Just with that small number I found at least two mods that I attempted to load that were not compatible with each other.
It is only through lots of tests and blind luck that I managed to figure out the problems.
Is there any good source of information as to which mods will work together and which ones won’t. Also it would be good to have some idea of what order to load them is best.
You can find this information sometimes on the workshop-page of the mod itself. Modders are made aware of incompatibilities by the community and then include that information on their mod’s page.
Sometimes you’ll also find recommended load orders there.
Tipp: The very popular mods have their own discords. There is also a special discord for modders. But this is mostly for the communication between the modders or/and the Devs of the game.
Ask the modcreator or his supporters via steam or discord. The dedicated ones will answer you.
I found the modders discord, someone there pointed me to one of the modder’s discords.
I’m now down to one issue that I’ve had no luck tracking down the cause to. I had thought it might be an issue with a mod, but now I’m not sure.
I rent a G-portal server, I set all the mods and settings through there. The StaminaCostMultiplier is being set to 0.15. I’ve confirmed this is set in the serversettings.ini (by looking at the file through the G-portal web site that lets you also edit the files directly).
After a mod update or I think a server reboot, this setting is getting set back to the default of 1.0. I can tell this by logging in and seeing the affect of sprinting, but also if you press Esc, Settings, Server Settings, Survival tab, you also see it saying it is 1.0. I can use my admin ability to change this to 0.15, but it won’t stay through a reboot.
This is what is in my modlist.txt on the server:
*Pippi.pak
*KerozardsParagonLeveling.pak
*Less_Building_Placement_Restrictions_No_NPC_Camps.pak
*Pickup+.pak
*BetterThralls.pak
*StacksWeightandDurability.pak
*clear_weather_no_rain.pak
*NiflheimrMiniMap.pak
G-portal is saying that they have contacted funcom about the problem with StaminaCostMultiplier. Funcom is saying that they have changed this to a hidden variable, and will fix this in the next patch.
So I is looking like I found a bug, one I haven’t see posted anywhere
Regularly all settings you change in the ini should be fixed and loaded in with Serverstarts. Even Mods can’t change this. Only as an admin you are able to change this afterwards in the game settings menu.
There are only two possibilities:
The Serverprovider changed the possibilities to edit the Serversettings.ini
Funcom deactivated or changed the settings
To reduce the value of the staminacostultiplier (vanilla is 1.000000) makes the game really a lot more easier. With 0.150000 you can climb endlessly, you can run away every danger, you can cross nearly the whole map without pausing to run, you can fight without taking care your condition. The game won’t give you no real challenge anymore so I wouldn’t recommend these settings.
You can try to change the
NPCHealthMultiplier (HP of NPCs,Monsters,Thralls and Pets)
NPCDamageMultiplier (Damage given by NPCs, Monsters,Thralls and Pets)
NPCDamageTakenMultiplier (Damage taken by NPCs, Monsters, Thralls and Pets)
Mods, which are changing the stacksize and other properties like weight, needed to be well maintained. They have to be updated with every new built of the Devkit. You have to be sure the Modder is still active and will give support the foreseeing future you want to play the game.
You didn’t tell me anything here that I didn’t already know, except that I didn’t know a mod could not change this setting. I find that surprising, mods change a lot of other settings.
Why I and some other server operators would set the staminacostmultiplier to 0.15 or even 0.1 is up to us. We know why and what we are doing. No need to discuss that. Some of us aren’t really looking for a super hard challenge (which is what the defaults give you), we actually find the game more fun when it is easier. Maybe some like to build, maybe some like to explore without the danger, certainly there are lots of reasons people might prefer this setting changed.
According to G-portal, it is #2, (Funcom deactivated or change the settings).
I’ve also changed those other settings you mentioned.
I’ve yet to see a mod that changes this one particular setting, so really, about the only possibility is that funcom messed it up.
