I was thinking about it. Why not expand the map downwards. Like a big underground cavern system. That could be a new biome.
This is a good idea that has already been partially implemented in the North.
Of course it would be a great idea in the desert area, because in deserts it would be possible, because there are quicksand.
Survive.Build.Dominate
Several game engines have a limit like this. (not just 400x400k thing) It varies to each engine.
Just amount of data in that area + all assets. I’ve made mods on few of older TES games, You build past certain point, you encounter issues.
Some of them not really obvoius at 1st ether.
Northwest is several of games dungeons out there, Dregs is in Southwest in a spot we can’t go on surface.
Expanding map another way is Load Screens. (On consoles its already takes a few mins)
I wouldnt mind a new map, and having do load screen back and forth. Some people might…
Then again… that much work, gimmie CE II. XD
Anyways, I linked it before. Unreal engine has its own wiki, which goes abit in-depth on map limits. As does Creation Engine and other that allow players to use them. Almost all games have some form of limits, its not just hardware they run on, but tech doing inner working.
And sometimes… Quality of Life. Cause 2min to load game up is better then 10mins for ultra mega map. XD
I would also suggest that you go to a very large obelisk and come from there on a new map.
As it is with ARK, that would be a possibility.
We can only hope that Funcom eventually comes to this idea to expand Hyperborea and let us explore even more.
I would love some more open world content. I am happy with what we have though in terms of dungeons. I havent really tried some of the new stuff. I seem to just hang out in my base these days.
Just because you don’t enjoy the dungeons doesn’t mean that nobody else does. I happen to love warmakers. Godbreaker armor can’t be beat for equipping your thralls with, and some of the best weapons come from there now. I really think they did a great job with this one after a couple of misses with previous dungeons.
I do love unnamed city as well though, don’t get me wrong. But what I feel you’re really stating with this argument is that you want to be able to pop in, get the best loot, and pop out without any real risk involved.
It seems to me that they’ve done an excellent job going back through and revamping the open world PoI’s so far, anyway. There’s quite a few spots throughout the map that are worth visiting now, not just Unnamed city, for amazing healing items, legendary tools, some awesome new weapons etc.
One of the biggest problems that I see, though, is that people get bored at level 60. At some point there’s no reason to keep farming the same items over and over. I’d love to see some sort of alternate advancement system added for when you hit level 60 that allowed you to keep gaining experience and improving your character. Even if it only unlocked very minor improvements, for example, a skill with 3 tiers that unlocked a 1/3/5% overall armor pen to everything you wield. Wishful thinking, I’m sure, as that would be a pretty big undertaking. Though I’m certain they could release it as a paid DLC.
Why should you pay for something you can already have with the potions and fish?
Your idea of the additional opportunities is really great, but Funcom will not implement that.
Although I play on the PS4, but Funcom has the game since 2017 on Steam and Funcom should therefore so thought, the card still something to expand as ARK does.
The players who play longer, eventually get bored. You know all corners and find out very quickly even with the new stuff.
What’s so annoying is that many things are nerf after a short time, good players invest a lot of time and then get a slap from Funcom because other players who are not so good cry, because they have no chance against the good players.
Survive.Build.Dominate
Well he clearly stated that it was his thoughts
Unfortunately they will add another cosmetic DLC rather than expand the world, rework the UI, fix the AI and combat. BUT HEY ! That’s making money because the game’s main feature is i guess is RP.
I have nothing against RP.
Nice that you tell something that we already know.
Here is only discussed what would be ideal as next steps.
And for the next time keep your pessimism, there are players hoping for improvement.
If you have been as long as i have, you would know what i am talking about. I sound pessimistic because the devs haven’t done much to improve the combat and AI. Since official release the progress has be minuscule.
Just because someone is not logged into the forum since 2017 does not mean that he / she does not play long.
Conan has been available in Early Access on Steam since 2017.
I prefer the console only as a PC because I do not want to spend a lot of money on a gaming PC.
I could complain about too many things that I did not do because I am still hopeful as other enthusiastic exiles.
Good for you ! Being optimistic is all fine and good, i can’t say the same because all the feedback regarding AI and combat that has been given from me and other people here on the forums, during the years has been ignored.
Instead of improving these core features the devs decide to pump out more cosmetic DLCs. And i get that these cosmetics are made by a different team, but it says alot when FC pumps out cosmetics instead of putting more resources in those teams that are coding, optimizing and fixing. It gives a really bad impression, which makes me and other people wonder if it’s just one guy or a handful that are trying to fix this mess.
Then you probably never see the streams the FC does, because in two of them, FC has already said that they want to put more resources into the community team.
They want to increase their team, that’s why some players are also optimistic and do not think so negative.
In addition, a medal always has two sides, a game improves only when the money technical resources are available for it.
These come only through new players who buy Cosmetic DLCs.
Many have been waiting for Conan to get it until it was free.
A free sale makes no profit to get new capacity for extensions and improvements.
People complained about the game being free when Exiles was added to PS+. Well, people still need to pay for PS+, like any subscription. Maybe FC could take note of that venue for themselves. Consider one “free” DLC if you get the subscription. I’m not a salesman, so I’ll stop there for the thought. If the new zone was restricted to subs…
I don’t see how putting more resources in the community team will fix the game they should put more in the technical not the community. And as for the cosmetics making additional money will also won’t cut it if more people leave. It will just be a handful of folks who RP and buy these cosmetics. Just look another of their game that has a similar policy, AoC.
The Community Team is the team that takes care of everything in Conan, lvl design, dungeons etc.
Stop complaining if you have no idea.
Look at the streams and then come back to the discussion!
This is my last answer for now!
Well if the Community team takes care of everything then i guess there are only 2 people working on everything.
funcom already stated that its Impossible to make a larger world becouse the engine. The only way would be creating another realm so u can choose in the menu
I mean, they could just expand beneath the map. I’d love to have to fight underground monsters or cavern dwellers.
Though of course, different maps that you could teleport to is another idea.
