws, and such.
I know if they didn’t do any appreciable building damage, the RP servers would be more inclined to run these.
I used to play a lot Kenshi, the roaming groups of bandits or creatures works great there. Here in Conan Exiles, the hostile NPCs and creatures are more like WOW’s, with a higher default respawn rate, that are mostly static spawned and location fixed. It’s somehow ok with NPC enemies since they all have a camp to stay cozy but when it goes to the creatures, like panther and tiger, they populates in a great density which is wierd, and for like elephants, which should be more grouped, yet scattered here and there.
Maybe it was to save server’s capacity, but is still none the less a dull feature.
Though I do wonder about a combination of Dark Soul multiplayer solution and Kenshi roaming party generation. That basicly every player having a rather singleplayer gameplay while a matching mechanic allowing other online player along with its base to appear in your game as a kind of mirage or echo, then you two can trade or fight with each other. Also, provide a mechanic to call for aid from third player or players to help you defend or invade the host player world.
Well, I wouldn’t expect that from a game that was already out of its mockup phrase. Just thinking maybe one day I could have the budget to make one like that
As a single player, I barely get halfway through the camp before everyone starts magically reappearing again, sometimes invisible. If I’m lucky I see their floating swords coming towards me.
I appreciate its annoying for the next guy/ gal / group who comes just after me, but still…
As for mini-purges. Hrm Honestly as a bit of a lone wolf I tend to avoid having a purge as long as I can, so having more kinda makes my brain ache.
That being said I know there are many who would love this idea, and if it was implemented well, I would not have any serious objections. Having little wandering war bands would certainly make life interesting. I’d be up for a challenge.
EDIT: Ooo I have cake next to my name. That must mean I’m tasty.
